Hu Jixi also used the Damascus forging technique, stacking the same kind of spring steel as Dali Ben, although the composition varies quite a bit, so after the etching, the pattern on this sword is more pronounced.
The sword was then handed over to Beck beside him.
Hu Jixi’s face once again showed that kind of serious and earnest expression.
Beck had been eagerly waiting to see Hu Jixi’s sword.
The blade is straight, without the slightest bend. From the perspective of the pattern, the West Wave Sword forged by Dali Ben, which used spring steel and high-strength nuts from inside the engine cover, doesn’t show much difference in the properties of steel. Therefore, the Damascus pattern forged by Dali Ben is relatively light in color, while Hu Jixi’s use of steel with quite different properties brings out a much more attractive pattern.
Beck put down the sword and said, "Honestly, I really like the pattern on this sword."
The sword was then passed to Dog.
And Hu Jixi’s face revealed a relaxed smile once again; having passed the first two rounds, there usually isn’t much of an issue with Dog, since as a practical expert, there isn’t even a sword handle yet, so Dog typically holds a neutral stance if the sword doesn’t have any fatal problems.
Sure enough, Dog examined it seriously, nodded, and said, "The blood groove reduced the weight, making the whole sword very light, and I’m also quite looking forward to the final feel of this sword."
After placing down Hu Jixi’s sword, it was finally Li Younan’s sword with its unique design’s turn, at which point the eyes of the three judges and other contestants were focused on this peculiar sword.
The trio seated at the judging panel immediately felt the comparison with the swords of the other three contestants.
The completion of Li Younan’s sword is extremely high, yet to what extent specifically, it still needs a closer examination.
Nelson had been eyeing this sword for a long time.
In fact, when Li Younan was forging the steel, he occasionally took a glance.
After all, Li Younan used the best steel, in addition to his eligibility for this event due to his craftsmanship in hand-forging powdered steel, which is high-performance yet very challenging to handle, with certainly unique qualities.
The sword was brought over.
Nelson leaned closer to observe the sword, his pupils flickering slightly.
In fact, compared to the legendary sword from the original, this one is scaled down quite a bit.
It’s apparent; the original exceptional sword exceeds 1.2 meters in length, but due to limited steel and the requirement to forge a 50 cm sword within three hours, it would not be feasible to forge such a large sword, so the entire sword was reduced proportionally to 56 cm.
However, after downsizing, it made this unique design look even more exquisite.
Nelson examined carefully, seeing the entire sword matte and black, without any joints or adornments, with sharp and sleek lines, and what surprised him more about this sword...
He looked up and asked, "Does this sword not need an additional handle?"
As from the design, the sword body came with an integral handle.
Li Younan nodded and said, "Yes, the handle position has been specially treated by me. Although it’s integrated with the blade, the grip feel is distinct."
Nelson was somewhat surprised, then looked at Dog next to him and said, "You can feel the grip of this sword directly."
Then he continued to closely observe Li Younan’s sword, noting the raised spine with a sharp ridge down its length.
The most distinctive feature of the sword lies in its unilateral guard, narrowing gradually, giving a custom feel, yet appearing as a natural formation.
In fact, this exceptional sword has some differences from the original.
These differences come from Li Younan’s divine forging skills, which led him to make adjustments instinctively.
Design is such a fantastic thing; a slight shift in some detail could evoke a completely different perception.
This exceptional sword is no different; although the shape is the same as the original, it appears far more stunning in person, with the entirely black sword body exuding an extreme sense of mystery.
Nelson took a few deep breaths; the feeling wasn’t as obvious from a distance, but at this moment, he had a strong sense that this is the most breathtaking sword he had seen.
However, as a judge, he did not intend to show this feeling too evidently, then restrained his excitement and commented, "The entire sword, with the handle seamlessly merging with the blade, sharp and distinct lines, not cumbersome, three-edged convergence, sharp and erect, with a handle featuring three tight rows of threads for grip, making slashing and thrusting very smooth."
Then Nelson passed the sword to Beck, who had been watching intently; Beck focused on the design and aesthetics.
The entirely black finish gives a hellish feeling, but upon closer inspection, it surprisingly reveals a cloud-like dense pattern, without any reflection, yet the blade’s edge emanates a slight cold glow, conveying an understated yet ultimate sense of pressure.
Beck was very surprised, as a professional master of Damascus forging, he had an almost obsessive love for the Damascus pattern.
In fact, all swordsmiths participating in the Sword Forging Competition are very fond of the Damascus forging method, largely due to its aesthetics.
