As Feng Yuan hesitated, Qi Chen and his companions also followed Meng Binglan to the stele. This stele was brought by the Divine Beasts. Although it was difficult to move, with the concerted effort of these creatures, they managed to transport it.
They had no choice, leaving it in its original location made the Divine Beasts uneasy and it was inconvenient for research.
Even though they dreaded its side effects, they understood that many naturally occurring things eventually end up being used. All they needed to do was ensure safety by checking it thoroughly and once confirmed controllable, allow its use within limits.
Humans, of course, had no objections to this, as they understood that too many chaotic elements could massively impact human society. Unless they went insane, they wouldn’t allow such chaotic things to infiltrate human society.
Originally, Meng Binglan was not qualified to study this artifact, but due to Feng Yuan, the Divine Beasts specially permitted her to research the Qi Realm Stele, especially since Feng Yuan was here and he knew a thing or two about the Qi Realm.
Even though Meng Binglan might not be professional enough, having someone capable of handling trouble made it fine for her to conduct the research.
"This is the Qi Realm Stele, I’m sure you should have seen it before. According to my experience, the stele brings one into a state of extreme sorrow, and the Qi Realm Stance is a full-on attack type. Actually... there’s something I didn’t get to try."
While Meng Binglan was introducing, she hesitated for a second and said,
"During the trial, I felt that I could manipulate my Beast Tamer’s Qi Realm Stance. But at the time, due to the strong emotional impact, I didn’t get to try. If you have the opportunity, you might as well give it a shot, but ensure it’s under the condition where your personal safety is guaranteed."
She then began to emphasize certain precautions. Unlike the simple trial via contact followed by blind attempts, Meng Binglan, together with a psychologist expert dispatched to assist, discussed based on her experiences and came up with several crossing techniques. Although they couldn’t completely ignore the psychological impacts of the trial, they could reduce its pressure.
This is also why Feng Yuan agreed to their attempt here. Compared to being accompanied by him alone, they could enjoy better protection in Meng Binglan’s lab since when it comes to psychological issues, Feng Yuan didn’t have much of a solution.
"Sorrow? Yet another attack stance? Did everyone who tested get an attack stance?"
Dou Yanlan was taken aback, thought of something, and tentatively asked. She wasn’t sure if this question was confidential, but Meng Binglan guessed what she was asking, and smiled freely, saying,
"You’re right. Regardless of whether it’s sorrow, anger, fear, hate, or other emotions, the end result is always an attack. We believe this isn’t a coincidence; perhaps the first Qi Realm Stance must be an attack stance. However... we have yet to find an effective way to obtain a different type."
Just like Veronia, after the trial, they couldn’t undergo the same Qi Realm Stance trial again. They tried supplementing with the Spirit Beast Contract for a second trial, but the results weren’t promising.
Continuously facing such extreme emotions significantly impacts people, and in terms of effects, it’s still the attack stance with no change.
Everyone knows there must be other stances, but for now, no one can produce them, although Meng Binglan wished to try, considering various factors, she decided to only study the side effects.
Regarding the discovery, she felt it merely slightly influenced attribute distribution and couldn’t change the type of stance. At least, that’s how it felt to her.
Qi Chen and Dou Yanlan were not careless, they privately decided to try it later, as a sheer attack stance was not very meaningful to them.
Dou Yanlan might manage, but Qi Chen was not lacking in offensive capabilities, moreover, the now unique Ah Mu excelled in both offense and defense. Turning completely to an attack stance might not necessarily be better than the present form.
After emphasizing her reminders, Meng Binglan did not let them touch the stele immediately but confirmed they had understood everything they needed to know.
They couldn’t help it; the side effects of the Qi Realm Stele were evident, and even with Feng Yuan present, they insisted on caution, as avoiding incidents was preferable.
"Have they started yet?"
Holding a report, Feng Yuan walked over and casually handed it back to Meng Binglan while looking at Qi Chen and Dou Yanlan standing before the Qi Realm Stele and asked. Meng Binglan glanced at Feng Yuan and replied,
"Otherwise? You came specifically, are you planning to..."
"Hmm, it doesn’t matter to me, but it seems eager for the Qi Realm Stance, so I’m here to give it a try."
Shrugging, Feng Yuan said indifferently. The Qi Realm Stance trial was no big deal to him, but for Xiao Ji, it might not be the same. Meng Binglan stared at Feng Yuan for a while before saying,
"You’re confident, but you still need to pay attention to the precautions."
Continuing, Meng Binglan repeated the previous advice given to Qi Chen and the others. After listening, Feng Yuan stroked his chin and looked at Xiao Ji, saying,
"Did you hear? Currently, there’s only an attack stance; you don’t need it. Are you sure you want to try?"
"By the way, can we exclude a specific Beast Tamer?"
Before waiting for Xiao Ji to answer, Feng Yuan asked Meng Binglan. The Fluffy Fire Wolfhound shook its ears and placed a paw on Feng Yuan’s foot, growling softly. Veronia helped translate,
"The little dog says it also wants to try."
"Fluffy Fire Wolfhound wants to join too? Are you sure?"
Turning to grasp the Fluffy Fire Wolfhound’s front paws, Feng Yuan looked suspiciously at the beast, and it wagged its tail and barked, clearly intent on mastering the Qi Realm Stance.
"Well... alright then."
Feng Yuan hesitated for a moment before agreeing. Unlike Xiao Ji, the Fluffy Fire Wolfhound had its own will and a decent amount of experience, enabling it to make its own decisions.
As for Xiao Ji, Feng Yuan only worried it might choose poorly without understanding the consequences.
"Though there’s no evidence, nor should there be, I think it’s better you wait to try after their trial."
While storing the report, Meng Binglan spoke to Feng Yuan. Theoretically, the Qi Realm Stele could open multiple trials simultaneously, but no one had tried, nor was it known if adverse effects would arise.
Since the object inherently had side effects, they were currently only attempting on a small scale, and no one dared risk such a possibility with high incident rates.
"Then I’ll wait a bit."
Grabbing a chair randomly to sit, Feng Yuan said unconcernedly. Even if Meng Binglan hadn’t mentioned it, he wouldn’t attempt the trial now.
After a while, Qi Chen and the others awoke to find their released Beast Tamer Ah Mu transformed, and Feng Yuan rubbed his chin, saying,
"Ah Mu has turned to an attack stance? That’s not very meaningful."
At that moment, Ah Mu’s tree crown changed color from green to golden, with even shimmering Diamond Fruits hanging on it. The trunk bore distinct patterns, and despite its not-so-strong capability, a sharp aura was emitted from Ah Mu.
The Hao Chun Bird transformed less dramatically, only the color altered to lake-blue dotted with white, along with a notable increase in size.
Nevertheless, both Ah Mu and the Hao Chun Bird’s change to attack stances seemed insignificant in Feng Yuan’s view.
"Can’t be helped, no idea why, but everyone’s stance is an attack; other stances are simply unobtainable."
Without even glancing at Feng Yuan, Meng Binglan spoke. This was documented in the report, which she was certain he must have read.
"It’s probably not related to the stele type, it can’t be that advancement starts from the attack stance, right?"
Imagining a possibility, Feng Yuan said with a peculiar expression. Regular use of Qi Realm Stances isn’t feasible for just anyone, hence wanting other stances might be quite bothersome.
"Perhaps, but altering stances does have an impact; for them at least, every change induces intense emotional fluctuations."
Meng Binglan gazed at Qi Chen and the others with a pale expression and said. This aspect was unnoticed by Veronia, perhaps due to its strength being evident so slight influences were hard to detect.
Nonetheless, this was crucial for Meng Binglan’s attention. The influence during the acquisition process and potential hazards during post-use were her prime concerns.
"That’s quite troublesome indeed. Alright, I’ll go give it a try then; they’ll be in your care."
Standing up, Feng Yuan patted the excited Xiao Ji’s head before walking toward the Qi Realm Stele.
