Feng Yuan and his group rested for a night in Qi Realm Dou Yanlan, and early the next morning, they set off towards the Qi Realm. Although the Qi Realm itself is a dangerous area, it’s not a place the average person can easily approach. Qi Realm Dou Yanlan and their camp here also serve to prevent anyone from accidentally or intentionally entering the Qi Realm and causing trouble or disputes.
Because of this, Qi Realm Dou Yanlan could easily help Feng Yuan and his group with their access permissions. After all, Feng Yuan and his companions had nothing to do with Tianhua, so what if Qi Chen and his group look similar?
Not to mention, as long as there are no border disputes, nobody would bother checking for violations regarding entry permissions into the Qi Realm.
Qi Realm Dou Yanlan had a feeling that Feng Yuan and his group were unlikely to pass through the Qi Realm to enter the neighboring country. Instead, they might directly delve into the heart of the Qi Realm, even though Shiyin felt this was somewhat risky. Qi Realm Dou Yanlan still used their authority to process Feng Yuan’s entry documents.
"If we find anything, we might tell you when we return. However, I’m not sure if we’ll come back this way."
Before departing, Feng Yuan expressed his thanks to Qi Realm Dou Yanlan and explained that he could vaguely sense that Dou Yanlan probably wanted his help in investigating the Qi Realm, though what exactly was to be investigated was unclear to him.
If it was along their path, he didn’t mind exchanging information. After all, without Dou Yanlan’s help, they wouldn’t have been able to enter the Qi Realm so quickly.
Although forcing their way through wasn’t impossible, not even Qi Realm Dou Yanlan and their people could stop Feng Yuan’s group unprepared, especially with two Divine Beasts present that most people couldn’t hold back.
Nonetheless, Dou Yanlan’s goodwill led Feng Yuan to choose to abide by their rules. As for whether they would become friends or foes in the future, Feng Yuan was uncertain. Neither he nor Qi Realm Dou Yanlan could decide the policies from above. The alliance between East Continent Great Xia and Great Xia was not much related to Feng Yuan.
Even though it was propelled by Feng Yuan, the driving force was War Qi Chen, and no one else opposed it. Feng Yuan was unclear about Tianhua’s situation, as the changes in this world were quite drastic compared to theirs.
As soon as they crossed the boundary of the Qi Realm, Feng Yuan noticed a distinct difference in the environment. Within the Qi Realm, a unique force was attempting to evoke the hidden negative emotions within him, but to Feng Yuan, this force had no real effect.
"It seems we’ve come to the right place. This familiar force is likely related to those beings. Tamur, if you please."
Feng Yuan said happily, turning to check on Qi Chen and the others. The usual protective measures might not work against this force, and seeing the expressions on Qi Chen and their faces, Feng Yuan could guess they weren’t faring well.
A projection from the Mythical Era descended, temporarily isolating Qi Chen and his group from this world on a world level. Tamur looked at Feng Yuan and said
"I can’t intervene while maintaining this state."
"It’s alright, we still have Veronia, don’t we?"
Waving his hand dismissively, Feng Yuan didn’t mind. After all, his greatest trump card was himself, though he was too lazy to mention it.
Inside the Qi Realm was an expansive forest. According to the information from Dou Yanlan, the shallow layer of the Qi Realm was almost identical to the real world, with no other dangers besides some mental influences.
As for entering the deep layer, although Dou Yanlan provided equipment to Feng Yuan, he didn’t intend to use it as these protective devices hadn’t been satisfactory.
If the protective devices could completely shield against mental influence, Feng Yuan wouldn’t have Tamur intervene. It was this insufficiency that made Feng Yuan suspect that the equipment for entering the deep layer wasn’t as effective as advertised.
"Ahem, I could manage, but the spatial integrity here is quite bizarre. If I act, it might cause the fragile spatial layer to shatter, dropping us straight into the deep layer."
Though not a Space Divine Beast, being the master of the World of Mirrors, Veronia had some sensitivity to these special spaces, which is why it detected the issue.
The barrier strength of the shallow layer is very low. Not just Veronia, even War Qi Chen could break through the spatial layer and fall into a deeper layer, and according to Feng Yuan’s observations, the spatial layer here is peculiar, not merely a simple planar multi-layer structure, but a complex three-dimensional structure.
The so-called shallow space is actually made up of multiple shallow spaces. These shallow spaces have varied internal environments, yet share similar danger levels. This is also why people on the Qi Realm Timeline haven’t noticed the anomaly in space structure.
"We probably don’t need to delve into the very shallow layer. How about entering the deep layer from here?"
After walking for a while, Veronia turned and said to Feng Yuan. After some contemplation, Feng Yuan replied
"Alright, be ready, Veronia, are you able to slowly cut into the deeper layer without using those devices?"
"It’s not a big issue. Those devices achieve a slow descent into the deep layer by vibrating the spatial layer, but..."
Veronia spoke with a peculiar smile, and Feng Yuan remained silent. Qi Chen and the others were stunned, and in that moment, they exchanged surprised glances.
"Those devices to enter the deep layer vibrate the spatial layer?!"
Seeing Qi Chen hesitating, Dou Yanlan bluntly asked, to which Veronia chuckled lightly and said
"That’s right, though vibrating the space barrier to slowly pass through it is quite common, in this Qi Realm, it’s somewhat special."
"Could it be..."
Understanding something, Dou Yanlan listened as Feng Yuan sighed and said
"You’re right, these devices aren’t a big issue in our world as the spatial vibration doesn’t propagate far. However, here, the spatial barriers are too weak and will transmit the vibrations over long distances."
"Whether they’re aware of it or not, this approach will allow those creatures to sense the presence of people."
Honestly, Feng Yuan didn’t think they were unaware of the issue. After all, the spatial vibrations are quite observable. If the spatial barrier’s strength were normal, the vibrations wouldn’t travel far, but here...
Feng Yuan could only say the space structure here is too unusual, amplifying this effect.
"It’s hard to descend quietly, but we could leave them a target."
Veronia laughed softly and waved her hand, transforming into the Crystal Queen. She pushed her hands forward, and streams of crystals emerged behind her, rushing in all directions. After a while, with a cracking sound, the sky suddenly darkened, and Feng Yuan watched speechlessly as Veronia said
"You almost collapsed the entire shallow layer."
"Hmm, these spaces eventually repair themselves anyway."
Unconcerned with Feng Yuan’s words, Veronia intended it so. The mass descent into the deep layer meant that even if those unknown creatures sensed the vibrations, they couldn’t accurately pinpoint their location right away. After all, Veronia’s move had broken down most of the shallow areas in the Qi Realm.
Back at the camp, witnessing the sudden darkening of the sky within the Qi Realm, Dou Yanlan’s expression changed, but when no other changes occurred afterwards, she seemed to understand something.
"Why make such a big commotion? Are those things something you can’t handle?"
Muttering softly, Dou Yanlan felt puzzled. In her understanding, entering the deep layer of the Qi Realm means continuously encountering special creatures. These creatures appear endlessly, starting from the moment one actively enters the deep layer, continuing until they leave the Qi Realm, similar to triggering a spawn mechanism in a game.
Therefore, she forgot to remind Feng Yuan and his group about this matter, as it seemed like common knowledge to her, requiring no additional explanation.
"Darkening skies, with seemingly no special changes, the intensity of that unique mental influence remains unchanged. There’s no rush to enter the deep layer yet, let’s observe for now."
Sensing quietly for a moment, Feng Yuan remarked as he looked at Qi Chen and the others. With Tamur’s protection, they weren’t affected, but consequently, they couldn’t accurately observe their surroundings.
Since sensation requires protective isolation by Tamur, the mental influences here are peculiar enough that even vision might become a conduit.
"It seems it’s not just the darkened skies. Don’t you feel a bit cold?"
Veronia commented while surveying the area. The scenery hadn’t changed much, but as the sky darkened, the forest began to take on a sinister air.
Yet the spiritual power released didn’t detect any supernatural presence. Even if one were frightened, it would likely be due to their own imagination.
"It seems, it’s a bit like that—wait, what’s that over there?"
Feng Yuan said, noticing a peculiar broken stele, and walked over in curiosity.
