Because Veronia is a Divine Beast, the staff, even though they realized Veronia was forcing Carlott to assist, did not intervene. After all, this is an internal matter among Spirit Beasts where humans should not interfere. Also, they hoped Carlott might suffer a bit to avoid causing trouble for them.
Even though Carlott is a wild Spirit Beast, residing in the reserve, the staff naturally have a duty and responsibility to guide and protect the wild Spirit Beasts. If something happens with the reserve’s wild Spirit Beasts, they inevitably have to bear some responsibility.
Not to mention Carlott often bites customers’ Spirit Beasts in the Hellfire Mine, so regardless of the situation, compensation and apologies fall on the Hellfire Mine staff.
So now seeing Veronia force Carlott to help with the experiment, the staff were just watching the show.
Of course, this is also because Veronia wasn’t going overboard; otherwise, they wouldn’t just stand by and watch.
Feng Yuan didn’t expect there to be a specially constructed training arena in the Hellfire Mine. It’s a private battle ground for employees, distinct from conventional battle arenas, located on the ground and surrounded by residential and office buildings. This arena can withstand Legendary Level Spirit Beast battles without being damaged.
To be honest, even in Maomu City, there aren’t many battle arenas of such high specification. The construction cost for a venue capable of enduring such powerful attacks is undoubtedly high.
"Fortunately, there are still Fire Attribute Domain Crystals, otherwise there would be no way to attempt this time."
Holding the Blazing Earth Realm Crystal, Feng Yuan said, although the Blazing Earth Realm is useless for the Fluffy Fire Wolfhound and Xiao Ji, it’s quite suitable for testing.
The effect of the Blazing Earth Realm is single and only applies to Fire Attribute finishing moves, allowing some unclear interferences to be ruled out in verification.
Carlott stood by Xiao Ji, hanging his head with a dissatisfied expression, while Veronia casually summoned several crystal statues to stand on the battle ground. These specially condensed crystals can resist a certain intensity of finishing move attacks, enough for testing purposes.
Both Feng Yuan and Veronia are clear about the power of Xiao Ji and the Fluffy Fire Wolfhound’s finishing moves, so they were not surprised when the crystal statues almost remained unharmed.
"Next is the Magical Flames."
Looking at Carlott, Feng Yuan had a serious expression. He didn’t know if the Magical Flames would differ from simply converting attribute finishing moves.
After glancing at Feng Yuan, Carlott disdainfully stepped forward, waved a little paw, and two bright yellow flames floated out and landed on the foreheads of Xiao Ji and the Fluffy Fire Wolfhound.
The external manifestation of the Magical Flames is an extra tuft of bright yellow flame on the forehead, so no one was surprised. The Fluffy Fire Wolfhound howled and charged forward, unleashing the Blazing Earth Realm Crystal Domain, instantly igniting the arena with flames.
Xiao Ji soared into the sky, launching the Netherworld Wind, this Wind Attribute regular finishing move turned into Flame Storm under the effect of Magical Flames. However, unlike the converted attribute Flame Storm, this flame storm still contained a strong Death Series aura, only mixed with a large amount of golden flames in the black wind.
The attack of the Netherworld Wind landed on the crystal statue, and the damage was evidently much higher than before, as everyone could see that this attack caused quite a few fragments to drop from the crystal statue.
"It really can be enhanced by the Crystal Domain."
Veronia said unsurprised, as this had been anticipated, and now it was just confirming the guess.
However, there was one aspect they couldn’t test, which is the Domain Awakening. After all, the Divine Beast could not ignore the rules to awaken the domain of Crystal Stones with a non-self attribute.
This meant Feng Yuan and his group had no Spirit Beasts capable of Domain Awakening. Neither Feng Yuan nor Qi Chen needed a Fire Attribute Domain Awakening.
"It’s a pity we can’t test the boosting effect of Domain Awakening."
Sighing, Feng Yuan didn’t care much, as he was letting Xiao Ji unfold the Underworld Domain and again use the Netherworld Wind.
This time, the flames still mingled with the Netherworld Wind, yet the power of the Netherworld Wind remained stronger than at first, proving the Magical Flames indeed added additional attributes to the finishing moves rather than directly changing attributes.
Of course, with the boost from the Underworld Domain, Feng Yuan also figured out the flaw of the Magical Flames. Instead of calling it a flaw, it was an unavoidable issue due to the nature of its effect.
As for the Netherworld Wind finishing move, under the Underworld Domain’s effect, its power doubles, a typical boost from conventional Crystal Domains. Yet, under the influence of Magical Flames, the Netherworld Wind with added Fire Attribute only received half the boost in the Fiery Flame Land Domain.
Meaning Magical Flames provide less enhancement in Crystal Domains compared to converted attribute finishing moves; converted attribute finishing moves do not cause a finishing move to receive only half the crystal domain enhancement.
Conversely, it isn’t completely without benefits. Since the finishing move’s attribute is additionally added, if the target doesn’t have immunity or high resistance to the original attribute, some Spirit Beasts’ innate boosts could become effective, offsetting part of the flaws.
"Hmm, the effect of the Magical Flames compared to converted attributes is about seventy percent. If there is a boost from innate attributes, the gap might further decrease. Unknown if those domains with altered forms from the Domain Awakening would have any change."
Feng Yuan said, rubbing his chin. Though the test wasn’t rigorous due to insufficient data, it was adequate for estimation.
At least within the regular range, the estimated data was accurate.
"If so, these little guys might face some danger~"
Veronia glanced at Carlott with a peculiar smile, shrugging, while Feng Yuan helplessly said,
"Probably not, it’s just simply adding another finishing move attribute, very effective for Beastmaster competitions but still weak in real combat."
Compared to the unrestricted real combat, the rule-bound Beastmaster competitions are where Carlott’s special Spirit Beast abilities can be showcased. As for real combat...
Feng Yuan felt it wasn’t as useful as attribute conversion. Attribute conversion is far more flexible than fixed attribute additions.
However, neither of these matters much to Feng Yuan and his team, as they neither possess converted attribute nor Spirit Beasts like Carlott.
Without them, naturally, it doesn’t matter how significant their impact might be.
"I didn’t realize Carlott had this ability."
Feng Yuan might not care, but the staff did. In his view, Carlott’s special finishing move is crucial, though it’s useless for him as his Beastmastery focuses primarily on Fire Attribute, Carlott’s attribute additions do nothing for him.
But this doesn’t mean all Beastmasters in Baiman City use Fire Attribute beasts. In reality, the mainstream attributes of Beastmasters in Baiman City are primarily Fire, Earth, and Metal, as these Spirit Beasts are common around Baiman City’s vicinity.
Carlott’s ability could be a good addition for the official Beastmasters in Baiman City, finding converted attribute Spirit Beasts is indeed challenging.
Carlott could make Beastmasters’ attack attributes more flexible, even pairing different attribute Domain Crystals for combat and Beastmaster competitions.
In essence, Carlott holds more significance for Baiman City in Beastmaster competitions.
Feng Yuan didn’t concern himself with these matters, after the test, he stuffed some sweets to Carlott and prepared to leave, heading to procure ingredients. As for Carlott?
Feng Yuan had no intention of taking it back, he was not joking; this little creature would only add to his troubles if taken back, he didn’t want to find Carlott every day.
Even without testing, Feng Yuan could predict once Carlott was taken, it would frequently disappear.
As for Carlott’s ability to add Fire Attribute to Xiao Ji’s finishing moves?
Feng Yuan saw it as insignificant, considering Xiao Ji’s Divine Beast Technique already pulls damage boosts to the max, having this attribute doesn’t make much difference.
Unbeknownst to Feng Yuan, Liao Yu would specifically call him because of Carlott.
