To Qi Chen’s surprise, when he called, Feng Yuan was actually on his way to the Maomu City Special Duty Team; since Feng Yuan knew that place best, when it came time to discuss things, he instinctively chose to go there.
Knowing what Qi Chen wanted to ask, Feng Yuan didn’t hide anything and simply explained the situation once; when he learned that the other side had already gotten hold of the Dominator of All’s leaked power, Qi Chen was deeply shocked. Although he had no idea how terrifying an existence the Dominator of All truly was, he had heard Feng Yuan talk about that horrific blizzard which had changed the balance of power in the Snowfield.
The power that had once merely leaked out could form such a terrifying blizzard—now that these people had obtained that power, what kind of horrifying things were they going to use it for?!
Unfortunately, when it came to this matter, Qi Chen knew very well there was nothing they could do. The only thing they could do was probably just pray the other side wouldn’t use that thing on Maomu City.
As for what Feng Yuan said about contacting the authorities to coordinate some big move, Qi Chen didn’t pay much attention. With Feng Yuan’s personal ability, he probably couldn’t pull off any "big move" anyway, not to mention that he still had to coordinate with Maomu City.
"It really is a big deal."
After hearing Qi Chen’s account, Dou Yanlan rubbed her chin, looked at Qi Chen, and said,
"We still have to give your Parallel World self a heads-up about this and see what he thinks. Even though we can’t do anything on the front line, that doesn’t mean we’re completely helpless here."
Dou Yanlan believed that in a Beastmaster war, before the front line completely collapsed, even those whose strength wasn’t that great could still make their own contributions on other fronts—let alone the fact that they weren’t necessarily going to lose on the front line.
Not to mention anywhere else, just in Maomu City, with Feng Yuan there alone, they already had Veronia and Tamur; as for Agunas, whose whereabouts had been uncertain for a while now, it instead didn’t count for the moment.
Aside from that, there was also Drudgeon in Cha Mu Town; that one might very well make a move.
Just on the surface, the Divine Beasts here were already no weaker than Shenhua or Shangjing. The reason those guys’ recent attacks had thrown everyone into panic was purely because their actions till now could only be considered small-time harassment.
Tamur and Veronia were merely moving around with Feng Yuan; for things of this scale, they didn’t necessarily fully intervene, so the fact that those guys hadn’t been punished by the Divine Beasts was understandable.
But if it was the front line, Dou Yanlan believed Veronia and the others wouldn’t be hovering outside the battlefield the way they were now.
After receiving Qi Chen’s call, Zhanzheng Qichen couldn’t help feeling a bit emotional. Although the him of this world wasn’t that strong, that didn’t matter. At the very least, with Feng Yuan as a friend, in terms of knowledge and experience, he wasn’t much worse off.
The difference in strength was largely because of age. Even though the time tributaries and the main timeline ran in parallel, they weren’t identical in detail; as a result, the history they experienced came quite a bit earlier compared to the main timeline.
This meant that Zhanzheng Qichen was actually several years older than Qi Chen. Their age gap would naturally create a gap between their strengths—unless Zhanzheng Qichen’s potential was extremely weak, which was obviously impossible.
"A power that can trigger a terrifying natural disaster? I’m afraid it’s more than just that."
After hearing the news, Zhanzheng Qichen wasn’t as optimistic as Qi Chen. "Dominator of All"—that name did not sound casually chosen. For something to bear that name, even its leaked power would hardly have only the single function of creating natural disasters.
He didn’t share these guesses with Qi Chen. If things were really as he suspected, there was no way Feng Yuan didn’t know. Since the other side hadn’t mentioned it, he wouldn’t say more either; knowing these things wouldn’t do them any good.
Even knowing the reason behind the Divine Beasts’ actions, Zhanzheng Qichen still didn’t know what they could do. He understood very clearly that even he couldn’t interfere in battles of that level.
Let alone when the other side’s true objective was still a mystery; it was instead Feng Yuan’s actions that had caught his attention a bit.
That guy taking the initiative to act, he was afraid that...
"Hey, what exactly are you planning to do?"
Assigned to serve as liaison, Liao Yu asked the stern-faced Feng Yuan in puzzlement. After he had talked in the conference room with the bigshots for a while, Captain Yan had told them to get ready to mobilize the city’s forces. Although the deployments looked a bit strange, Liao Yu guessed they probably had something to do with Feng Yuan.
He had no idea what Feng Yuan was trying to do, to the point of even mobilizing the City Defence Army. You had to know the Time Storm issue still hadn’t been resolved.
Gazing at the sky, Feng Yuan said calmly,
"Give those guys a warning. If they keep provoking me, I don’t mind throwing this whole war completely off balance."
Looking at Feng Yuan in total confusion, Liao Yu didn’t understand what he meant. This guy Feng Yuan was way too confident. In Liao Yu’s eyes, even a top-tier Divine Beast like Lorraine Tower probably wouldn’t dare to say such a thing.
"I get the feeling you’re about to pull something outrageous."
Veronia couldn’t help reminding Feng Yuan not to go overboard. After all, he was the one making the move here; even if they wanted to help cover it up, they wouldn’t be able to.
"Nothing that outrageous. The City of Time, huh... heh. A ’city’ isn’t limited to just the City of Time."
Looking up at the sky, Feng Yuan closed his eyes and quietly waited for the agreed time to arrive. When the preset alarm rang, he took out his phone, turned it off, and then said to Liao Yu,
"Any issues with the others?"
"No contact. They should have reached their assigned positions as planned. What exactly are you going to do?"
Looking at Feng Yuan, Liao Yu had also become serious at this point. The way Feng Yuan was acting now, he really seemed about to pull off something big.
"Just a little token of appreciation in return."
Head tilted back, eyes on the sky, Feng Yuan spoke calmly. The wind gradually picked up. The City Defense Army and the Special Duty Team members all had no idea why their superiors had suddenly told them to drop their previous assignments and head to the designated points.
Going over the arrangements again and confirming that they indeed covered the entire Maomu City urban area without leaving any gaps, Feng Yuan narrowed his eyes slightly, pulled out the pitch-black Ancient Book, and said,
"No more waiting. Since there’s no call, we’ll proceed according to plan and start the operation!"
He tossed the pitch-black Ancient Book up toward the sky and began chanting strange scripture. In an instant, the blue sky was replaced by an illusory Starry Sky.
Looking up at the illusory starfield overhead, Najia spoke with an ugly expression,
"What the hell is that starry sky full of death and darkness?"
Before Yang Hongzhi could speak, a mind-shaking roar rang out, and the figures of Shi and Xilnaes appeared within that illusory starfield just like that.
"Is that...the Guardian of the Yin World?"
Veronia looked at Feng Yuan in surprise. She really hadn’t expected Feng Yuan to summon the Guardians of the Yin World. Their strength was of course extremely great, but in theory this Time War was a matter of the Yang World; the Guardians of the Yin World had no reason, and weren’t supposed, to intervene.
Also, what the hell was that weird shadow?
Shi and Xilnaes crisscrossed in flight through the air, and a massive shadow of a city gradually fell from the illusory starfield toward the ground below, a terrifying Power of Death surging out from the city.
"The City of Death—or rather, the realm of the Undying."
With a cold smile, Feng Yuan watched the slowly descending City of Death. At this point, there was nothing more he needed to do. As the City of Death descended, the pre-arranged scriptures would lock onto all those rats that had infiltrated the surroundings of Maomu City.
After that, it would be time to clean out the vermin. And summoning the City of Death, he intended more than just a large-scale sweep.
Since the other side could even come up with the Rune of Twisted Beimode, he felt that returning the favor with a City of Death shouldn’t be out of line.
As for whether the other side could swallow this "grand gift," that was another question altogether.
"The City of Death—something on the same level as the City of Time?"
Veronia looked at Feng Yuan in surprise. She indeed had some impression of the City of Time from The Imperial Timeline. Although in Feng Yuan’s hands it had been about as sturdy as paper, she was very clear that this was only because Feng Yuan’s power was too outrageous.
The City of Death—would this thing’s appearance directly reverse the war’s balance? No, wait, the war was still in a standoff phase; it hadn’t truly started yet.
"More or less. But the City of Death won’t directly attack the enemy. It will merely, based on the nations they belong to, grant some of their former kings new life."
With a cold smile, Feng Yuan said. He had no intention of stepping into The Imperial Timeline again; in any case, the City of Death could achieve his goals for him.
Those resurrected kings wouldn’t be controlled by the City of Death. But The Imperial Timeline hadn’t always been a single nation ruling a whole continent.
Or rather, the nation ruling the continent had also gone through changes of Dynasty. When the last emperors, or the once-supplanted founding emperors, came back to life with their armies as undead, Feng Yuan was very curious what would happen.
Would they be able to negotiate peace and in turn focus their spearhead on the Main World?
