Chapter 2099: Chapter 2100: The Final Match
With the awakening of the Netherworld Domain, the outcome was already decided. Although the opponent’s strength was much higher than that of Xiao Ji’s team, after all, they were in the same strength group.
Even though the talents were strong, they were limited in their strength. The event organizers wouldn’t pair two teams with an apparent strength disparity that was too large, otherwise, the competition would lose its fairness and meaning.
Although they all recognized that Xiao Ji’s move had unleashed a legendary-level ultimate move, they didn’t think there was a mistake in Feng Yuan’s team grouping.
The actual strength that can be displayed on top of apparent strength can indeed have a big gap, but they are all true geniuses. As long as there’s no deliberate concealment or falsification of apparent strength, even if Xiao Ji uses a more terrifying move, it won’t affect its ranking in the event.
After all, it’s not a conventional method. Which genius doesn’t have some sort of explosive skill? It’s just that Xiao Ji’s explosive skill is a bit more exaggerated.
The violent Netherworld Wind gradually dissipated, and once again, only Feng Yuan’s group remained on the field. Their opponents were directly transferred out of the combat zone due to the field’s protective mechanisms.
Regarding this, Feng Yuan was not surprised. The power of the single ultimate move enhanced by the domain awakening naturally made it easy to deal with them, but because Xiao Ji forced himself to use it, he simply couldn’t control the power.
If it weren’t for the protective mechanism here, Feng Yuan might not have even agreed to let Xiao Ji use this move, since Xiao Ji itself has problems with energy control over ultimate moves, and the ultimate move after domain awakening was in a state of loss of control.
It was already the limit to ensure that no collateral damage was caused to teammates, making it impossible to avoid causing irreversible damage to the opponent in a sparring match.
Especially as Xiao Ji becomes more familiar with domain awakening, the power of this single enhanced ultimate move becomes even stronger. If the opponent’s power isn’t strong enough, it’s not impossible for a tragedy to occur when such an out-of-control ultimate move hits.
"Let’s go~ But the next opponents will probably be focusing on Xiao Ji specifically. Your final battle won’t be easy."
Feng Yuan waved at Xiao Ji while giving a strange smile to Qi Chen and the others, to which Qi Chen casually replied,
"We’ve been lucky to get this far. Whether we win the first place doesn’t matter."
He was very aware that if it weren’t for the addition of Xiao Ji and the others, it would be extremely difficult just for him and Dou Yanlan to make it this far.
As for the last team they would face, not only were they the first in the standings, but they also knew most of our tactics, making it challenging to win through unexpected methods.
For Qi Chen, it was enough just to have tried hard. Whether they win didn’t matter much to him anymore.
As Feng Yuan and his team exited to rest, the matches of the other teams were about to start. However, at this point, neither the audience nor the judges seemed to focus on the arena anymore.
They were thinking about the domain awakening. To know that Feng Yuan’s Xiao Ji only had good-level apparent strength, yet it used an ultimate move with legendary-level power by borrowing the domain awakening.
Even though its potential was extremely high, it had already exceeded the normal state. This battle forced everyone to face the terrifying amplification brought by domain awakening.
Although it takes up a Guardian Beast Position, in many people’s eyes, domain awakening has become very important. By referencing the effects of the Crystal Domain, one can guess that the effect of domain awakening is sure to produce complete effects in all conventional strength stages.
Even if it’s just a single strike, even if at the legendary level it might only enhance an ultimate move by one power level, one cannot erase its power.
Compared to the battles where domain awakening appeared before, the subsequent teams’ use of the Crystal Domain seemed to leave the audience disinterested. After witnessing the power of domain awakening, the usual application of the Crystal Domain failed to amaze them.
In Feng Yuan and his team’s last battle, naturally, their opponents already knew that Xiao Ji could unexpectedly use domain awakening during the good-level stage.
To prevent the opponents from using domain awakening to turn the tables, they decided to deploy two flying spirit beasts specifically to chase Xiao Ji, maximizing the prevention of Xiao Ji from unfolding the Netherworld Domain.
Although the research into domain awakening was not deep enough, surface data already showed that domain awakening was not as casual as unfolding a Crystal Domain. Each spirit beast’s Crystal Domain for domain awakening was fixed.
Especially since this time, the awakening Xiao Ji performed was not the terrifying Round Moon Forest Domain, but rather chose a Netherworld Domain that only he could benefit from, confirming one thing to the opposing team, which is that Xiao Ji could only perform domain awakening on the specific Crystal Domain belonging to the Death Series or including the Ghost Series.
As for Ah Mu and the others, since they were common spirit beasts, they knew that the Giant Tree Demon could not master domain awakening, and the Hao Chun Bird, although capable of awakening a Forest Domain, had high strength requirements.
Aside from the Star White Lion, perhaps only the Fluffy Fire Wolfhound could perform domain awakening, which is why they only needed to prevent Xiao Ji, Star White Lion, and Fluffy Fire Wolfhound from unfolding or contacting the corresponding Crystal Domain.
At the start of the match, the three noticed something was off. Xiao Ji and the others were being closely watched, and the opponent’s Crystal Domain even deliberately avoided the attributes of Xiao Ji and the others.
Feng Yuan was somewhat helpless about this; although Xiao Ji was indeed the strongest presence in their team aside from him, they shouldn’t overlook Hao Chun Bird and Ah Mu.
Individually, Ah Mu or Hao Chun Bird might not amount to much, but together, even Feng Yuan couldn’t be certain what might happen.
After all, although the Hao Chun Bird lacked defensive abilities, this defect could be indirectly compensated by Ah Mu.
And for the cost of this defect and only being able to assist spirit beasts of specific attributes, the enhancement that Hao Chun Bird brought to Ah Mu’s strength wasn’t negligible.
While Feng Yuan wasn’t sure what kind of effect the combination of the two could achieve, as last time in the Earth Maze they relied more on the effects of the Mythological Moves. Now without the Mythical Transformation, and with the Hao Chun Bird unable to release domain awakening, Feng Yuan wasn’t certain if the two could pull off a game-changing move like Xiao Ji.
"Xing Bo, Prayer of the Stars, enhance Cotton."
While Feng Yuan was pondering these things, Dou Yanlan suddenly issued an order that puzzled him. Without hesitation, Xing Bo infused the power of Prayer of the Stars into Cotton, and the amplification ultimate move of the Mystic Series had additional amplifying effects on the Telekinesis Series Cotton, which is precisely why Cotton’s momentum surged instantly.
"Black Mist Domain, then Nether Blade!"
With a slight smile, Dou Yanlan spoke out. Though Cotton’s role was as support, under the effect of the Black Mist Domain, Cotton’s release of the Nether Blade couldn’t be underestimated.
Because the Nether Blade has a stacking effect, after release, multiple blades imbued with Nether energy would attack the enemy, and each successful attack would elevate the caster’s penetration power by one level.
Once fully stacked, each attack would penetrate nearly all defenses directly to inflict damage on the target.
When combined with the effects of the Black Mist Domain, Cotton’s attacks would bypass almost all defenses.
Even though Cotton’s attack capabilities were not remarkable, under such conditions, it could dish out damage comparable to typical strong attack spirit beasts.
Feng Yuan was well aware, however, that Cotton hadn’t learned many attack-based ultimate moves, since Dou Yanlan didn’t initially plan to train Cotton for offensive roles.
So... is she doing this to draw their attention?
With a thought, Feng Yuan looked at the opposing beastmasters; they were evidently concerned that Cotton might also launch unexpected attacks, thus they targeted Cotton the moment it received enhancements.
The Black Mist Domain hadn’t yet come into effect when it was covered by a new domain, and the Nether Blade was dodged by the opponent.
After all, the accuracy of this ultimate move isn’t very high; otherwise, its effects wouldn’t be so formidable.
"So, why strike at me?"
Saying it speechlessly, Feng Yuan waved his hand to summon The Black Scythe and casually knocked away the beast trying to sneak up on him.
You should know that he deliberately distanced himself from Qi Chen and the others to avoid those guys targeting him.
"Ignore him."
Noticing that Feng Yuan merely repelled the approaching spirit beast without causing any harm or pursuing them, the opposing team leader surmised something and instructed accordingly.
Even if it was just a guess, seeing Feng Yuan’s relaxed demeanor, he decided not to provoke him, likely because that guy’s strength was enough to easily crush them.
