"So, what exactly is this thing?"
Surprised, Фэн Юань asked Veronia, suppressing his urge to look up information. Veronia didn’t keep him in suspense; she looked at the floating rock and said
"It’s a prototype of the Resonance Stone, a partial form of the Starstone, capable only of drawing power from the Holy Stone but unable to exchange information with it."
"Wait a minute! Does that mean the Holy Stone of Kastantos is in the Huerma Sahara?"
Surprised, Фэн Юань looked at Veronia, not expecting this at all. After a moment of silence, Veronia nodded slightly and said
"It’s quite possible. There’s an issue with the structure of this pseudo-Starstone; it can’t draw power from too far within the rock network. This thing is probably the energy source for these ruins..."
"Is it wireless energy transmission? That’s quite advanced."
Looking at the floating pseudo-Starstone, Фэн Юань said with a peculiar expression.
As everyone was observing this pseudo-Starstone, Фэн Юань suddenly heard strange sounds coming from the front hall. The sound was somewhat noisy, like a group of people arguing.
Could it be that another team has come this way? But that doesn’t seem right; Фэн Юань didn’t think other teams could investigate this quickly. Although there was no danger along the way, based on the current setup, there might be more traps in other directions.
"I’ll go check what’s happening. Be cautious."
Фэн Юань initially wanted to tell Ци Чэнь and the others to wait there, but reconsidering the eerie nature of the ruins, he worried that having Long Boduo accompany him might make it safer for the others to stay behind.
He was getting ready to thoroughly study the legendary prototype of the Resonance Stone, but Wei Xue quickly put away her tools and beckoned everyone to follow Фэн Юань. It’s not that she feared danger; rather, she felt responsible for ensuring everyone’s safety and keeping them away from harm.
So in these ruins, if there’s any place safe, it’s likely by Фэн Юань’s side. Although they haven’t yet detected any malice from the ruins, she couldn’t be certain it’s truly safe.
With various Dynasties occupying and using these ruins together, there must be something extraordinarily special to warrant such a choice. Perhaps it’s the pseudo-Starstone or the mysterious Rock Peak. But she knew that when dealing with древний civilization ruins, being cautious is never too much.
"This is..."
Peering out from the door frame, Фэн Юань saw a group of people in древний clothing in the grand hall outside. Narrowing his eyes, he realized these figures seemed somewhat illusory. Were they Illusions?
With this thought, Фэн Юань stepped into the front hall, only to find all the arguing people looking at him. Long Boduo snorted and began gathering power to act. Фэн Юань furrowed his brow; these aren’t just simple Illusions?
The language they spoke was completely different from modern times, and since they weren’t Spirit Bodies, mental communication wasn’t possible. For a moment, Фэн Юань and his companions could only stare at the humans in древний clothing who gathered around, asking a few questions in confusion, while Фэн Юань was certain they didn’t understand him either.
Scratching his head, Фэн Юань said with a headache
"This is troublesome now. We don’t understand each other’s language. We can’t just call Agunas, can we?"
There were already two Божественный зверьs here. If Agunas came too, Фэн Юань felt like he was tackling some high-level dungeon, though it didn’t seem necessary.
"Do you all not deal with древний languages?"
Veronia looked at Wei Xue and her archaeologists in surprise and asked puzzledly. Wei Xue held her forehead and helplessly said
"I don’t know why you have that impression, but we truly have no way with древний spoken languages. When it comes to written characters, we can deduce conclusions through evolution and comparison with known scripts. Spoken language, however, requires us to travel back in time. But, you should be aware..."
"Looks like we’ll have to call the Little Crocodile. But what exactly is this information supposed to convey?"
Looking puzzled at the group of древний human Illusions, Veronia said confusedly. Remembering something, Фэн Юань turned to Veronia and said
"Do you know what this is? Is it related to the Rock Peak again?"
"More or less, it seems a bit like the influence of a Record Stone, but Record Stones don’t create such illusory images. However, considering they made a pseudo-Starstone, perhaps this thing is indeed a Record Stone. But it’s preserved so completely?"
Pinching her chin, Veronia was amazed, wondering what was happening with Kastantos. At least, whether it’s a Record Stone or a Starstone, they are core operational facilities of Kastantos. But to be preserved so intact, did they employ some means of self-protection?
"Although we can’t understand their words right now, there’s one fortunate thing I think you all should know. It seems this place uses or imitates Kastantos’ city management mode. Although I don’t know why entering the rear hall activated the pseudo-Starstone we’d assumed to be an Energy and control core, at least for now, these things pose no threat.
Of course, if you feel uneasy being watched by them, there’s little I can do. Although I know how to shut this thing down, it wasn’t created by Kastantos. Doing so might cause unforeseen circumstances."
With a light chuckle, Veronia turned to Фэн Юань and his group, frowning, Фэн Юань asked in surprise
"How do you know how to shut down Kastantos’ city management system? I don’t think they’d teach you that. After all, to them, you could be considered adversaries."
"What do you think? Perhaps it’s not something they taught me themselves~"
Фэн Юань suddenly smacked his forehead. He had forgotten; both Mitradite and Kastantos were entire nations, and Veronia was merely one of the overt managers. Wouldn’t they gather intelligence on their opponents? Impossible not to. As an overt national administrator, Veronia could certainly access these other countries’ secrets.
Фэн Юань even suspected she might have read them as leisure material during her initial exploration.
"Wait, since you’re able to control that management system, does that mean the threat of these ruins is essentially eliminated?"
Remembering something, Фэн Юань exclaimed in surprise. Veronia looked at him, saying
"Probably not. While I might attempt something with Kastantos’ management facilities, here... they poorly imitate Kastantos so much that I’m really concerned it might collapse at a touch."
"That seems to be the case. But if we turn off that pseudo-Starstone, will the traps become ineffective?"
"In theory, yes. But if they’ve imitated it well, it also maintains and repairs the city. Of course, it doesn’t quite look like a city at the moment. It’s just that..."
Thinking it over, Veronia said, uncertain if there’s a larger city hidden elsewhere. After all, even in Kastantos, this system wasn’t used for palace maintenance.
Rather than saying it’s overkill, it’s more about the system’s complexity. If merely employed for palaces, it would occupy over half the palace group’s area.
Of course, they might be hidden elsewhere because these stone constructs tend to be quite large.
"I could give it a try. If obtaining legal status is possible, you all won’t face obstacles here. Just a warning, since it’s imperfect, I’m uncertain about any unintended consequences."
Seeing Фэн Юань, Veronia said she’s not sure what would happen if she dealt with it using the techniques for Kastantos’ Starstone, encountering potential mishaps isn’t impossible. After all, beyond anything else, this device appears extremely flawed to her.
"Hmm... If there aren’t any defensive measures, let’s hold off for now, as everyone’s opinion is quite important too."
Thinking it over, Фэн Юань didn’t agree to Veronia acting immediately, considering he’s uncertain about others’ thoughts. Although he believed Veronia’s proposal was sound, it wasn’t his leading mission.
