After a long rest, Class 3 students finally regained their combat ability. At this time, the Class 1 students were not here. Facing this relatively open training ground, they naturally didn’t feel embarrassed about being single-handedly defeated by Feng Yuan before. After all, that was their classmate. Although he was a bit impulsive when he acted, in the end, he was still their classmate.
Losing to their classmates didn’t make them feel embarrassed. On the contrary, Feng Yuan, because of the strength he displayed earlier, attracted the attention of many senior students. With such strength, he could undoubtedly join their team for various academy missions.
However, Feng Yuan politely declined their offers. Fortunately, Yang Hongzhi came over with Xiao Hei and the others shortly after. Seeing Feng Yuan’s situation, he stepped in to help him out. Upon learning Feng Yuan was a reserve team member of Yang Hongzhi’s team, those senior students had no choice but to give up regretfully.
Even before Yang Hongzhi became a Divine Pact Maker, they were one of the top ten teams in the academy. Not to mention that after Yang Hongzhi became a Divine Pact Maker, he was one of the few students in the academy who could participate in the regional beast taming competition.
"Thanks for your help. But why are you here? I remember you should be training for the regional beast taming competition, right?"
Glancing at Yang Hongzhi, Feng Yuan asked puzzledly. He shook his head and said
"Although that’s the case, it’s impossible to train every day because this matter depends more on talent. Hard work isn’t useless, it’s just the results are too slow."
"So, are you a hard-working type?"
Feng Yuan chuckled while teasing. Actually, although Yang Hongzhi’s strength skyrocketed after acquiring Najia, that doesn’t mean he wasn’t diligent in the beginning. You can tell from his beast taming. Both Xiao Hui and Xiao Hei are common beast types among civilians. Although Xiao Hei is a Spirit Beast regulated by the Alliance, as long as there’s someone in the family working in the department that handles Flame Wolfhounds, they can manage to get a young Fiery Hound.
But it was precisely this Yang Hongzhi. Their team could secure a top ten ranking among Class 1 students who had beasts with various strong innate potentials. This can only mean that they trained very hard daily.
Even when they were on a trip, Yang Hongzhi would find opportunities to make up for Xiao Hei and Xiao Hui’s missing training times. Compared with beastmasters whose strength skyrockets due to talent, their growth might not be fast, but their foundation is deep. At the same level, it’s hard to tell who would win or lose in a true fight.
"I wouldn’t say that; I can only say I’m an average person, different from those who train hard every day."
"Tsk, if others heard that, they’d probably want to beat you. Alright, Xiao Ji is probably impatient now, I’ll head off first."
Watching Feng Yuan and Xiao Ji start training again, Yang Hongzhi smiled and playfully tugged Xiao Hei’s ear, who was trying to pretend to be sick and said
"Don’t slack off, otherwise I’ll bring you back for more training tonight."
Whining softly, Xiao Hei looked at Yang Hongzhi with a face full of grievance.
At that moment, Feng Yuan, along with Xiao Ji, shouted while rushing towards Ah Mu and Cotton, who were training nearby
"Watch out~"
Glancing at each other, the two of them tacitly commanded their beasts to join forces against the enemy. Cotton instantly released fog, and the Seistal Stele summoned by Ah Mu retracted all its light and energy fluctuations. Seeing this, Feng Yuan reminded Xiao Ji
"Be careful! Xiao Ji, Ah Mu is scheming something~"
Although he found it strange what Feng Yuan meant, Xiao Ji stayed on guard. Soon, Xiao Ji detected the Seistal Stele hidden in the fog. Startled, Xiao Ji quickly elevated higher, but by that time, Ah Mu’s objective had already been achieved.
The Seistal Stele exploded in mid-air, unleashing a violent wood-element Energy Impact at Xiao Ji flying in the air. At this moment, Xiao Ji folded its wings, and a black spherical Energy Barrier, like a heavy Shield, protected the Xiao Ji within it. Noticing this, Feng Yuan paused in astonishment and said
"I didn’t expect Xiao Ji to have an Ultimate Move other than attacks."
Of course, he recognized it as Xiao Ji’s newly developed Divine Beast Technique, not an offensive type, which was quite surprising given that Xiao Ji mostly had Offensive Ultimate Moves. Xiao Ji let out a disgruntled cry, seemingly hurrying Feng Yuan to attack. With a grin, Feng Yuan raised his Longbow and said to Qi Chen
"Be careful~"
Hearing Feng Yuan’s warning, Qi Chen’s gaze tightened, and Dou Yanlan became cautious. Xiao Ji wasn’t hard to deal with, but Feng Yuan... Even if he only used Xiao Ji’s power, he could still pose a significant threat to them, with little chance of them winning.
Even so, they wouldn’t surrender. Cotton glanced at Dou Yanlan and lashed its tail to strike first, sending a wave of white mist hidden in the fog towards Feng Yuan. However, Feng Yuan easily sensed the hidden trick.
A black arrow blew away the mist with a gust of wind, and just as the arrow was about to hit Cotton, a giant wooden hand emerged from the ground and grabbed the arrow tightly. Seeing this, Feng Yuan leaped suddenly. Below him, another big hand shot out from the ground, and Feng Yuan aimed his Longbow at the giant hand.
"Impressive, if you’re not careful, there’s no way to avoid it~"
Praising, Feng Yuan shot another pitch-black arrow. Taking this opportunity, Cotton suddenly dashed to Feng Yuan’s side. After a strange cat cry, the surrounding environment distorted. From the outside, this area appeared filled with mirrors twisting the space.
Seeing their flashy attacks, the people around were stunned. They didn’t expect such Ultimate Moves would appear in the hands of new students. Not only their classmates but also the senior students’ gazes towards Qi Chen and Dou Yanlan changed.
Since they couldn’t win over Feng Yuan, considering the two new students wasn’t a bad idea. However, they hesitated a bit since Qi Chen and Dou Yanlan didn’t have Feng Yuan’s extraordinary strength. Even if they compared, it might be just at the level of excellent first-year students. Recruiting them into their team early might pose risks.
Currently, it might be them giving more benefit to Qi Chen and Dou Yanlan, but this bet is on the future. No one knows if Qi Chen and Dou Yanlan would become formidable in the future. However, based on the current situation, apart from Feng Yuan, they might be among the top in their grade.
Seeing Qi Chen and Dou Yanlan being strong like that, other classmates couldn’t hold back their excitement and began teaming up with new friends to imitate Feng Yuan’s battle style. Unfortunately, their beasts knew too few Ultimate Moves, and their fights resembled a bunch of rookies scratching at each other.
By noon, Feng Yuan originally wanted to take Xiao Ji to the cafeteria for some food when Yang Hongzhi approached and said to Feng Yuan
"The cafeteria staff came over. You can tell them what you want, and the cafeteria will deliver it later."
"Eh? Delivery? But why not offer online ordering?"
Upon hearing Yang Hongzhi, Feng Yuan asked somewhat curiously. Glancing at Feng Yuan, Yang Hongzhi helplessly chuckled and said
"It’s mainly for data safety because the cafeteria uses some of the academy’s student database data, so that side is strictly controlled. Even the person helping with the ordering is using a special device to swipe student cards. By the way, did you bring your student card?"
"Well, I brought it, but doesn’t this thing seem pointless? Isn’t cash usable? But speaking of which, why would it involve the academy’s student database?"
Scratching his head, Feng Yuan was puzzled, and Najia chimed in
"Because after the official start of the semester, apart from class rewards, the academy will occasionally hold various events, during which, besides regular rewards, there will be vouchers and credits as rewards that can be used on campus. The cafeteria is naturally a place where they can be spent, hence the system."
"Vouchers and credit rewards? Won’t it be a loss if you haven’t used them by graduation?"
"How’s that possible? After graduation, those credits will be converted into cash by the academy, though typically except for small amounts, most people don’t keep them that long."
Saying this, seeing Feng Yuan’s disbelief, Yang Hongzhi amusedly said
"Those credits can be used at the academy’s logistics department to purchase various materials at slightly below market prices. If you don’t believe it, go check out the logistics center. They only accept credits, not cash, meaning in the academy, cash may not be as welcomed as credits because the logistics center occasionally gets hold of rare materials."
