"Alright."
Tang Yi was noncommittal. He wasn’t going to explain to Elder Fang that his confidence came from his immense strength. Some things didn’t need an explanation; everyone would find out eventually.
After bidding farewell to Elder Fang, Tang Yi led the group into the passageway.
Just as Elder Fang had said, after passing through the passageway, the large hall on the left was the Eight Palaces Deer Battle Hall, and the smaller hall on the right was the Ranking Hall.
Tang Yi first led everyone to the Ranking Hall.
Although it was called the Ranking Hall, it was still a hundred meters wide, easily rivaling the main halls of other places. It was just that the halls in the West Mansion were so immense and magnificent that a structure of this size was relegated to being called a mere "hall."
Upon entering the Ranking Hall, they found it was just as Wang Bi’Er had described. Aside from a Light Curtain along one wall, the hall was completely empty, feeling exceptionally spacious, almost like a small plaza.
Of course, there were already several dozen people inside, filling some of the space. Otherwise, it would have seemed even more vacant.
Among these dozens of people, a few were disciples from the West Mansion’s Dui Palace, but most were candidates from the current House Entrance Examination.
This made it clear just how few disciples the West Mansion’s Dui Palace had. It was a rare occasion to see any, and even then, there were only a handful.
"Brother Tang Yi, this is the Ranking Hall. That Light Curtain over there is the ranking board for the disciples of the Outer Mansion’s Eight Palaces," Wang Bi’Er explained to Tang Yi.
"Mm, let’s go take a look."
Tang Yi nodded and led the group to the front of the Light Curtain, examining it closely.
On the Light Curtain, thousands of lines of information were displayed...
1st Place: Qian Palace, Chu Mingyue, Victories: 273, Defeats: 0, Rating: 15660.
2nd Place: Qian Palace, Chu Nan, Victories: 356, Defeats: 1, Rating: 13113.
3rd Place: Qian Palace, Le Ling, Victories: 466, Defeats: 1, Rating: 13112.
4th Place: Lii Palace, Xiang Moyang, Victories: 404, Defeats: 1, Rating: 13111.
5th Place: Gen Palace, Mu Yuchen...
6th Place: Lii Palace...
3000th Place: Dui Palace, Chu Ranli, Victories: 989, Defeats: 206, Rating: 10131.
The Light Curtain displayed three thousand entries. It seemed the ranking board only listed the top three thousand strongest disciples of the Outer Mansion Eight Palaces.
The ranking board didn’t just show the disciples’ names and which palace they were from, but also comprehensive information such as their number of victories, defeats, rating, and so on. It was incredibly detailed.
After everyone had seen the information on the Light Curtain, Wang Bi’Er began to explain from the side, "The rankings for the Outer Mansion Eight Palaces disciples are determined by their rating. The higher the rating, the higher their rank. The rating itself is a comprehensive assessment based on victories, actual combat performance, and a disciple’s Level."
"Of course, while the rating is earned through strength, it isn’t everything. Sometimes, a disciple with a lower rating can still defeat one with a higher rating, becoming a dark horse. However, such situations are extremely rare. They typically only occur when a disciple makes a breakthrough and challenges again, or if they experience a sudden, explosive burst of power during a match. After all, the West Mansion’s rating system is quite sophisticated and its calculations are very accurate. Barring any surprises, the disciples with the higher ratings will always reign supreme."
"Furthermore, a thousand points is a major threshold. A gap of over a thousand points is an insurmountable chasm; their strengths are worlds apart. Take the current second place, for example. His rating is 13,113, while the first place has a rating of 15,660. That’s a difference of 2,547 points. With a gap that large, even if the second-place disciple performed perfectly, used his Martial Techniques to their absolute limit, and exhausted all his Techniques, he still couldn’t possibly beat first place. The difference in their strength is simply too great. In fact, the second-place disciple is more likely threatened by the third and fourth-place disciples, since they are only one or two points behind him. Their strengths are virtually neck and neck."
"And if you defeat a disciple ranked higher than you, you will take their rating and even gain several hundred extra points. For instance, the current second place has 13,113 points. If he were to defeat first place, his rating would surpass 15,660, and he would take the top spot. The original first place would then fall to second, but their rating would remain unchanged at 15,660. Of course, a situation like that is highly unlikely to happen."
Hearing Wang Bi’Er’s explanation, Tang Yi looked at the ranking board with growing interest. His curiosity piqued, he turned to Wang Bi’Er and asked, "Bi’Er, let me ask you something. Can we candidates go to the Eight Palaces Deer Battle Hall to spar? And if we can, will our results be rated and ranked on the board?"
"Of course. As long as you have a Temporary ID, you can spar with the West Mansion Outer Mansion disciples in the Eight Palaces Deer Battle Hall. But... to get on the ranking board, your rating has to surpass the disciple in 3000th place. After all, the board only shows the top three thousand disciples in the Outer Mansion," Wang Bi’Er replied.
"So, what if I participate? What rank do you think I could get?" Tang Yi asked with a smile.
"Well... with Brother Tang Yi’s strength, you’re more than qualified to enter the Inner Mansion directly. So, none of the Outer Mansion disciples should be a match for you. Getting first place wouldn’t be a problem, but..."
Wang Bi’Er’s expression turned strange mid-sentence. She lowered her head in thought for a moment, glanced at Tang Yi, and suddenly burst out laughing with a "PFFT!"
"But what? Bi’Er, what’s wrong? Is there something on my face?"
Tang Yi gave Wang Bi’Er a puzzled look, then touched his face to check if it was dirty. Why else would she be laughing so hard?
"No, I was just wondering. Brother Tang Yi, you’re only a candidate; you haven’t passed the House Entrance Examination and become an official West Mansion Disciple. So, if you were to compete in the Eight Palaces Deer Battle Hall and actually get on the ranking board, what do you think it would display? ’Temporary ID 59416’? HAHA! Can you imagine the looks on the faces of the West Mansion Disciples if that appeared on the board? And what about the Hall Masters and Elders of the Outer Mansion palaces? What a sight that would be! I can’t—just imagining it is hilarious." As Wang Bi’Er spoke, her laughter grew even more joyful.
"Oh? So that’s what you were laughing about. I thought I had something on my face." Tang Yi understood now and chuckled. "Now that you mention it, that does sound even more interesting. But, if my temporary identity appears on the ranking board, will the higher-ups at the West Mansion find out who I really am? It wouldn’t be much fun if my cover was blown."
"Don’t worry, they won’t. A temporary identity is just a temporary code name. It doesn’t contain any of your information, Brother Tang Yi. There’s no way for them to know who you are," Wang Bi’Er explained.
"That’s good. In that case, I’ll go have some fun at the Eight Palaces Deer Battle Hall and see if my temporary number can make it onto the ranking board."
Hearing Wang Bi’Er’s explanation, Tang Yi felt relieved. After all, he still had to participate in the House Entrance Examination to help the Tang Family’s disciples and the candidates from the North District get into the West Mansion. He couldn’t afford to expose himself here.
