Fifty or sixty Battle King Powerhouses. Such a force was utterly terrifying.
By that count, the Skeleton Warship had more Battle King Powerhouses than the West Mansion!
And that wasn’t all!
Figures swarmed the deck of the Skeleton Warship. An aerial gangplank extended from it, latching onto the Void Warship.
Immediately after, countless masked figures with skull emblems on their chests rushed out of the Skeleton Warship, pouring across the gangplank and onto the Void Warship.
CLATTER!
One after another, an endless stream of Martial Artists rushed out from the Skeleton Warship and onto the gangplank.
Although these men couldn’t fly and lacked the power of a Battle King, they radiated a potent aura, every bit as strong as the Battle Spirit Powerhouses from the West Mansion.
The West Mansion had dispatched just over a hundred Battle Spirit Level powerhouses to act as guards for the candidates, but at least several hundred masked Martial Artists were now charging from the Skeleton Warship!
They completely outnumbered the forces from the West Mansion!
In terms of both Battle Kings and Battle Spirits, the powerhouses from the Skeleton Warship outnumbered those from the West Mansion by two to one. The situation was dire for the West Mansion!
"Face the enemy!" Elder Lu roared, and he was the first to charge forward.
SWOOSH!
With a single wave of his embroidered robe, a dozen masked Martial Artists trying to cross the gangplank were swept away by a tremendous force and plummeted from the sky.
"Kill!"
The West Mansion’s powerhouses followed Elder Lu’s lead and charged into the fray.
The Chief Examiners flew into the sky to engage the Battle Kings emerging from the Skeleton Warship, while the rest of the West Mansion’s forces defended the far end of the gangplank to Resist the masked Martial Artists charging onto the Void Warship.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
In an instant, the two sides clashed, and the scene descended into utter Chaos.
The battle on the gangplank was still manageable. With Elder Lu holding the line, not a single masked Martial Artist was able to break through the West Mansion’s defenses and board the ship for the time being.
If those masked Martial Artists were allowed to board the ship, the consequences would be unimaginable.
The candidates on the Void Warship were mostly at the Battle Grandmaster level. How could they possibly Resist masked Martial Artists who possessed the power of Battle Spirits?
Therefore, defending the gangplank and preventing the masked Martial Artists from crossing was absolutely critical.
The battle in the sky, however, was far more perilous.
Due to the sheer number of Battle King Warriors from the Skeleton Warship, the West Mansion’s Chief Examiners often had to face two or even three Battle Kings at once!
The slightest mistake would be fatal.
The battle in the sky had turned, and they were now at a huge disadvantage.
"AARGH!"
A Chief Examiner from the West Mansion let his guard down for a moment and was caught in a pincer attack. The Battle Kings crushed his chest, and he started to Fall from the sky.
They were three thousand meters in the air; a fall from this height was unsurvivable.
Had any of the candidates from Yuanfeng City been paying attention, they would have recognized the Chief Examiner plummeting to his death. It was none other than their own Chief Examiner.
Just one double hour ago, they had seen his hearty smile. Now, all that remained was a blood-soaked face plunging into the endless Abyss below.
"Aargh! Help me!"
THUMP!
Another Chief Examiner was slain, his body falling from the sky.
Moreover, more and more Chief Examiners were succumbing to exhaustion or getting cornered. One by one, they were defeated by the Battle Kings from the Skeleton Warship, and the situation grew increasingly desperate.
Elder Lu glanced at the battle in the sky and sighed. He had no choice but to abandon his post at the gangplank and fly up to help the Chief Examiners.
Otherwise, in a matter of moments, all the Chief Examiners would be wiped out.
This was an outcome Elder Lu could not accept.
Once Elder Lu joined the battle in the sky, the pressure on the Chief Examiners eased considerably. With him leading the charge, they began to counterattack, no longer purely on the defensive, just trying to Resist.
SWOOSH!
CRACK! CRACK!
Elder Lu’s Speed was incredible, a full display of a Battle Emperor Powerhouse’s might. With two casual palm strikes, he shattered the skulls of two Battle King Powerhouses from the Skeleton Warship, killing them instantly.
BAM!
He threw another punch, and the sheer force of the shockwave it generated killed another Battle King Powerhouse from the Skeleton Warship, sending his body plummeting from the sky.
Among the crowd of Battle Kings, Elder Lu, a Battle Emperor, was like a tiger loosed in a flock of sheep. His casual movements unleashed a storm of blood and gore; his power was terrifying.
The Battle Kings from the Skeleton Warship couldn’t even Resist a single casual strike from Elder Lu, a testament to just how formidable a Battle Emperor Powerhouse truly was.
"Hmph!"
Just then, a cold snort echoed from the Skeleton Warship. Immediately after, a Martial Artist wearing a black robe and a golden mask flew out.
After emerging from the Skeleton Warship, he shot directly toward Elder Lu.
"I am your opponent!"
The golden-masked Martial Artist roared, closed the distance to Elder Lu, and immediately engaged him in battle!
He was another Battle Emperor Level powerhouse!
In the distance, Tang Yi’s brow furrowed tightly as he watched the Battle Emperor Level powerhouse. ’If I’m not mistaken,’ he thought, ’this must be the Battle Emperor I detected earlier.’
With this new Battle Emperor’s arrival, Elder Lu was completely occupied. The tide turned once more, and the battle in the sky again fell into a disadvantage. The Chief Examiners were in grave danger.
But that wasn’t the most terrifying part...
Back at the gangplank, under the relentless assault of countless masked Martial Artists, the West Mansion’s defenders finally broke.
The masked Martial Artists broke through their defensive line, swarmed onto the ship, and began an inhuman slaughter of the candidates.
The candidates were instantly plunged into despair.
They wanted to fight back, but before the masked Martial Artists, they were like helpless chicks, utterly powerless to resist.
In the span of just a few breaths, nearly a dozen candidates from the Thirty-Six Cities were killed. The scene was like something out of Hell.
As more and more masked Martial Artists broke through the line, the number of casualties among the candidates from the Thirty-Six Cities skyrocketed.
Those candidates who once fancied themselves geniuses were now scared out of their wits, crying for their mothers and fathers. Some of the once-proud female candidates were pale with fright, sobbing uncontrollably in utter despair.
Perhaps the only one who remained calm through it all was Tang Yi.
"Stay behind me. Don’t run off," Tang Yi instructed.
Wang Bi’Er, Mu Xianling, and the three from the Tang Family were terrified. They wouldn’t have dared to run off anyway. Hearing Tang Yi’s command, they immediately and obediently hid behind him.
SWISH!
A masked Martial Artist, brandishing a Great Saber, charged toward Tang Yi and his group.
In this masked Martial Artist’s eyes, Tang Yi’s group was no different from the other candidates, so he charged without any particular caution.
Of course, not that any amount of caution would have helped him.
With a slight flick of his wrist, a Wind Blade instantly materialized in Tang Yi’s hand.
"Gale Blade!"
SWOOSH!
Tang Yi flung the Wind Blade from his hand.
