Weaving through the layers of the sword net, Tang Yi reached Xuu Junfeng’s side and sent him flying with a single palm strike.
Although the fifth match took a bit of effort, Tang Yi still won with ease.
After finishing the five matches, Tang Yi didn’t queue for another. Instead, he exited and returned to the Qi Shield.
The five placement matches were over, and his final rating was about to be revealed.
"How did it go, Brother Tang Yi?"
Wang Bi’Er asked the moment she saw him.
"You know me. Of course I won all five matches."
Tang Yi took off his mask and said to Wang Bi’Er with a smile.
He wasn’t queuing for spars anymore, so he no longer needed the mask.
"That’s not what I meant. Of course, I knew you would win all five matches, Brother Tang Yi. I’m asking about your opponents. During the five placement matches, the stronger your opponents are, the higher your placement score will be. This means your final rank will also be higher," Wang Bi’Er said.
"My opponents?"
Tang Yi thought for a moment, then said, "My opponents were decent. The one in my final match was even a Two-star Battle King. I never thought I’d run into a Battle King Level disciple in the Outer Mansion. I assumed I’d only see that level in the West Mansion Inner Mansion."
Wang Zongyao was from the West Mansion Inner Mansion, and his strength was only around the One-star Battle King Level. That’s why Tang Yi naturally assumed all Battle King Level disciples would be recruited into the Inner Mansion.
However, he hadn’t expected the Outer Mansion to have disciples with that kind of strength as well.
"You actually ran into a disciple at the Two-star Battle King Level? In that case, Brother Tang Yi, you should rank in the top 50 at least."
Wang Bi’Er nodded, then smiled and explained to Tang Yi, "Brother Tang Yi, it’s not strange to run into a Battle King in the Outer Mansion. The top two hundred disciples on the Outer Mansion rankings are all at the Battle King Level. They are the geniuses among geniuses, the most outstanding members of the West Mansion Outer Mansion. The reason they haven’t entered the Inner Mansion is simply that the entrance exams haven’t started yet. Only after passing the Inner Mansion exams can they become Inner Mansion disciples."
"I see. No wonder I ran into a Battle King Level disciple in the Outer Mansion. So you have to take an exam to get into the Inner Mansion." Tang Yi had a sudden realization, but then a question occurred to him. He immediately asked, "But what if they don’t pass the Inner Mansion exam?"
"If they don’t pass the exam, they naturally can’t enter the Inner Mansion. Of course, there are exceptions. Some disciples with truly exceptional Talent and immense strength will be specially recruited into the Inner Mansion even if they fail the exam. However, they don’t receive as many resources as the disciples who passed the exam to get in."
"The top 100 on the rankings, people like you, Brother Tang Yi, are guaranteed to be specially recruited into the Inner Mansion. Moreover, with your Talent, Brother Tang Yi, the Inner Mansion definitely won’t place any restrictions on your resources. They will surely provide the very best to nurture you," Wang Bi’Er explained with a smile.
"I see." Tang Yi nodded. ’If Wang Bi’Er weren’t here, I really wouldn’t understand all these intricacies. The West Mansion is incredibly complicated.’
Just then, Wang Bi’Er urged, "Alright, that’s enough talk. Brother Tang Yi, hurry up and check the panel to see your placement score. That’s what we’re all waiting for."
"Yeah, Brother Yi, I’m dying to know what score you got. Hurry up, take a look, and tell us," Tang Piaomiao added.
"Honestly, we don’t even need to look to know. Brother Tang Yi’s score is definitely going to be high, and his rank will be near the top. He might even take first place in the Outer Mansion in one go," Tang Shu said, full of confidence in Tang Yi.
Tang Baijie and Mu Xianling also looked over, their eyes filled with curiosity. Clearly, they also wanted to know what results Tang Yi had achieved.
After all, when Tang Yi had gone to fight his matches, he had been teleported to another location, so they knew nothing about what had happened.
"Alright."
Seeing how interested everyone was, Tang Yi nodded and looked toward the Light Curtain inside the Qi Shield.
Name: Temporary ID 59416
Level: Unknown
Victories: 5
Defeats: 0
Score: 15,659 Points (Temporary)
Rank: 2
Placement Matches: (5/?)
As level and strength could not be determined, the score remains temporary. Placement matches are set to unlimited until level and strength can be assessed, at which point the placement period will conclude.
After reading the information on the Light Curtain, Tang Yi’s first reaction was surprise.
After just five matches, he had actually reached 2nd place on the Outer Mansion rankings with a score of 15,659.
’If I remember correctly, the disciple in first place has a score of 15,660, right?’
’Doesn’t that mean I could take first place with just two more points?’
’So I just need to fight one more match?’
Then, he saw the last line of text and was even more surprised.
’After all that, after five placement matches, the score I got is still temporary!’
’It couldn’t determine my Level and strength?’
But when Tang Yi thought about it, it made sense.
He had just fought five matches, but aside from using his Formless Divine Shadow Step a little in the final match, he hadn’t used any other techniques. He had defeated those five Outer Mansion disciples relying on his fists and feet alone.
’Since I didn’t use any real power, how could the Eight Palaces Deer Battle Hall have possibly detected my strength?’
So, it wasn’t surprising that it couldn’t determine his strength and Level.
"Well? What is it?"
Seeing Tang Yi staring at the Light Curtain in a daze, Wang Bi’Er was both curious and anxious, as if she were waiting for her own results, not his.
"15,659 points, ranked second. The Light Curtain says it couldn’t determine my Level, so it’s still a temporary score. It also changed my placement matches to ’unlimited,’ saying they won’t end until my Level can be determined," Tang Yi told Wang Bi’Er what he had read.
"It couldn’t determine your Level? And your placement matches became unlimited?" Wang Bi’Er was stunned. Then she asked, "Brother Tang Yi, don’t tell me you didn’t even use a single technique when you faced that Battle King Level Outer Mansion disciple?"
Wang Bi’Er was a little surprised by the score and rank Tang Yi had received, but not overly so. After all, with Tang Yi’s strength, achieving such a result was expected, and she had already prepared herself for it.
What truly shocked her was that the Eight Palaces Deer Battle Hall couldn’t even detect Tang Yi’s Level, leaving his score as temporary!
There was only one explanation: Tang Yi hadn’t shown any of his real power and had breezed through the placement matches so easily that the Eight Palaces Deer Battle Hall couldn’t get a reading.
"That’s right. I don’t think I really used any," Tang Yi said after a moment of thought.
"Freak."
Wang Bi’Er muttered to herself. Tang Yi’s answer confirmed her suspicion: he really hadn’t used a single technique. He had effortlessly completed his placement matches with five straight victories and taken second place on the Outer Mansion rankings.
Even though he wasn’t first, it was still a shocking achievement.
