"How about considering the Homeward Snake?"
Flapping its ears, the Little Husky glanced at Kong Qing who made the suggestion, noting that while the Homeward Snake didn’t have particularly outstanding domestic abilities, its unique personal space could be seen as a kind of alternative domestic Spirit Beast. Moreover, its strength was nothing to scoff at.
"Let’s just leave it to fate..."
Looking at the Little Husky, Qi Chen said with a hint of helplessness. He didn’t have Feng Yuan’s ability to gather a bunch of Spirit Beasts to follow him around. At that moment, Veronia looked at Feng Yuan discontentedly and said,
"Why are you ignoring me? I can help you carry supplies too."
"I’m not ignoring you, it’s just that I’ve already contacted Xilnais to come and remove the chains. Whether you’ll still follow me, I’m not sure about that."
Turning to look at Veronia, the Little Husky casually remarked, causing Agunas to pause and ask nervously,
"You’re planning to let it go? What if it goes off somewhere to rebuild Mitradite..."
"That’s for you to consider. What I need to do is simply restrict its actions to prevent accidents while it’s still unfamiliar with modern society. Now that it’s thoroughly acclimated to modern society, I don’t care what it wants to do. Besides, are there few among you Divine Beasts with bizarre ideas?"
Rolling its eyes and flicking its tail, the Little Husky said. Not to mention, it was still puzzled by Nierlat’s inexplicable actions. As for Veronia reclaiming land to rebuild Mitradite? They’d tried to talk her out of it so many times, but if she insisted on doing it, there wasn’t much they could do. Could they keep restricting Veronia’s actions indefinitely?
Gazing at the Little Husky for a long while, Veronia said,
"Are you serious? You aren’t afraid I’ll take over some territory in Great Xia?"
"Not afraid. Agunas won’t let you do that, and besides, it’s not really necessary anymore, right?"
After all, Veronia had already adapted to modern life. What she chose to do was none of his business. There were no Divine Beasts that didn’t do as they pleased. As long as they didn’t stir up trouble, who would bother with them? If Veronia dared to cause chaos, the other Divine Beasts wouldn’t just stand by and watch.
After a long silence, Veronia looked at Feng Yuan and said,
"So, do I have to leave?"
Shaking its ears, the Little Husky said indifferently,
"How could that be? Of course, you can stay if you wish. I never said I wanted you gone. Besides, that chain constraint is quite troublesome."
If it weren’t for its ability to suppress the chain, once they separated, the restriction would have likely activated promptly, considering the vast distance between the Land of Time Tr anquility and its original location. If not restrained, Veronia might have been forcibly pulled through the Spatial Barrier into the Land of Time Tranquility, which could have been harmful, as the barriers it passed through were strong ones, capable of injuring even Veronia.
"Since I have nowhere else to go for the time being, and you all do not permit me to rebuild Mitradite, where else could I go but stay here?"
Hearing Feng Yuan’s response, Veronia said with a faint smile.
Having returned home in the evening, Feng Yuan called for Xilnais, as they had agreed to deal with the matter today. It was just that it wouldn’t have been appropriate for Xilnais to appear outside since it was a rather special entity, and due to its special nature, it wasn’t suitable to be seen by the public arbitrarily.
After the chains were removed, Veronia didn’t leave but chose to stay by Feng Yuan’s side as usual. Not having a suitable place to go was another reason, as its former den was the World of Mirrors orb it carried with itself and unlike other Divine Beasts, it didn’t have a fixed lair to check on regularly.
As a being from the Mythical Era, it had no deep ties to the modern world. Wherever it went made no difference to it.
"Chartering a bus to go there? I thought we were taking the high-speed train."
At the meeting point, seeing a coach parked there, Feng Yuan was somewhat surprised as he said to Chen Xin. While the train might be a bit more expensive due to distance, the price shouldn’t be much higher, yet the train would be faster compared to the coach where they would have to stay inside for a more extended period.
"I can’t be certain if someone will be a little late, and waiting at the station might not be ideal for everyone."
As Chen Xin was busy gathering everyone, she took the time to explain to Feng Yuan. Bai You was also there helping to maintain order. After all, everyone was a bit lax now that it was holiday time. The departure time for the high-speed train was set, and she couldn’t afford to leave too much leeway. Compared to that, a chartered bus was more forgiving for latecomers. Once everyone was present, they could set off.
"So many people are bringing friends along~"
At this moment, Feng Yuan noticed quite a few unfamiliar faces in the crowd. Although this was a class activity, it didn’t mean they couldn’t bring friends and relatives as long as they covered the extra cost for the additional people.
"What do you want to say..."
Qi Chen looked at Feng Yuan, who was staring at him, speechlessly, and after a short while, understood the latter’s intention and said helplessly,
"Xiao Shuang is about to take the middle school exams, how could I possibly bring her along, not to mention she might not be willing to go on the trip with us."
Occasionally, she went out with Feng Yuan just to repay him for the help he had provided to their family. Truly going out for fun, Qi Xiaoshuang might not be willing to join them; after all, there was an age difference, and the things they liked might not be the same.
"Tsk–"
Turning around, Feng Yuan looked at the bus and asked,
"With so many people here, can we all fit?"
"We’ve already counted the number of people coming in advance, and no one has been added abruptly, so it should be completely enough."
Busy with her tasks, Chen Xin responded without turning her head, as she was not quite sure whether everyone had arrived yet. Shortly after, feeling that the headcounts were roughly correct, Chen Xin called for everyone to board the bus and confirmed the headcount at the door once more.
"We are still missing..."
After the last person boarded, Chen Xin frowned slightly as there were still a few people missing from the list. She wasn’t sure if they were just late or suddenly unable to come. After a moment of thought, Chen Xin took out her phone and started contacting those who had not yet arrived.
"What a hassle, it looks like someone hasn’t arrived yet."
Sitting in his seat, Feng Yuan commented while looking at Chen Xin making a call not far away. Beside him, only Xiao Ji and Kong Qing were present, along with two Divine Beasts. Currently, Kong Qing had transformed to make itself smaller and had hidden under the seat; they couldn’t help it, there simply wasn’t enough space in the bus to let out the Big Cat and the others, so they had to wait in Kong Qing’s Spirit Beast Space.
As for Kong Qing, it didn’t mind entering the Spirit Beast Space, but since it had not signed a Spirit Beast Contract with Feng Yuan, it naturally couldn’t rest inside the Spirit Beast Space.
After a while, those who were late finally rushed over. As soon as they got on the bus, their familiar classmates couldn’t help but complain, as they had been waiting for so long, and everyone was somewhat displeased.
After counting again and making sure everyone was present, Chen Xin informed the driver to depart. On the bus, Chen Xin repeated the itinerary and also explained why they had chartered a bus to Cha Mu Town.
Worrying about delays was one thing; arranging special scenic spots along the way was another important reason. The high-speed rail went directly to Cha Mu Town, with no intermediate stops, but Chen Xin’s planned itinerary included Qiaoshui Town, located between Cha Mu and Maomu, which could only be reached by road.
"Qiaoshui Town? Why doesn’t the high-speed rail have a stop there?"
Hearing Chen Xin’s arrangement, Veronia was puzzled because according to Chen Xin’s plan, they would spend a night in Qiaoshui Town, suggesting that the town must be fairly sizeable. So why...
"It’s too close, and it’s not a bus service. It doesn’t make sense to have a station at such a short distance. Besides, although Cha Mu Town is called a town, it is actually the main town within the entire Cha Mu area. It’s normal to have a station there. Qiaoshui Town is just an ordinary small town; it would be strange for it to have a high-speed rail station."
Shaking his head, Feng Yuan explained. Great Xia did not have the concept of counties; Cha Mu Town was the administrative and commercial center of the entire Cha Mu area, naturally different from ordinary small towns.
Veronia glanced at Feng Yuan and then turned to look at Agunas, taking a history document about Cha Mu Town from him and quietly reading it. However, Qi Chen and Dou Yanlan were not surprised by this, as in their minds, it was just so.
Looking at the fast-moving scenery outside the window, Feng Yuan yawned and said,
"Unexpectedly, even Guo Huai didn’t join this activity."
While he thought it was normal, he had wanted to tease Guo Huai about it, only to find that Guo Huai didn’t come at all. Qi Chen glanced at Feng Yuan and said,
"He’s not very familiar with most of the people in our class; naturally, he wouldn’t be very interested."
Going on a trip with a group of strangers, especially near the city where one lives, is not something most people would be interested in.
