"Now! Baby! Use Sowing Hope! Child of Starlight, Domain Battlefield, Barrenstone Demon Flower!"
The timing wasn’t perfect, but in terms of sequence there was no problem. As green motes of light rose from Round Grass, sank into Prayer Soil, and turned the land fertile, a terrifying aura suddenly erupted from Round Grass.
Feng Yuan had already guessed what the opponent wanted to do, he just didn’t know if she’d considered the possibility of being interrupted during the Prayer Soil stage. But thinking about it carefully, if Prayer Soil gets interrupted it seems to trigger another state anyway, so it doesn’t make a huge difference.
Shen Zhongqian’s chain was simple and its effect was brutal. The Wasteland Domain might not provide Wood Attribute bonuses, but the Crystal Domain isn’t just some basic attribute buff.
The desolate earth hadn’t undergone Domain Awakening to become a physical domain, yet under environment judgment, it had already been classified as a desert environment, and that alone triggered Sowing Hope’s extra effect.
As a Wood Attribute planting Ultimate Move, if Sowing Hope is cast in desert or other dead-end environments and successfully forces plants to grow, it returns a large amount of temporary Power of Nature. Using this, the Spirit Beast casting the move can, under certain conditions, exert strength far beyond its current Order.
If Sowing Hope is blocked, it also triggers another effect: the revenge of the Power of Nature. This doesn’t boost the Spirit Beast that cast the move, but directly inflicts massive nature damage on the Spirit Beast that interrupted Sowing Hope.
In other words, no matter what you do, the opponent still counts as having succeeded. As for how to crack it? Unless you’re prepared in advance or just happen to have a way to resist nature damage, you can only take it head-on.
Round Grass might look like it doesn’t have much offensive power, but the Power of Nature itself is a completely unreasonable thing. Sowing Hope has an absurd number of restrictions, which is exactly why its effect is so delightful.
First of all, as a special natural power, it doesn’t count as any Attribute. Which means even if you use a powerful barrier targeting Wood Attribute Ultimate Moves, it’s useless against the Power of Nature.
At the same time, because this power comes from nature, Ultimate Moves infused with special Power of Nature are ranked in priority only below the Divine Beast’s Power, causing a lot of methods to simply fail when facing this kind of power.
Of course, that doesn’t mean this power is invincible. There are methods specifically targeting the Power of Nature. Feng Yuan even knew of a special Ultimate Move within the Death Series: Forbidden Zone of Living Beings.
This Ultimate Move doesn’t have any big fancy effect; it just marks out a region, and all Life within that region takes continuous damage. The effect doesn’t distinguish between friend and foe.
In ordinary situations, this Ultimate Move is basically useless. Unless your entire team consists of Death Series and Ghost Series non-living Spirit Beast, even those two Series’ Spirit Beast will still take continuous damage inside the Forbidden Zone of Living Beings.
That said, the continuous damage itself isn’t very strong. You could say that even if you stand inside the Forbidden Zone of Living Beings, you won’t see your HP dropping rapidly, unless your HP is already low.
But Forbidden Zone of Living Beings has many special extra effects, one of which is that any natural power entering the Forbidden Zone of Living Beings is directly extinguished.
After all, the Forbidden Zone of Living Beings is a taboo land for the Living Beings, whereas the Power of Nature is one form of the Living Beings’ power. So no matter how dominant the Power of Nature’s usual manifestation is, it can’t break through the restrictions of the Forbidden Zone of Living Beings.
This has nothing to do with the strength of the power, it’s purely the limitation of the world’s rules.
Because this Ultimate Move’s scope of application is extremely narrow, very few Spirit Beasts bother learning it. Besides Forbidden Zone of Living Beings, there are other Ultimate Moves that can also achieve the effect of resisting natural power, but without exception their scope is narrow, and hardly any Spirit Beasts will invest in learning and mastering them.
Of course, if you overuse this sort of method, your enemies will definitely start targeting it. However, with the Child of Starlight, Feng Yuan could think of many similar methods. Different methods will not necessarily unleash the same type of special power.
"If it’s only like this, then even with the Child of Starlight you’re still nowhere near bringing out its full strength."
Touching his chin, Feng Yuan looked at Shen Zhongqian and muttered under his breath. This chain was pretty decent, but she’d almost not used the Child of Starlight at all along the way.
Sure, the Wasteland Domain had been opened by the Child of Starlight, but that’s something the Mud Snail could’ve done as well. Within this chain, there was no necessity for the Child of Starlight’s presence.
If Shen Zhongqian’s capability only went this far, Feng Yuan doubted whether she could truly make good use of the Child of Starlight.
"Flying Flower Swift!"
Before Feng Yuan could figure out Shen Zhongqian’s goal, the next command came. Round Grass drew on the Power of Nature and activated the Flying Flower - Swift Ultimate Move. Flying Flower - Swift, already super fast to cast, turned into an almost instant barrage of flower rain under the Power of Nature’s blessing, crashing down toward Black Sun.
The counterattack was inevitably triggered. Even though Xiao Ji, in Black Sun state, didn’t have an Ultimate Move that specifically resisted the Power of Nature, in Black Sun state she had plenty of methods to boost damage reduction.
The wide-coverage Flying Flower - Swift didn’t just slam into the Black Sun body in the sky, it also enveloped the Fluffy Fire Wolfhound and Feng Yuan in its attack. As massive damage was transmitted to Black Sun, Feng Yuan started doubting whether Xiao Ji’s Black Sun state was about to be broken.
With one clear cry after another, Black Sun showed no major fluctuations. Even without Feng Yuan’s command, Xiao Ji quickly cast Ultimate Moves on her own to further reinforce Black Sun’s effect.
Even with the Power of Nature’s blessing, facing a Black Sun reinforced by Xiao Ji, the attack still couldn’t cause much impact. After all, the Divine Beast’s Power is a tier above the Power of Nature.
Not to mention there was already a significant gap in overall strength between the two sides. Even a mighty Power of Nature can’t completely ignore that.
Black Sun wasn’t broken. As expected, as the attack continued, the counterattack was about to be unleashed. Yet facing the incoming counter, Shen Zhongqian instead looked excited, even a little nervous.
She’d tried several times before, so she was very clear how hard it was to hit Xiao Ji’s Black Sun state. It was precisely because of those attempts that she noticed a possible way to exploit it. At the very least, she could use the Black Sun state to achieve something.
The plants forced out by Sowing Hope were all Ordinary plants. In contrast, the Barrenstone Demon Flower that the Child of Starlight had put down as a Domain Battlefield was swaying in the wind.
The huge, earth-yellow petals were endlessly inhaling and exhaling the Desert’s Power. Barrenstone Demon Flower is also a method that uses special power to attack the enemy. While Desert’s Power is a tier lower than the Power of Nature, that doesn’t mean Barrenstone Demon Flower is weak.
Its massive petals lay flat over the ground, and its whole pistil formed a huge circular hollow. Once an enemy steps onto the petals, they’re swept up and delivered into the hollow in the pistil.
Inside the hollow is packed with Desert’s Power. That Desert’s Power can put any Life that intrudes into a kind of petrification state, while also locking down most Energy flow.
If they can’t escape in time, the Desert’s Power will keep corroding the Life within until death. Of course, getting all the way to that point isn’t easy. At least with the Child of Starlight’s current power, it can’t maintain it that long.
The counterattack’s power swept across the battlefield like a storm of blades, instantly annihilating all the spawned creations in the area. Whether it was the Ordinary plants grown by Sowing Hope or the Barrenstone Demon Flower of the Domain Battlefield, everything was completely destroyed.
"So that’s it."
Watching the Desert’s Power rapidly spill out and the shaking energy space, Feng Yuan muttered thoughtfully. He already knew what the opponent wanted to do—or more precisely, this was a move that he’d previously overlooked.
A huge yellow-brown lizard phantom gathered Desert’s Power and gradually solidified, the Power of Nature coiling around it and adding specks of emerald-green markings to its Scale Armor.
The mixture of two kinds of special power made the yellow-brown lizard’s body grow larger and larger. Feeling that constantly rising aura, Feng Yuan touched his chin, hesitated, but in the end still didn’t give Xiao Ji any orders.
This thing probably had the strength of a Legendary Level strike—but only just that. After all, even when such methods are played to the extreme by Ordinary Spirit Beast, being able to leap to this Order is already the limit. Wanting to go further is practically impossible.
Just as Feng Yuan expected, after the giant yellow-brown lizard had absorbed all the Desert’s Power, it didn’t wait any longer and charged straight at Black Sun. The next instant a blinding yellow flash swept out, and an Energy explosion erupted right in front of the Black Sun that Xiao Ji had become, surging straight into Black Sun.
