The unique traces belonging to the Main World made everyone hesitate, even Feng Yuan couldn’t determine if those guys were deeply involved with the Main Timeline. In this situation, they simply couldn’t strike them down mercilessly.
Agunas and the others were aware of this situation, naturally they wouldn’t reject Feng Yuan’s proposal. Or rather, the best approach at present is indeed to trap them, as for what to do later, that would have to be figured out slowly.
"If... destruction then rebuilding, would it be possible?"
Thinking of something, Veronia looked at Feng Yuan and asked, with a helpless smile, Feng Yuan glanced at Zhanzheng Qichen and the others and said
"No, not only would this severely wound the entire world, but don’t think doing it would come without a cost, at least a period of weakness is unavoidable, not to mention..."
Shaking his head slightly, Feng Yuan disagreed with Veronia’s idea. If he disagreed, Veronia and the others wouldn’t be able to carry it out even if they had the thought because allowing the Yin World to conduct a complete restoration of the Yang World isn’t something they can meddle with.
As for destroying the Main World to the extent that this would be necessary? They’re not crazy. As the Divine Beasts guarding the world, how could they possibly do such a thing?
Feng Yuan disagreed with this matter not because of those side effects. In his view, the weakness period is not a major issue, because given his presence here, no matter how intense the battles within Chaos are, they hardly affect here. It’s just that he doesn’t wish for everything once familiar to vanish.
Even if it is a complete recovery from the Yin World, in his heart, it would no longer be the same person. If it weren’t absolutely necessary, he doesn’t wish to proceed in such a way, even if doing so might eliminate the existence of time branches.
Indeed, the reconstitution of the Main World by the Yin World is not fixed and unadjustable, as long as time is pushed forward, reconstructed before they clear the Parallel World, changing the approach, such as finding a way to maintain the Parallel World, then the emergence of time branches becomes impossible.
Because the root cause of the emergence of time branches is due to the return of the world essence occupied by the Parallel World created by Mythological Remnants. Although this is part of the world’s own plan, without sufficient world essence, time branches cannot appear.
Only, not to mention that, in Feng Yuan’s view, Qi Chen and the others are no longer those people he once knew. What does this period of experiences count as?
Veronia didn’t understand Feng Yuan’s thoughts. After Feng Yuan refused, it began considering what other ways to deal with these guys.
Leaving them unchecked is certainly not an option. They don’t have enough energy to engage in mind games with those guys. Although their strength isn’t that strong, in the end, they are human. No matter how meticulous their restrictions, it’s hard to ensure there are no loopholes. Once those loopholes are found, it’s a trouble.
Currently, the method adopted after contacting the United Army is unified detention, allowing multiple Divine Beasts to jointly oversee and rotate for rest. However, this approach clearly cannot be sustained indefinitely. Not to mention anything else, these guys are constantly searching for loopholes, and being detained like this, those Divine Beasts are essentially being held here.
Not to mention their intention to participate in frontline battles. Even without that, Divine Beasts have their own duties and cannot stay at this place indefinitely.
As for replacing with humans to assist in watching over?
It’s not that they distrust humans, but rather distrust probabilities. Even the tiniest possibility, once existing, throughout the entire timeline would turn into a certainty. Can’t wait until they naturally die, right?
If the opposition was entirely human, it would be easier to say. But they know very well one thing, which is that the lifespan of such special existences is hard to calculate, especially if there are Longevity Species or nearly immortal existences like Divine Beasts amongst them, making it even harder to judge.
Because these special existences belong to a shared life state, as long as there is Life Force, the possibility of dying of old age doesn’t exist.
"This matter seems peculiar. Although I don’t know how many differences there are between you and us, I believe one thing—since it’s an arrangement within the world, there’s no reason for multiple major events to happen simultaneously."
Just as everyone fell into silence, Zhanzheng Qichen suddenly spoke, and everyone looked towards him. Feng Yuan thought for a moment and said
"Theoretically, this statement is correct. Events that affect the world often involve the world itself undergoing changes. When multiple events progress simultaneously, the consequence is an entirely out-of-control process, typically this doesn’t happen."
This is quite normal. World events, unless involving situations outside the world, generally occur under the world’s own control. Under such circumstances, multiple world events appearing would bring many chaotic variables, leading the process towards unknown directions.
"We can’t ignore reality in discussing this matter. What we’re facing now is multiple major events happening."
Dou Yanlan spoke slowly. She sensed that Zhanzheng Qichen seemed to imply something, but she couldn’t understand.
"Are you implying that all of this is related to the matter of the time branches?"
Glancing at Qi Chen and the others, Feng Yuan realized they hadn’t grasped Zhanzheng Qichen’s meaning, and he nodded, saying
"I think those people you’re encountering are likely from our time branches, but as for what exactly happened, I don’t know."
"Hmm, the time branches meddling with our history? The possibility isn’t nonexistent, but there’s a significant problem."
Feng Yuan felt that this possibility wasn’t high. Apart from anything else, the Lorraine Tower almost runs through the entire history following the Mythical Era. Usually, it doesn’t intervene, simply because the impact on the Time River isn’t substantial, but the time branches causing a ruckus is different.
Directly triggering disturbances within the Time River or even causing its collapse wouldn’t be impossible, and it couldn’t stand idly by in such instances; even the historical Lorraine Tower would be the same, perhaps even summoning the modern Lorraine Tower to suppress them.
The reason it hasn’t been discovered is either due to the opponents’ superior means that allow them to avoid the scrutiny of Lorraine Tower and other Divine Beasts, or because these guys have a close connection with the Main World, it’s only under such circumstances that they wouldn’t act.
The tolerance levels of Lorraine Tower and others differ entirely between their own people and outsiders.
"Historical Divine Beasts? I’m not very clear about the situation in the Main World. If you say the possibility isn’t high, then... I can’t think of any other possibilities unless one of you wants to commit to this, even expecting to gain benefits."
Zhanzheng Qichen thought for a moment and said, feeling helpless. They were unable to confirm other things, but they had thoroughly investigated the Maomu fair event, finding no such occurrence within the War Timeline, meaning the opposition must be associated with the Main World, yet the nature of this association remains a mystery to all.
"Internal conflict? This possibility is very low. In such a scenario, no Divine Beast could tolerate it."
Rubbing his chin, Feng Yuan felt this matter couldn’t possibly be the doing of someone from the Main World, joking aside, not providing assistance is one thing, but pulling strings at such a time? No Divine Beast could endure that.
Losing the approval of the Divine Beasts would plunge any force into grave trouble, let alone instigating troublemakers who are bound to attract the purging by the Divine Beasts, what fool would play that hand?
"Though it’s said so, humans are indeed a race filled with adventurous spirit."
Veronia did not entirely dismiss this possibility primarily because the current investigation had hit a dead end, there were plenty of clues, but none were useful, they lacked the key to linking them together.
That is, what exactly is the purpose of doing so? Whether it’s attacking Qi Chen and the others or creating these undead-like existences, there must be a purpose driving such actions, unless they’re insane.
However, no matter how hard they think, they can’t figure out any benefits. To the War and The Imperial Timeline, this matter might stall the Main World’s momentum, but... the effect is limited, as these entities can’t cause significant harm to the United Army.
Furthermore, even if it stops the United Army, so what? If the mastermind acts recklessly, the Divine Beasts might not be unable to unite and take significant action, which would truly solicit trouble, while although the Divine Beasts have shown restraint so far, should they unleash the might that accompanied world-invasion wars, the Imperial Timeline might soon be conquered by the United Army.
People from within the Main World causing trouble? What’s the purpose? Involving so many from the Main World, whatever plan there might be, it cannot bypass the Divine Beasts, otherwise, it’d be comedic to be purged as evil.
"This... really can’t be argued."
Regarding Veronia’s view, Feng Yuan couldn’t say much. Whether there are people from the Main World courting disaster, he truly couldn’t be certain.
