Chapter 2121: Chapter 2122: Cause for Worry
Although Feng Yuan pretended not to care much about this matter, Agunas still paid close attention, deciding to investigate the past when there was a chance.
After all, it’s a hidden danger. If the risk cannot be eliminated, something might happen at any time.
In the Thousand Heavy Cave, the myriad stone statues displayed the true temperament of various Spirit Beasts to Feng Yuan and the others. Thankfully, they didn’t find Xiao Ji’s statue inside the cave.
Not just Xiao Ji, even the statues of the Homeward Snake group didn’t appear in the Thousand Heavy Cave, which made Feng Yuan and the others breathe a sigh of relief, although Kong Qing felt a bit regretful about this.
After all, if there were stone statues of the Homeward Snake here, there could also be statues of its evolved form, which would serve as a good reference for Kong Qing.
After thoroughly exploring the Thousand Heavy Cave, Feng Yuan and the others stood in front of a huge reinforced glass, which was the entrance connecting the Thousand Heavy Cave to the Serene Forest Sea.
This entrance is not far from the edge of the Serene Forest Sea. Plus, from inside the cave looking out, there are babbling streams, verdant lawns, and animals active in the Serene Forest Sea, so the management decided to seal this place with high-strength glass, allowing tourists to enjoy the outskirts of the Serene Forest Sea from within the cave.
"This place looks like the edge of the forest. It seems quite beautiful."
Standing with hands on the railing, Feng Yuan admired the view outside the glass, while the Fluffy Fire Wolfhound yawned and swung its tail, unsure what Feng Yuan was doing there.
Qi Chen glanced at Feng Yuan and asked,
"Are you planning to take a stroll in the Serene Forest Sea?"
"No way, that place is quite dangerous, I wouldn’t go looking for trouble."
Rolling his eyes, Feng Yuan said irritably. He wouldn’t get into trouble by venturing into the Serene Forest Sea. And as for admiring the scenery?
Forget it. The outskirts of the forest are fine, but deep inside the forest, where the trees block out the sky, who knows what strange things you’ll see in that dark environment. Beautiful? Impossible. In such a place, there are no wildflowers; instead, beneath the trees grow all kinds of shade-loving plants, even fungi.
Those things are not considered beautiful in human aesthetics.
Anyway, Feng Yuan didn’t want to have a picnic in the dark forest, as there’s just too much weird stuff there.
"We’ve already finished exploring the Thousand Heavy Cave, and it’s still early. Where do you plan to go next?"
Veronia leaned against the railing, tilting her head to look at Feng Yuan, who glanced at the time on his phone and said,
"Hmm, maybe head back to Lin Du City for a stroll? After all, the only notable places in Lin Du are the ferry docks and the Thousand Heavy Cave."
As for the Serene Forest Sea? Forget it; Feng Yuan didn’t want to get close to this troublesome place. Even if he wanted Xiao Ji and the others to undergo some training, he wouldn’t choose this location, given that the Spirit Beasts here far exceed the power levels of Xiao Ji and the Fluffy Fire Wolfhound.
If they were to actually enter the Serene Forest Sea, both Feng Yuan and Agunas would have to act, but as for Xiao Ji?
Perhaps by using the Crystal Domain they could maneuver for a while, but unfortunately, against enemies far stronger than them, the battle couldn’t last long.
After returning to Lin Du City, Feng Yuan pulled up the city map and said,
"Let’s go to the outdoor equipment street; they have everything concentrated there."
"Outdoor equipment street?"
Veronia glanced at Feng Yuan with an odd expression. Could this guy be saying he doesn’t want to go in but is actually planning to explore the Serene Forest Sea?
Feng Yuan didn’t notice Veronia’s strange look. He lightly tapped the back of his phone with his right hand and said,
"I recall that outdoor equipment includes special field lighting. We should get a few, just in case the night ferry isn’t comfortable for resting... heh heh heh~"
Agunas looked at Feng Yuan speechlessly. This guy, isn’t he afraid of causing big trouble? But it seemed that even if Feng Yuan provoked all the Spirit Beasts along the coast, it wouldn’t be much of a problem.
Compared to Maomu City, Lin Du City’s development isn’t considered particularly good. However, being adjacent to the Serene Forest Sea, Lin Du City is better off than cities without any unique resources.
The outdoor equipment street Feng Yuan mentioned is not far from the Lin Du high-speed rail station. They had seen it when they exited the station earlier, though they didn’t realize that it was the place for camping and expedition gear sales.
As for security recruitment, that’s in a different location, given that hiring a Beastmaster is far more complicated than acquiring outdoor exploration equipment.
For safety reasons, registration and information entry must be conducted under official management to avoid unpleasant occurrences.
Feng Yuan and his group certainly didn’t need to recruit anyone. Not only did they have no plans to enter the Serene Forest Sea, given Feng Yuan’s power, even if they did enter, no one could guarantee his protection.
The outdoor equipment street didn’t feature the dedicated architectural decoration seen in Maomu City’s specialty streets. Various signs jutted out from the buildings, forming a chaotic yet uniquely interesting wall of signs.
Here, most passersby hurried along, with few as leisurely as Feng Yuan and his friends.
"Hmm, let’s check out this place first. For lighting equipment, portable options are better. Oh, and let’s see if there are any reports of missing research teams."
"Lighting equipment? I’ll help you look... Did you hear something?"
Qi Chen nodded in agreement, then suddenly reacted with surprise, looking at Feng Yuan. This guy, could he seriously be planning to enter the Serene Forest Sea to rescue people?
At that moment, even Long Boduo doubted Feng Yuan’s purpose for coming to Lin Du City.
With a chuckle, Feng Yuan scratched the back of his head and said,
"Of course not, but I’m just worried. Seeing these shops, I suddenly remembered the large-scale field survey plan recently. I’m afraid that when the time comes..."
Although unwilling to admit it, Feng Yuan truly worried they might encounter researchers in need of rescue.
"Heh, you admit it, huh~ But you’ll be disappointed. There haven’t been any reports of missing researchers in the Serene Forest Sea recently."
Veronia gazed at Feng Yuan with a smile, while Agunas flicked its tail and said,
"They should bring enough guards, so what you’re worried about is almost impossible to happen."
"At least, there’s currently no intelligence on emergencies in the Serene Forest Sea."
Looking towards the Serene Forest Sea, Agunas spoke softly. After all, the place is famous for its dangers, and researchers wouldn’t enter without thorough preparation.
"That’s good. I just fear that while taking the night ferry, encountering a Spirit Beast blockade urging us to rescue someone would be... quite annoying indeed."
With a laugh, Feng Yuan lowered his head awkwardly, while Agunas rolled its eyes and said disapprovingly,
"If you’re not up to any mischief, I don’t see such a possibility."
It didn’t quite believe such a thing would occur, as the safe routes, while termed as such, were simply because they contained special power, deterring Spirit Beasts from the Serene Forest Sea and dangerous microorganisms from approaching.
But it was merely deterrent, not impossible, and if pursued, escaping towards safe routes might not be wise since it could agitate the pursuers.
Moreover, experiments conducted previously introduced microorganisms from the Serene Forest Sea into the safe route. Surprisingly, rather than dying immediately, those microorganisms thrived frantically.
Like flowers blooming in their last moments, these microorganisms unleashed a terrifying destructive power in a short time.
The experimenter could have suffered severe injuries without telekinetic control. Bear in mind, the experimenter was a Legendary Level Beastmaster.
Thus, under normal circumstances, encountering danger in the Serene Forest Sea and fleeing towards water edges was often a poor choice, as it might bring about more significant danger.
"Let’s hope so. Who knows what the night ferry might encounter..."
Smiling, Feng Yuan said nothing more, while Dou Yanlan curiously asked Feng Yuan,
"Why not ask the shopkeepers?"
Previously they didn’t have the chance to inquire while heading to the Thousand Heavy Cave, but now that they were in the shop, gathering intel should be easy, right?
"Seems like... yes, indeed?!"
Stunned on the spot, Feng Yuan suddenly realized he could have inquired locally about why there were so few tickets for the night ferry chosen by people~
