The day after Guru feasted on the fish she caught—
With her heart set straight once more, Guru’s mission for today was:
‘Bring back the egg!’
Guru stole a glance at the camera from beside Jurim.
Today, she would capture Daddy’s coolest moment on film.
“Bawk, bawk!”
Once again, the sturdy hen sat glaring as she brooded over her eggs.
After a brief staring contest with the hen, Guru tensed her body and glued herself to Jurim’s side.
Guru knew.
She knew the cameraman was hoping to capture the tragic moment of Mama Hen being separated from her Baby Egg!
But things weren’t going to go according to the cameraman’s expectations.
Because today—
‘Daddy’s here!’
Usually a lazy bum and a total slacker. But his true identity was the Rank 1 Hunter, On Jurim!
Something like sneaking off to the supermarket could easily be done without anyone noticing.
Confident that Jurim was thinking the same as she was, Guru whispered to him:
“Daddy, shouwd we get da bike out?”
“Hm? The bike? Why? You wanna ride it?”
“Shhh! Shhh! Y-you can’t say it wike dat out woud!”
Flustered, Guru tugged on Jurim’s arm when he cluelessly repeated her question out loud.
But having absolutely no idea what a bicycle had to do with getting eggs—
“Huh?”
—Jurim casually reached out and lifted the hen with both hands.
“Bawk?!”
The startled hen’s eyes widened like saucers.
Guru and Mephisto both flailed their arms and wings in panic.
“P-put it downnn!”
“Gotta take the egg.”
“But, but... Mama and Baby gonna cwy!”
“Yeah. That’s sad.”
Saying that, Jurim plopped the egg straight into the basket he brought.
Guru clung to his leg, howling as he carried the egg away.
“Waaah~ we couwd’a just bought one at da stowe~!”
Seeing his daughter clutching his leg with teary eyes, Jurim sighed like he had no choice.
“Then Daddy’s gotta go play the tambourine again.”
Dooong—!
A completely unexpected response.
He was saying that he’d tear a mother and child apart... for that ridiculous reason?
‘Rank 1 Hunter who secretly infiltrates the supermarket’—is that really impossible after all?
Meanwhile, Jurim patted Guru on the head and strolled off to Kazuki.
“Bawk!”
Tossing the hen aside and leaving with just the egg, his retreating figure looked downright cruel and cold.
‘Again...? I faiwed again?’
She really thought she’d get a cool shot of Daddy today.
Sniff! Guru swallowed her snot again.
“Hyuung...!”
The camera zoomed in on Guru’s quivering face.
She stuck her lower lip out and wiped her tears with the back of her hand.
‘What shouwd I do?’
Daddy turned out to be way more useless and heartless than she expected.
And so, on her second day, Guru was met with another tear-stained failure.
The long-awaited final day.
Guru was picking chili peppers in front of a garden bed piled high with potatoes.
Because grown-up Jurim whined about hating potato side dishes, all the poor potatoes had been dumped and left to rot.
Beside her, Mephisto and Veilach were plucking perilla leaves to help out.
Not just Guru, Mephisto, and Veilach—everyone had taken on some kind of chore.
Kazuki was stirring stew in a pot with a ladle, and Woojoo was hauling firewood with Iromi, while—
Jurim was lying on the porch, pretending not to be asleep as he clapped every time Guru picked a pepper.
Guru glanced sideways at Jurim, who clapped with his eyes closed.
At some point, Jurim had become a lazy slacker who was weirdly fixated on Guru.
‘What happened to him?’
Guru tilted her head, deep in thought.
‘If I don’t do something, this is gonna get aired just like this.’
Then the whole world would see Jurim as “the laziest Rank 1 Hunter in history.”
She peeked at the camera and saw it zooming in on Jurim’s face—so she turned her gaze toward the potatoes.
What she needed now was—
Potato Soldier Mecha Transform!
She loaded a potato into a remote-controlled open-top car.
The plan: threaten Jurim with the potato he despised, and force him to get up and move!
The mini car carrying the potato zoomed at On Jurim and slammed into him.
Thud! Thud!
As Jurim opened his eyes in irritation to look at the car, the potato began to speak—somehow.
“Git ta work now or ah’m gonna show up in e-every singwe dish ya eat.”
The potato made a threat, but Jurim just rolled back over like it was nothing.
“Fwooooh!”
Fuming, the potato reversed and rammed into Jurim’s back even harder.
Thud! Thud!
With the constant pounding disturbing his nap, Jurim scowled and stared at the potato again.
“Git up and hewp Amakusa Kazuki right now! If not, ah’m gonna shed mah skin and march straight into yer mouf!”
Another terrifying threat from the potato.
Jurim finally, groggily, sat up—he couldn’t let things escalate to eating the damn potato.
Of course, he had zero intention of helping Kazuki.
He just figured he’d rather slack off by giving more attention to Guru instead.
Now what. Jurim stared down the potato for a while, then picked it up and chucked it over the fence.
Whip!
Then he locked eyes with Guru, who had been controlling the potato from not too far away
With her mouth hanging open in disbelief, Guru stared as Jurim clapped his hands once.
“Wow, Daddy defeated the Potato Monstuh.”
Guru clenched her tiny fists, panting heavily.
Huff! Huff!
‘It was aww a faiwure.’
Her Daddy’s lazy, no-good image was going to be broadcast to the entire country.
With her eyes shimmering with tears, Guru sniffled again beside Jurim’s leg.
A total slacker who doesn’t even care if others are working, picky about side dishes, and doesn’t know the first thing about manners.
But still, she liked her Daddy.
“Sniff! Even if Daddychann gets ignored, hic! Gwuu gonna pwotect him......”
With a completely puzzled look, Jurim asked,
“Who’s ignoring Daddy...?”
“Hyeonak newbiesss......”
“Why would the newbies ignore me?”
“C-cuz... cuz...! You’ww lazyyyy! Waaah!”
Guru sobbed out that she was worried the newbies might look down on her daddy, and Kazuki couldn’t help but burst into laughter beside them.
“Guru-chan, you were worried about that?”
Iromi turned around, stifling her own giggles, and Woojoo gently patted Guru’s shoulder.
“But... wazy Daddychann... dey gonna show him on TV... waaah...!”
Guru’s sniffling sobs eventually broke Jurim’s composure, and the scene of her crying was frozen in time—immortalized as a viral YouTube clip.
