Curiously looking at Veronia, Feng Yuan wanted to know how Agunas planned to handle this. Would they make it public? Weren’t they concerned about possible unrest caused by this?
"I have no idea what Little Crocodile is up to. It just told me to be ready to act at any time during this period. Heh, well, forget it. It’s rare for me to be kind-hearted and not mind its way of speaking."
With a light hum, Veronia spoke. Indeed, it didn’t know what Agunas aimed to do; Agunas simply asked it to be ready to act. As for why action was needed, Agunas didn’t say.
"Hmm, does it need you to act? Didn’t it say to involve Tamur too?"
Scratching his head, Feng Yuan looked at Veronia with some confusion, to which Veronia rolled her eyes and said irritably.
"Isn’t Little Crocodile aware that Tamur and I have been together recently?"
"It is indeed strange, never mind. Since they have an idea, let’s not bother about it. It didn’t say for me to prepare, did it?"
"Nope."
While saying this, Veronia also felt perplexed. It’s understandable if they didn’t know Feng Yuan’s strength, but Agunas clearly was aware of Feng Yuan’s strength and couldn’t have overlooked Feng Yuan’s involvement. Yet, it didn’t mention Feng Yuan.
Could it be expecting Feng Yuan to be available when needed, just like with Tamur? If it were a usual time, that would be fine, but now amid a chaotic battle between two timelines... No, it should be a chaotic battle between three timelines; how could it be certain Feng Yuan would be reachable when necessary?
With his inclination towards the Main World and Great Xia, Feng Yuan might be off doing something at any moment—even Feng Yuan himself couldn’t guarantee where he’d be doing what tomorrow.
This means Agunas hadn’t considered Feng Yuan’s combat power, so what does Agunas intend to do?
After pondering for a while, Veronia gave up guessing. Regardless of any unexpected events, it wouldn’t be feeling uncomfortable; Agunas could deal with it however it wanted.
Knowing Agunas and the others had made a decision regarding the Temple matter, Qi Chen and the others no longer tangled with the matter of omens. There’s nothing to do now; they only know about the omen, but as for what might actually happen, nobody understands, let alone prepares for it.
Qi Chen and the others knew their abilities. Truly, if some terrifying event were to occur, whether they were prepared wouldn’t fundamentally affect the big picture.
As the war timeline engages, the three-way battle thoroughly mixes up the situation. The United Army is compelled to temporarily retract their front lines, slowly advancing within the Eastern Alliance Empire’s territory.
Even though those opportunistic forces have lost their fighting strength due to the Imperial People’s raids, the war timeline’s backstab still prevents them from focusing entirely on dealing with the United Army.
Compared to the opportunistic forces, the war timeline’s nations are evidently harder to deal with; they are not only stronger than those opportunistic forces, they have rich war experience, and like the opportunistic forces, these nations go straight for the Anti-Divine Beast Runes, showing no attachment to the Imperial Timeline’s land.
This attitude forces the Imperial Timeline to focus more resources on the war timeline because those folks aren’t just ordinarily stubborn. While any single force isn’t as strong as any empire in the Imperial Timeline, even the declining Mordan Empire pales in comparison.
But this doesn’t mean their strength is weak; the Imperial Timeline remains relatively peaceful, lacking the experience and vigor compared to the war-marked war timeline.
The emperors resurrected from the City of Death are now watching the chaos rather than disturbing the Eastern Alliance Empire. This situation is indeed rare.
In their era, warfare wasn’t unheard of, but never had they witnessed such chaotic battles; after all, internal wars within the Imperial Timeline were mostly during regime transitions, differing greatly from external wars.
Narrowing down defensive lines and slowing offensives give Agunas and the others more energy to handle the Temple matter. Even though they’ve liaised with some Divine Beasts in the Main World, Agunas and the others still find it uneasy.
Therefore, after deliberations, they decide to leave a sufficient number of Divine Beasts at the frontline to prevent ambushes, while other Divine Beasts return to the Main World to handle the Temple matters.
Yes, after careful consideration, they ultimately decide to activate the Temple. However, to avoid causing widespread unrest in the Main World, they need to coordinate with most Divine Beasts, including those hidden ones.
Their inherent bias is unavoidable. What they can do is reduce disparities between different countries; however, the gap persists.
Agunas and the others decide that the Divine Beasts of the United Army will protect only participating countries, whereas hidden Divine Beasts will care for the non-participating ones—they likely won’t mind these petty matters.
Having reviewed related information since learning of this, Agunas knows the so-called blessing quota is merely a simple restriction.
Otherwise, given the strength of these top-level Divine Beasts like Agunas and the others, they could easily bless an entire nation’s temple with just one Divine Beast. The act of blessing bears no toll on them.
However, with limited blessing opportunities, Agunas and the others can only strive to balance the disparities between the United Army and other countries. Of course, if those folks become dissatisfied, Agunas and the others wouldn’t mind sparking an internal conflict.
Because at times like this, those unclear-headed folks only bring future troubles, especially since it’s already preliminary to leaving behind the Imperial Timeline if there’s no unforeseen event.
Then, they’ll face incessant revenge from the Imperial People. Adding some more people doesn’t make much difference.
Yet, if possible, Agunas still hopes no tactless individuals step forward.
This notification to Veronia stems from worrying about such situations. Unlike other Divine Beasts, Veronia is one that Agunas believes could definitely go hard, moreover due to experiences from the Mythical Era, Veronia holds certain advantages against those jumpers, since in the Mythical Era, inter-nation wars were quite frequent.
If the other party were willing, Agunas truly wished to rope Veronia into participating in United Army operations. Her experience in this regard far exceeds Agunas and the others’, enhancing the United Army’s advantage significantly.
But now is not the time to consider this. Before seamlessly resolving the Temple matters, they can’t deploy much of their force toward the United Army, which is why the United Army shifted to a defensive stance while slowly securing the surrounding areas.
Agunas and the others didn’t specify what they planned to do, merely stating it was something extremely important, potentially causing massive turmoil in the real world.
Even if Agunas and the others said nothing, the United Army still conjectured something. They couldn’t guess regarding the Temple matters, yet suspected it had something to do with various countries, though nobody knew precisely what it was.
Given the grave significance of the Temple matters, none of the Divine Beasts dared with leaking it, lest those folks jump out and cause issues before the groundwork is properly laid, making things rather bothersome.
The United Army suddenly moving defensively naturally drew attention from various nations. Internally, the United Army understood it was the wish of the Divine Beasts but had no intention of spreading the news. To them, scaring those folks a little wasn’t a big deal.
Within the Alliance, the change gave rise to head-scratching and even panic, as Agunas and the others returned, directly involving the Divine Beasts backing the Alliance in the preparations.
Given the close relationships they have with humans, this action couldn’t exclude them, yet knowing how significant this affair is, once joining the operation, those Divine Beasts ceased attending to the Alliance, leaving them bewildered.
Although confident that they wouldn’t get angry due to the war, the various countries still felt uncomfortable, especially when those Divine Beasts were mingling with the United Army’s Divine Beasts without much interaction, bringing a sense of abandonment.
While the Alliance contemplated remedial measures, Agunas and the others managed to contact the hidden Divine Beasts. Although they didn’t wish to meddle, Agunas and the others had valid points—ignoring the issue would undoubtedly incite chaos in the Main World; involvement from nearly all Divine Beasts ensures only a few daring to step forward.
No matter the kind of Divine Beast, as long as it’s not an Anti-Divine Beast, it would instinctively maintain order in the Main World; therefore, these hidden Divine Beasts couldn’t refuse Agunas’ proposal to bestow blessings.
Before that, they repeatedly clarified, emphasizing it was merely blessing to maintain stability and that they wouldn’t oversee the blessed places’ circumstances.
