Elder Wan Sibo found it a little hard to believe. 'When did the examinees from the North District get so strong?' he thought. 'They were never this formidable in previous years.'
Moreover, both groups of examinees who had crushed their Help Stones were eliminated by examinees from the North District. That was too much of a coincidence.
"Hey, wait a minute!"
As if he'd just realized something, Elder Wan Sibo hurriedly asked the examinees, "You... which districts are you all from?"
"I'm from the East District, Elder."
"Me too, East District."
"I'm from the West District."
"South District."
"South District."
"West District."
"East District."
The examinees answered one after another.
"So you're saying you're all examinees from the Three Major Zones—the East, West, and South Districts—and not a single one of you is from the North District? And the ones who robbed you, who forced you to quit, were all from the North District?"
After hearing the examinees' replies, it finally dawned on Elder Wan Sibo. 'So it turns out that in these two eliminated groups, there isn't a single examinee from the North District!'
And the ones who eliminated them were all examinees from the North District!
In that case, this year's examinees from the North District were quite skilled...
"Yes, Elder. All of us are from the Three Major Zones, and the ones who eliminated us were indeed from the North District." An examinee glanced around before replying to Elder Wan Sibo.
His curiosity about the North District examinees piqued by this confirmation, Elder Wan Sibo turned back to the eliminated group from the Three Major Zones and asked, "Let me ask you, how many North District examinees were there that eliminated you? How strong were they?"
Hearing this, one of the examinees from the group of twenty who had been eliminated together replied, "Reporting, Elder, the group of North District examinees that took us out... there were seven of them. Wait, no, it was one person. As for his strength... it's hard to describe..."
As he spoke, a look of lingering fear appeared on the examinee's face, as if the mere memory of that North District examinee's strength was enough to terrify him.
"What? Seven of them defeated over twenty of you?"
Elder Wan Sibo was stunned for a moment, then said irritably, "You're not making any sense. First you say seven people, now you say one. Speak clearly! Exactly how many were there?"
"Uh, to answer the Elder, the group of North District examinees who eliminated us... there were seven of them in total, but only one of them actually fought!" the examinee replied again, abashed.
"What? You were defeated by a single person? And that's why you crushed your Help Stones?"
Elder Wan Sibo stared as if he'd just heard something utterly unbelievable, his eyes wide and his face a mask of complete bewilderment.
If this group of over twenty examinees from the Three Major Zones had been defeated by seven North District examinees and forced to give up on the House Entrance Examination, that would have been understandable. After all, it was entirely possible for seven skilled examinees to deal with over twenty rookies.
But for one examinee to take on over twenty others... in Elder Wan Sibo's view, that was completely impossible.
Two fists are no match for four hands. No matter how powerful a person was, how could they possibly handle attacks from all sides? And this was just an examinee!
If it were some powerful expert, it might be possible. But an examinee? How could one person possibly defeat more than twenty others?
The only way that could happen was if the twenty-plus defeated examinees were completely useless, or if that one North District examinee was absurdly powerful.
But... Elder Wan Sibo glanced at the group of over twenty examinees. No matter how he looked at them, they didn't seem useless. In fact, there were quite a few Battle Grandmasters among them, and even some talented prodigies at the Battle Spirit Level.
How could a team like that possibly be useless? In that case, there was only one possibility left.
That North District examinee had to be a Demon! However... He was just an examinee, after all. How much of a genius could he really be? Even if he was stronger than other examinees, it wouldn't matter when facing twenty people alone.
Shaking his head, Elder Wan Sibo just couldn't wrap his mind around it. And yet, the examinees before him didn't seem to be lying. It was all very strange.
Turning his attention from the group of twenty, Elder Wan Sibo walked over to the other group of more than forty examinees. He asked them, "What about you? How many North District examinees eliminated you? What was their strength? Don't tell me... it was just one person for you, too?"
"Answering the Elder, it's true. Just like them, we were also defeated by a single examinee from the North District," the questioned examinee replied. "That North District examinee was just too strong. None of us could Resist a single one of his attacks. We had no choice but to give in and withdraw from the House Entrance Examination."
"What!! You were also defeated by a single examinee? It was really the same person?!"
Hearing this examinee's answer, Elder Wan Sibo was even more stunned. The group of twenty being defeated by a single North District examinee was one thing, but now this group of over forty was also defeated by just one person from the North District?
That was more than forty people! No matter how powerful the opponent, you could surround them and wear them down! How could they possibly lose to one person?
'Did a North District examinee become an immortal?' 'Does he have to be this incredible?'
'He can win one-against-forty?' 'How is that possible?'
At this moment, an examinee from the group of twenty spoke up, "Elder, I don't know if it was the same person, but I do know that the North District examinee who forced us to withdraw from the House Entrance Examination had no trace of a Martial Artist's aura. He seemed like a completely ordinary person. His moves were simple, but those simple techniques carried immense Power, making him impossible to match. That's why..."
"Ah! It was the same for us!"
A student from the group of forty-plus stood up and said in surprise, "The North District examinee you met—did he have a faint smile on his face the whole time? And when he attacked, he didn't even use any Martial Techniques, just a completely ordinary punch that could send people flying?"
"Yes, that's exactly it," the examinee from the group of twenty nodded.
"It seems we ran into the same team, the same North District examinee. He's too powerful. He's unassuming until he attacks, and when he does, it's astonishing. His Speed is incredible, and while he looks ordinary, the might of his moves is unparalleled. Also, I suspect he's the same examinee who reached second place on the West Mansion's rankings. Otherwise, he couldn't possibly possess such strength!"
"So you ran into him too! Now that you mention it, I'm certain. I only had a vague suspicion before, thinking he was the examinee ranked second, but now I'm sure of it! To think the person who got second on the rankings is actually from the North District, and that his strength is on a whole other level!"
