Song Jian mounted the Black Dragon, slowly rising into the air, while Li Ke’er followed closely on her hawk at a distance, perpetually directing Song Jian’s flight path. However, her hawk dared not get too close to the Black Dragon, so the two could only communicate via their private chat channel;
Mid-flight, Song Jian glanced down unintentionally and discovered that the area of the City of Hope had by then surpassed half the size of Doomsday City, separated by a tall and distinct city wall;
One side was brimming with vitality, looking every bit a human city, while the other was filled with dead silence, and zombies roamed everywhere, their howls resounding continuously;
Between the territories of Doomsday City and City of Hope stood a wall several dozen meters tall. Atop the broad ramparts, three or four Magic Crystal Railguns were being constructed simultaneously. Roughly every ten meters, there was a railgun, and between each pair, numerous arrow towers and giant crossbows flanked by hundreds of city guards stood vigilant on the walls, sealing the City of Hope tight;
The Divine Aversion Beads had already been mass-produced by the dozen, and the Magic Crystal Mine had begun to slowly transition into the extraction phase. However, given the mine was located in the wilderness, there was always the threat of monster attacks, so they dared not mine on a large scale. Only about a dozen miners and a mining team of over a hundred people were arranged to extract near the entrance of the Magic Crystal Mine, hesitant to delve deeper;
Therefore, the Magic Crystal Ores currently being mined were merely enough for the City of Hope’s own use and not yet for sale. After all, Magic Crystals were a strategic resource, not found on the market, and could even be used as currency, more stable than Doomsday Coins;

Li Ke’er continued to guide Song Jian through the friend channel. Her hawk didn’t dare to approach the Black Dragon, which made her quite frustrated, prompting her to stealthily kick the hawk twice;
After flying for over an hour, Song Jian finally saw a range of undulating mountains ahead. These mountains appeared very steep, with no place to climb. One would need a flying mount to get up there;
“Brother Song Jian, be careful. This is the Gathering Area of hawks. If we get close, they will attack us!” Li Ke’er warned cautiously through the channel, “Let’s land ahead and slowly make our way over.”
“You land first, I’ll check it out and see!” Song Jian said. The Black Dragon emitted a long howl, its speed abruptly increasing as it rushed toward the towering cliffs;
System: You have discovered Falcon Cliff, gaining 1000 Experience Points;
As Song Jian neared the cliff, still hundreds of meters away, a large mass of black dots erupted from atop the cliff. Narrowing his eyes, Song Jian realized that these black dots were all level 45 hawks, swarming in the hundreds;
A dragon roar echoed through the heavens, and the opposing hawks instantly became disorganized, but they quickly regained composure and continued to charge toward Song Jian;
Song Jian frowned slightly, as the Black Dragon’s Dragon Might seemed to have lost its deterrent effect on these hawks;
Seeing hundreds of level 45 creatures bearing down on him like a blanket, Song Jian turned the Black Dragon around and flew away into the distance;
Seeing the Black Dragon leave, the hawks did not pursue, but made a symbolic chase for some tens of meters before returning to their nests inside the steep cliff caves;
This was the hawks’ nest; their nests built upon the cliffs, each one resembling a honeycomb, and once they flew back to their nests, from the outside, nothing seemed out of the ordinary;
Gently bringing the Black Dragon down and storing it in the Pet Space, Song Jian shook his head and said, “There are too many monsters. As soon as we approached, they all came out. It’s quite troublesome!”
Li Ke’er giggled and said, “What’s this? If you go further in, you’ll see level 45 elite BOSS hawks, and even a level 50 lord BOSS!”
“What, a level 50 lord BOSS?” Song Jian’s face was full of surprise. It was known that reaching level 50 was already touching the edge of second-tier combat power. He wondered if this lord-class hawk boss already had second-tier combat power. If it truly were a second-tier strength being, Wang Qi’s desire to capture the hawk to form a cavalry of flying riders might very well be dashed.
“How on earth did you get that hawk?” Song Jian couldn’t help but ask.
Ever since he met Li Ke’er in the game, Song Jian noticed that Li Ke’er had incredible luck in the game. Whether it was equipment or pets, she hardly needed to put in any effort and didn’t have to grind daily to level up like other players. Although she couldn’t monopolize the top ten in the leveling rankings like those hardcore levelers, she was definitely five or six levels ahead of ordinary players.
“I was just wandering around here when I found a little hawk that had fallen off the cliff. So I just captured it, and it became my flying mount. It was easy, and I didn’t have to do much!” Li Ke’er said with wide eyes.
Song Jian shook his head; this luck was simply too good to be replicable.
“Approach slowly, maybe walking from the ground won’t alarm them!” Song Jian said.
If it hadn’t been for the Black Dragon’s roar earlier, they probably wouldn’t have drawn out so many hawks from so far away.
The two of them approached slowly, and after passing through a large expanse of dead woods, they finally got close to the cliff.
Song Jian realized that even the lowest hawk nest was nearly a hundred meters above the ground. Climbing up there wasn’t going to be easy, and now that they were so close, if they attracted too many creatures, Song Jian was confident he could escape, but he didn’t know if Li Ke’er could.
“That’s enough for today, Ke’er, let’s go back,” Song Jian said with a smile.
“Are we just going to go back like this?” Li Ke’er said with wide eyes and a puzzled look. “Shouldn’t we go up and check? There might be chicks in the nest.”
“You haven’t gone up to check?” Song Jian said curiously. Given Li Ke’er’s personality, having come here and found a chick, it seemed impossible for her not to go up and take another look.
“I wanted to, but when I climbed halfway up, the lord BOSS poked its head out and stared at me, so I didn’t dare to climb any further,” Li Ke’er said, frowning.
Song Jian thought about the situation at the time and couldn’t help but take a sharp breath, sizing up Li Ke’er.
If someone now said Li Ke’er wasn’t the beloved daughter of this game, Song Jian would absolutely not believe it. She had already caught the attention of a lord-class BOSS, yet the creature only chased Li Ke’er away, even allowing her to take away a chick. How was that possible?
After thinking for a while, Song Jian decided that he couldn’t let Li Ke’er take the risk, as she was too young and it made him somewhat uneasy.
After much persuasion, he convinced Li Ke’er to go back. With a thought, Song Jian extended a pair of steel wings behind him and flew toward the closest cave on the cliff;
