Chapter 2037: Chapter 2038: Another Transformation
After the first round of attacks, Qi Chen and the others looked a bit grim. Although their attack had caused considerable damage, a yellow-brown streak of light flashed, and the shattered Rock Armor on the Armored Colossus instantly restored itself.
"Is this the second BOSS’s recovery ability? But how are they supposed to beat it? Inflicting massive damage in a short time isn’t something an average person can do, right?"
Feng Yuan said in amazement. This setup, isn’t it just making things difficult for people?
Veronia thought for a moment and said,
"Perhaps it’s a test of the team’s ability to execute a Combined Attack, but..."
She glanced at Xiao Ji and the others. Veronia didn’t think they could pull off a Combined Attack in a short time, because that’s something that requires long-term teamwork and isn’t as simple as taking turns in attacking.
Of course, with the original design of the Earth Maze, participants in the Earth Maze challenge could basically achieve this. After all, as third-year students, teams would have been long established, and they certainly would have a Combined Attack.
"Mythological Moves and the Crystal Domain should make up for this, but it’s really a hassle."
Scratching his head, Feng Yuan said with a headache. The opening of the Earth Maze didn’t seem to be fully adjusted. At least, along the way, they encountered a lot of content not suitable for freshmen to challenge.
However, considering there were instructors intercepting at the entrance, the academy probably took this issue into account. However, the enemy currently facing them seemed to be beyond Qi Chen and the others’ capabilities.
"Spatial Barrier, strong recovery, but lacking the resilience of the third?"
Dou Yanlan thought of something, her eyebrows furrowing. She didn’t think the three little BOSSes would be so simple, or rather, she felt those three little BOSSes were more like a test of strength.
However, although the Armored Colossus was similar to the Half-body Colossus, it didn’t fully possess the characteristics of the Half-body Colossus, or rather, what exactly were those characteristics?
High resilience? Strong attack power? Or stage transition?
She believed that the Half-body Colossus surely represented some combat ability of the Armored Colossus, but they hadn’t yet seen it manifest.
Xiao Ji let out a loud cry and flew into the air, the Barrier limiting its flight height. It seemed to be saying something to Ah Mu and the others.
"Xiao Ji wants to use Domain Awakening!"
Next to them, Feng Yuan heard Veronia’s translation and shouted loudly to Qi Chen and the others. Of course, he could also see that Xiao Ji wanted to use a wide-ranging attack, but he didn’t expect it to be Domain Awakening.
Domain Awakening combined with Mythological Moves should normally be enough to deal with the Armored Colossus, but Feng Yuan always felt it wouldn’t be that simple. As the final BOSS, it probably wasn't something Xiao Ji could easily defeat.
Of course, Feng Yuan didn’t say anything. Even if they failed, he and Veronia could still step in.
Knowing what Xiao Ji was going to do, Ah Mu and the others retreated. They had seen Xiao Ji’s attacks before, and if they stayed too close, they would definitely be caught in Xiao Ji’s attacks, which was why Xiao Ji had warned them beforehand.
Seeing that Qi Chen and the others had retreated to a safe area, before the Armored Colossus could catch up with them, Xiao Ji shook its wings, and the Underworld Domain unfolded. Peculiar Netherworld Plants swayed their strange bodies, once again descending into the real world. Without using Mythical Transformation, Xiao Ji directly activated Domain Awakening.
The aura of the Netherworld became increasingly intense. Within the range of the Underworld Domain’s coverage, all powers except for the Death Series and the Ghost Series were suppressed. The aura around Xiao Ji quickly elevated, and a pitch-black fireball condensed at Xiao Ji’s side, a transformation of its ultimate move occurring under the Awakening of the Underworld Domain.
However, this change was something Feng Yuan was seeing for the first time, so he didn’t know what changes would occur.
The pitch-black flames didn’t condense into a fireball but formed numerous flying long serpents circling around Xiao Ji continuously. As Xiao Ji guided them, the number of black flame serpents increased. If not for the interference of the Awakening Underworld Domain on energy affecting the Armored Colossus’s mobility, Feng Yuan had no doubt that the Armored Colossus would deliver a heavy blow to Xiao Ji, who was so daringly guiding its ultimate move right in its face.
"Sigh, this guy is really reckless."
Shaking his head, Feng Yuan gripped the pitch-black Ancient Book, ready to assist Xiao Ji at any time. There was no other way. Judging by the situation, Xiao Ji needed some time to guide its ultimate move, and although the Armored Colossus was disturbed and affected, it was also poised to attack.
Stone spikes flew toward Xiao Ji, and just as Feng Yuan was about to step in to protect Xiao Ji, Ah Mu acted. Due to the influence of the Awakening Underworld Domain, Ah Mu’s ultimate move power was greatly weakened.
However, its primary goal wasn’t to block the attack. Wooden spikes flew out, deflecting the stone spikes. Although such solid attacks generally had greater power, they could be deflected, causing them to miss.
Of course, to achieve this required very strong control over ultimate moves and energy, otherwise, a direct collision would trigger energy clashes resulting in chain explosions.
The flight speed of the rock spikes was not slow, so if a chain explosion occurred, Xiao Ji might be accidentally injured.
The deflected stone spikes whistled past Xiao Ji’s side, and although some hit the black flame serpents, the pitch-black flames seemed like black holes devouring everything. The stone spikes disappeared instantly when they entered the flame serpents.
Shortly after, Xiao Ji finished guiding its ultimate move, and at this moment, the Armored Colossus launched its second wave of attacks. Earth Stone Spears shot out like an arrow rain, but the black flaming serpents sweeping towards them made the result identical to that of the stone spikes.
The black flames, like a black hole that swallowed everything, engulfed all the Earth Stone Spears they touched. Swaying Netherworld Plants were scorched by blue flames, turning into blue Fire Dragons that entwined with the black flaming serpents and barreled towards the Armored Colossus.
The dual-colored flames charged at the Armored Colossus, and the Fluffy Fire Wolfhound’s eyes glowed. Compared to Xiao Ji, as a Fire-element Spirit Beast, the Fluffy Fire Wolfhound was obviously more interested in these fire-type attack techniques.
Unfortunately, the Fluffy Fire Wolfhound also understood clearly that it couldn’t possibly master such methods. Despite their fiery appearance, their essence was a Death Series ultimate move.
Although inanimate objects inherently had high resistance to Death Series and Ghost Series ultimate moves, with the effect of the Awakening Underworld Domain, the additional Corrosion Effect meant that their damage to the inanimate was no weaker than to living creatures.
When facing living creatures, the corrosive power would be diminished by their inherent Life Force, but the inanimate had no such corresponding resistance.
The black and blue flames instantly engulfed the Armored Colossus. However, at that moment, the Armored Colossus suddenly let out a roar, and numerous Half-body Stone Statues descended from the sky.
Before Feng Yuan could act, Veronia let out a light hum and waved her hand, the Domain of Mirror unfolding, continuously replicating the Crystal Burst to completely shatter all the Half-body Stone Statues appearing near Feng Yuan.
"Oh~ you’ve already gotten used to using the Crystal Domain~"
Feng Yuan said in surprise, taking a glance at Veronia. Although Veronia retracted the Domain of Mirror after clearing the nearby Half-body Stone Statues, he noticed it nonetheless.
After all, Veronia’s Crystal Burst didn’t usually cover such a large area.
"Of course, if it can save effort, why not do it? However, they might be in a bit of trouble~"
Veronia glanced at Qi Chen and the others, saying this. Although the Half-body Stone Statues around Feng Yuan had been cleared out in an instant, that didn’t mean all the descended Half-body Stone Statues had been dealt with.
The appearance of these Half-body Stone Statues was similar to the Half-body Colossus seen before. Feng Yuan was a bit suspicious whether this thing might be a smaller version of the Half-body Colossus, but the number of them was rather high.
Xiao Ji noticed the change, shook its wings, and spread its flames to consume the nearby Half-body Stone Statues. Unfortunately, during the burning of the Armored Colossus, a significant amount of the enhanced flames had already been consumed. Thus, even though Xiao Ji spread its flames, it only cleared the space around the Armored Colossus.
At this moment, the Armored Colossus, now burnt and corroded by the flames, looked quite miserable. The Rock Armor on its body was shattered, leaving only some fragments dangling stubbornly.
However, the Armored Colossus didn’t disappear because of this. Instead, its body shook, shedding the remnants of Rock Armor. Its energy-based body emitted a rainbow glow with flashes of various color lightning.
"Is this... a stage transition? Not surprising at all."
Feng Yuan glanced at the Energy Giant and sighed. This sort of thing would only be used in assessments or the like. In a real battle, Feng Yuan could dismantle this thing directly, not even giving it the chance to transition stages.
