After reading out the overall scores for the candidates from the four major districts, Gong Liansheng continued, "I have to say, this year’s House Entrance Examination has been incredibly gratifying. Aside from a few districts that showed significant decline, the candidates from the other regions have made immense progress. The North District candidates, in particular, were a huge surprise to me this year. Although, for me personally, the better the North District’s scores, the worse off I am. But for the West Mansion, this is a wonderful thing. As a member of the West Mansion, I am overjoyed that we can add so many outstanding disciples like you to our ranks."
"Additionally, two major districts broke their previous records for overall scores this year, which just goes to show the high quality of this batch of candidates. Coupled with the emergence of geniuses like Yuh Jili and Tang Yi, this year’s House Entrance Examination has been truly spectacular."
"Next, I will announce the top ten individual rankings for this House Entrance Examination."
"First place... I don’t think I need to say much about this one, do I? Tang Yi, with 543 points!"
"Second place, Yuh Jili, with 63 points."
"Third place, Tang Piaomiao, with 35 points."
"Fourth place, Bai Ye, with 33 points."
"Fifth place, Tang Shu, with 31 points."
"Sixth place, Mu Xianling, with 29 points."
"..."
"Furthermore, candidates who passed the House Entrance Examination mission may keep their Demon Beast Crystals. Those who did not pass the mission must hand over their Demon Beast Crystals and leave the West Mansion. Finally, in addition to the Demon Beast Crystals serving as a reward, the top ten candidates will receive extra, generous rewards! Will the top ten candidates please come to me later to collect your prizes."
ROAR!
Hearing that there were extra, generous rewards for the top ten, the candidates from the four districts’ eyes lit up with envy.
Although Gong Liansheng hadn’t specified what the rewards were, for them to be prizes for the top ten, they had to be extraordinary. Perhaps they were peerless treasures, Divine Pills, or even Divine Weapons—anything was possible.
Of course, the better the score, the better the reward. The prize for first place was sure to be something to die for.
However, all they could do was look on with envy. After all, it was their own lack of strength that kept them from earning those rewards.
"Alright, the announcement of the scores is complete. Now, will all candidates who did not pass the House Entrance Examination please leave the premises. Those who did pass should remain in the square and prepare to choose which Outer Mansion you wish to enter."
Gong Liansheng paused for a moment before continuing, "Our Outer Mansion is divided into the Eight Palaces, as I’m sure you all know. I will now give you a brief introduction to the general situation and cultivation focus of each of the Eight Palaces. In a moment, the Eight Palaces Masters will stand in eight different areas. After listening to my introduction, if you are interested in a particular Palace and wish to join it to pursue their Martial Dao, then you will walk to that Palace’s area and stand with its Palace Master. That is all. Now, are there any questions?"
"No!"
The candidates below shouted in unison.
"Good. Then let me introduce you to the Outer Mansion Eight Palaces."
Nodding, Gong Liansheng began his introduction. "The Outer Mansion Eight Palaces are the Qian Palace, Kan Palace, Gen Palace, Zhen Palace, Xun Palace, Lii Palace, Kun Palace, and Dui Palace."
"The Qian Palace focuses on the Five Elements Dao, following a path of ferocious and domineering Attribute Attacks. Their Martial Techniques are infused with Five Elements Attributes. Those who master it can unleash Flames Filling the Sky, split metal and shatter stone, create an Ice Heaven and Earth, or make their blades as hard as iron. They are extremely powerful, and it is one of the top three Palaces in the Outer Mansion Eight Palaces in terms of overall strength."
GASP!
Hearing Gong Liansheng’s description, a wave of sharp inhalations went through the crowd. Their gazes toward the Qian Palace now held a new level of reverence, and also a fiery passion.
It was no wonder the crowd reacted this way. If Tang Yi hadn’t already made up his mind, even he might have been swayed by that introduction.
Seeing the candidates’ reactions, the Hall Master and Elders of the Qian Palace puffed out their chests and raised their heads, their faces filled with pride.
Gong Liansheng then began to introduce the second one. "The Kan Palace focuses on the Dao of Medicine. They generally don’t prioritize Attack Power, instead advocating for using martial arts to cultivate the body and nurture one’s character. Disciples who enter the Kan Palace can also study Alchemy, and Alchemy is the most sought-after profession on our continent. For disciples who dislike fighting and killing, this is an excellent choice. Furthermore, thanks to the long-term nourishment from Pills, the physical strength and Martial Arts Level of Kan Palace disciples increase the fastest!"
Gong Liansheng had laid out the advantages of the Kan Palace in one go, once again causing the candidates’ eyes to light up.
Next, Gong Liansheng introduced the advantages and focuses of the other Palaces.
The Gen Palace. The Gen Palace focuses on the Artifact Dao and also practices Artifact Refining, cultivating their martial arts through artifacts. This is also an excellent choice. A good weapon often provides a huge advantage against others of the same Level.
The Zhen Palace focuses on the Form Dao, with an emphasis on body training. The disciples of the Zhen Palace possess the most formidable physiques.
The Xun Palace focuses on the Killing Dao, achieving the Dao through slaughter. The disciples of the Xun Palace are generally the ones who enforce the laws of the West Mansion. It is one of the top three Palaces in terms of overall strength.
The Lii Palace: Sword Dao. The phrase ’to roam the world with sword in hand’ describes them perfectly. Their swords never leave their sides, and they cherish their blades as they do their own lives. It is one of the top three Palaces in terms of overall strength.
The Kun Palace: Divine Shadow Dao, focusing on Body Techniques.
And finally!
The Dui Palace: Intention Dao, focusing on Spiritual Power.
When he mentioned the Dui Palace, the Hall Masters and Elders of the other seven Outer Mansion Palaces subtly curled their lips. They seemed disdainful and disgusted, as if being ranked alongside the Dui Palace was an embarrassment to them.
However, their movements were very subtle and not openly displayed; they simply looked down on the Dui Palace in their hearts.
After briefly introducing the Outer Mansion Eight Palaces, Gong Liansheng addressed the candidates in the square, "Alright, the Elders of each Palace will now take their positions. Candidates, you may now make your choice. A reminder: the three thousand Great Daos all lead to the same destination. The Outer Mansion Eight Palaces simply have different focuses. What truly matters is your own strength and Martial Arts Level. Don’t think that just because a Palace’s introduction doesn’t sound impressive, you shouldn’t choose it. I’m telling you, there are only lazy disciples, not weak Daos. The profundity of each Palace’s Dao is beyond what you can imagine! Even with the Dao of Medicine, its killing Techniques are powerful beyond your wildest dreams!"
At this point, Gong Liansheng had finished his final summary, and the representatives of the Outer Mansion Eight Palaces had each taken a position, awaiting the candidates’ choices.
Of course, some candidates had already been contacted by the higher-ups of the Outer Mansion Eight Palaces before the House Entrance Examination and had already reached an agreement. After the examination, these candidates were set to join the Palace that had recruited them. Therefore, as soon as Gong Liansheng finished speaking, these disciples headed straight for their designated Palace’s location.
Those who remained standing in place were the ones who had not been contacted by the West Mansion Outer Mansion Eight Palaces and had not been recruited. They appeared hesitant, unsure of which to choose.
At this moment, in order to attract more outstanding disciples to their respective Palaces, the Hall Masters and Elders of the Outer Mansion Eight Palaces were not idle. They all began to entice the candidates with enviable promises.
And the competition to recruit Tang Yi was the most intense of all.
