Agunas glanced at the embarrassed woman, flicked its tail, and said,
"It wasn’t Lord Chiyan who gave him that thing, but rather his father’s ancestors once fought alongside Lord Chiyan, and this Судьба Stele was a gift from Lord Chiyan at that time. They just didn’t expect it to be passed down and forgotten by their descendants, who couldn’t even recognize what it was."
The woman sighed, looking at the Судьба Stele on the bedside table, and said,
"When we saw him holding that thing before, we thought he just found it amusing. We never expected..."
"I see, but his purpose might be to accelerate the evolution of the White Mist Egg, right? After all, frequently causing misty weather could only be for this reason."
Glancing at the White Mist Egg next to the other’s pillow, Фэн Юань thoughtfully said, after all, the White Mist Egg is a special kind of Духовный зверь. Although it usually hatches naturally, misty weather can speed up its hatching process, allowing it to evolve into a Mist Flood Дракон more quickly.
However, doing so doesn’t have much meaning, as it’s apparent that the boy is far from being able to form a Taming Beast Contract with a Духовный зверь. Evolving the White Mist Egg so early might lead it to become like Qi Xiaoshuang’s White Shadow Wolf, with power that cannot be suppressed, making it impossible to sign a contract early on.
Of course, that White Shadow Wolf could at most be the second beast to sign a contract, as the growth rate of a Духовный зверь’s strength slows significantly later on. If not for the special non-evolution trait of the White Shadow Wolf, the situation of its power being unsuppressible wouldn’t have occurred.
"This White Mist Egg isn’t ours; it was a Духовный зверь that Ziming brought back some time ago to take care of. We don’t know where its parents are."
Looking at the White Mist Egg sitting next to Kang Ziming’s pillow, she said helplessly. During the conversation, everyone learned about the situation; this White Mist Egg had an unknown encounter and was picked up by Kang Ziming and brought home. Initially, they thought about sending the White Mist Egg to a rescue center, but it seemed to have chosen Kang Ziming.
And since he kept saying it was a promise with its parents to take care of it until they returned, they eventually did not send it away. When Kang Ziming had an accident today, they realized the White Mist Egg was missing, but the unexpected events caused by the dense fog, along with Kang Ziming’s severe injuries, kept them from searching for the White Mist Egg.
Now, learning from Фэн Юань about the Судьба Stele and Kang Ziming’s recent actions, even his mother suspected whether he was lying. After all, normally there’s no need to try to hasten the White Mist Egg’s evolution; it’s widely acknowledged that letting it hatch naturally is the best way to handle Духовный зверь Eggs.
That’s how they taught Kang Ziming as well, yet he still...
"Hey, he’s awake."
At this moment, Фэн Юань noticed Kang Ziming’s eyes move. Although with a Духовный зверь present, recovering from even severe injuries was simple, he was still a child, and recovering quickly from such serious injuries wasn’t easy.
Holding his head, Kang Ziming sat up whimpering softly, although he had received treatment, the pain from the impact had not yet dissipated. The White Mist Egg stood up, using its eggshell-like body to support him. Before Kang Ziming could speak, his mother Liu Yueping began angrily scolding him.
There was no choice; Фэн Юань had clearly explained the aftereffects of the Судьба Stele to her. If he had done more than just change the weather, the consequences wouldn’t have been as simple as being hit by a car. Фэн Юань took a few steps back in shock, Agunas glanced at Фэн Юань and flicked its tail while Veronia observed the furious Liu Yueping curiously.
After a while, seeing Kang Ziming thoroughly cowed, Liu Yueping tried to calm her emotions so he could rest. Then Chen Hu stepped forward to ask Kang Ziming,
"Hello, little Kang Ziming, I’d like to ask you a few questions."
Seeing Chen Hu’s uniform, Kang Ziming was startled and quickly lay back down, pulling the covers over himself, looking at Chen Hu with confusion. Puzzled, Chen Hu asked,
"What’s wrong with him now?"
"He’s probably scared by your uniform since he did something wrong, right?"
Фэн Юань chuckled, glancing at Chen Hu and then signaling Белусир for help. Among them, aside from Liu Yueping, only the amicable Белусир might be able to calm him down.
After a while, under Белусир’s persuasion, Kang Ziming peeked out from under the covers, nervously staring at Chen Hu. Фэн Юань, holding the Eggshell Chicken form of Xiao Ji, stepped forward and gently asked,
"We’re not here to catch you, though using the Судьба Stele to tamper with the weather is indeed not right. However, that item was given by Lord Chiyan, so if there’s an issue, he also needs to be responsible, right?"
"I did overlook it; I didn’t expect that thing to cause this situation."
Lord Chiyan said as he approached. When Lord Chiyan appeared, everyone present couldn’t help but gasp in low voices since most of the hospital’s patients were local to Chidu City, and they were certainly familiar with the city’s two Legendary Духовные звери.
"I gave him this item back then, and I naturally won’t take it back. But you should keep it well; there’s no need to use it carelessly. You also don’t have to worry about someone stealing it. This item can only be used by his bloodline. Those who can unlock its restriction have no need to steal it, and those who would steal it can’t unlock it themselves."
Summoning the Судьба Stele, Lord Chiyan observed it and spoke, then the stele landed in front of Liu Yueping. Taking the stele, she knew well that Lord Chiyan’s last words were a warning to others; otherwise, she wouldn’t dare keep it myself.
Even with side effects, who wouldn’t be tempted by a tool that could interfere with fate?
After thinking for a moment, Chen Hu said to Liu Yueping,
"If you’re worried about its safety, it can be stored at our Special Duty Team. We have a dedicated vault for storing such items."
He wasn’t trying to do anything, as ultimately, this was just a tool given by Lord Chiyan. With the relationship between the Special Duty Team and Lord Chiyan, if they wanted to research it, Lord Chiyan wouldn’t be stingy about one or two pieces of the Судьба Stele. But despite Lord Chiyan’s warning, it still posed some risk for ordinary people. There’s always going to be some fool who doesn’t know better.
The Special Duty Team’s vault is there to store such items. Just as Liu Yueping hesitated, Фэн Юань stepped forward, looking at Kang Ziming, offering Xiao Ji with a smile, and asked,
"Can I ask why you wanted to accelerate the evolution of the White Mist Egg? Don’t say that wasn’t your intention. Using the Судьба Stele to cause misty weather during the summer is no easy feat."
Though the Судьба Stele can interfere with fate, causing heavy fog in Chidu City’s summer is a rare occurrence. Influencing the weather with the forces of fate would be more challenging than causing a rainstorm or the like. As for having other motives? Фэн Юань really didn’t believe there could be such a coincidence.
"I... we’re moving, but its parents haven’t come to pick it up, so I..."
Looking at the White Mist Egg beside him, Kang Ziming whispered the reason for his actions. This White Mist Egg was indeed entrusted to him by a pair of Mist Flood Драконs. It was during a rare foggy day when he was playing hide-and-seek in the park with friends and accidentally encountered the pair.
The Mist Flood Драконs gave the White Mist Egg to Kang Ziming, hoping he could take care of it until they returned. Originally, he was taking care of the White Mist Egg and occasionally taking it to the park, waiting for its parents to return. However, his father suddenly had to move the entire family out of Chidu City for work. Worried the parents wouldn’t find the White Mist Egg upon their return, Kang Ziming planned to use the power of the Судьба Stele he discovered by chance to speed up its evolution.
This way, it could at least live independently in Chidu City. Although Kang Ziming wanted to take it with him when leaving, he feared what might happen if the parents returned and couldn’t find it.
However, Kang Ziming wasn’t aware of the Судьба Stele’s side effects, so when he used it again today, he suffered from backlash, and the White Mist Egg probably intended to find Lord Chiyan at that time.
After all, the Судьба Stele had a brief description of it, which is why Kang Ziming knew it was Lord Chiyan’s gift and frequently spoke well of Chiyan to the White Mist Egg.
"Didn’t you consider handing over the White Mist Egg to the Special Duty Team or a rescue organization for care?"
Фэн Юань asked Kang Ziming, puzzled, while looking at him doubtfully.
