The way crafting hunters made money was simple:
Use their skills to create items.Sell them.
Since Hanguru was a crafting hunter, making items was the easy part.
The real problem was selling them.
The Hunter Market, where hunters bought and sold items, could only be used by licensed hunters.
[Only hunters with a valid license can trade here.]
DUN DUN—!
Hanguru pouted as he read the answer on KnowledgeIn.
But just when he thought he was out of options, fate smiled upon him.
A headline on the portal’s main page caught his eye.
["The Hotbed of Illegal Trade—Onion Market. Can This Be Ignored?"]
["To Shut Down Onion Market, the Anonymous Store Law Needs Reform..."]
["Onion Market: The Tax Evasion Loophole for Hunters. Can Stores Avoid Responsibility?"]
The article explained that Onion Market was a completely anonymous marketplace and even detailed how to use it.
The comments were full of people criticizing the article for encouraging illegal activity, but to Hanguru, it was nothing less than a gift from heaven.
He immediately downloaded Onion Market onto his kids' phone and carefully studied how to use it.
The Problem?
Most trades on Onion Market were done in person.
Which meant—
"Hanguru can’t go in person!"
DUN DUN—!
Meeting big, scary hunters to make deals was too dangerous.
"I need to hide my identity."
That part was easy—he had a skill for that.
The hard part was deciding what kind of disguise to use.
Hanguru wanted to appear powerful and terrifying to the hunters.
"Scary. Shiver-inducing."
He racked his little brain, drawing a simple diagram in his head.
Scary and powerful = Saw.
At the orphanage, the older kids sometimes watched horror movies at night. Unfortunately, Hanguru had once walked in on Saw while heading to the bathroom.
He had trembled in fear for two whole nights, unable to sleep.
"Spooky..."
Shivering at the memory, Hanguru settled on his new identity.
To complete his disguise, he spent all his savings on:
An oversized "Half-Made" teddy bear (extra-large edition).A worn-out remote-controlled car.A pet cam.
[You have acquired "Remote Control for Inanimate Objects (D)".]
[You have acquired "Real-Time Recording (E)".]
Using "Extract-Extract", Hanguru extracted each function and fused them into the teddy bear.
[Item Created: Half-Made Auto Teddy Bear (D)]
The final step? The scariest and riskiest extraction yet.
For a full week, Hanguru forced himself to watch Saw every night.
[Skill "Extract-Extract" has failed.]
[Skill "Extract-Extract" has failed.]
He trembled in fear, failed countless times, and suffered many sleepless nights—
Until finally—
[Skill "Extract-Extract" activated.]
[You have acquired "Jigsaw’s Altered Voice (C)".]
"I DID IT!"
He had successfully extracted the modified voice from Saw.
"A whole C-rank skill!"
Now, all he had to do was merge the voice with the teddy bear.
[Half-Made Auto Teddy Bear with Altered Voice (C)]
(Automatically converts speech into a distorted, robotic voice.)
Hanguru grabbed the remote and made the teddy bear move.
It jerked awkwardly, but still managed to walk.
The pet cam broadcasted everything the bear saw to the old TV nearby.
Satisfied with the setup, Hanguru decided to test the voice.
"Ahem— Hanguru is making money."
"It is time... to make money."
The teddy bear’s voice automatically converted to Jigsaw’s eerie tone.
Hanguru loved it.
To him, this was how the strongest hunters should sound.
With everything ready, Hanguru researched the market and found out which items sold the best.
Then, he posted his first item on Onion Market.
The result?
A massive success.
After a few sales, he even figured out the best payment method—
Only accept payments in Onion Pay.
It was safer than cash.
At the time, Hanguru thought his success would last forever.
But it didn’t.
As Fake Saw became more famous, more and more hunters flooded him with requests to buy his items.
"There are too many messages..."
Hanguru was still low-leveled.
He couldn’t produce items in bulk, nor could he cater to everyone’s demands.
He needed a new plan.
After several trial-and-error attempts, he finally figured it out.
A few months later...
Hanguru was no longer just selling online.
He had become a true merchant, personally visiting dungeons to sell necessary supplies.
Logging into Onion Market, Hanguru checked his balance.
My Onion Pay Balance: 19,100,000 OP
Staring at the long row of zeros, a happy tune escaped his lips.
"This should be enough to find Mom and Dad, right?"
But then—
He realized the truth.
That the world wasn’t as easy as he had thought.
[Onion Market Customer Support Inquiry]
Q: Hello. My Onion Market ID is IAMGROOT123, and I have a question.
Recently, I tried to buy an Earth Candy at a supermarket using Onion Pay, but the store owner said I couldn't use it.
I tried at other stores too, and they all said the same thing.
But the website says Onion Pay can be used just like cash.
So why can’t I use it?
A: Hello, IAMGROOT123. Thank you for your inquiry regarding Onion Pay.
Onion Pay can be used in Onion Market, crypto exchanges, and similar platforms as a direct cash equivalent.
However, it cannot be used in general retail stores.
To use Onion Pay at regular stores, you must first exchange it for cash.
We offer a cash-out service through registered bank accounts, where your Onion Pay balance (minus a processing fee) will be transferred to your account.
To proceed, please register your bank account under [My Account (Link)], and we will process your withdrawal accordingly.
Thank you.
Hanguru read and reread the reply multiple times, his eyes darting back and forth across the screen.
"General retail stores? Exchange? Bank account?"
What did all that mean?!
To a 4-year-old kindergarten student with zero financial literacy, this was like reading a cryptic puzzle in an alien language.
Desperate for answers, Hanguru finally turned to his kindergarten teacher to decipher the message.
After a patient explanation, he wished he hadn’t asked.
"Hmm... Hanguru, a bank account is like an online wallet where you store and withdraw money. But you’re still too young to open one."
CRASH—!
It felt like a thunderstorm was raging inside his head.
Oblivious to his despair, the teacher handed him a play-money wallet from their pretend banking game, as if that would help.
Even after hours of studying finance, all Hanguru learned was...
His teacher was right.
Onion Pay was just a bunch of useless numbers unless he exchanged it for real cash.
And to exchange it, he needed a bank account.
And to open a bank account...?
Well, unless he clung to his teacher’s or the orphanage director’s leg and begged, there was no legal way for a kindergarten student to get one.
Because he was just a kid.
A 4-year-old with 20 million won trapped in Onion Market, completely out of reach.
“I... I’m a failure...”
Curled up in despair, Hanguru glanced at the TV.
For a kindergarten kid with nowhere to turn, television was the best source of real-world knowledge.
And right now, the screen was showing an interview with Hunter On Jurim.
The orphanage caretakers immediately turned their attention to the TV.
"Wow, On Jurim is doing an interview?"
"Yeah, it’s rare to see him like this."
"Isn’t he still ranked #1?"
"Of course. Some people are just born with good looks AND good power."
"Seriously. Look at that perfect face."
"No kidding. That guy is just stupidly handsome."
And sure enough, On Jurim was ridiculously good-looking, with a distinct beauty mark under his left eye.
If it weren’t for the “Hunter Special” caption on the screen, anyone would have mistaken him for a model or an actor as he lounged in a plush chair, his long legs crossed effortlessly.
