Chapter 667: Chapter 667: Crafting the Sword Spirit
Song Jian had a long-standing contact with the Abyssal Power, and held a certain resistance towards the Abyssal language. The charmer’s power seemed to be greatly suppressed; the allure of the Abyssal language had almost no effect on him.
However, for Chang Qinghe, caught off guard, he had absolutely no power to resist.
Furthermore, his heart was filled with desire to obtain Duan Wudi’s legacy and become a Sword Saint, which naturally created a vulnerability in his spirit which the Abyssal Power exploited. The allure of the Abyssal language easily affected him.
Watching Chang Qinghe stumble towards the black pyramid like a walking corpse, Song Jian felt amused. The person he initially saw as a formidable enemy had easily fallen in this way.
Song Jian sat cross-legged on the rock, ignoring the Abyssal language. He began to closely comprehend the various changes that came with advancing in his profession.
He found that his original profession as Sword Controller had progressed to the Sword Master, gradually changing from short-distance to semi-long and even long-distance.
The reason why this was so is because the Sword Master’s core skill, Sword Control Skill, had no concepts of attack range. As long as your Mental Strength was strong enough, anywhere within the range of your Mental Strength was within your attacking range.
Song Jian’s present Mental Strength perception could reach up to almost 100 meters, beyond which it became somewhat fuzzy. But if he were to use the Sword Control Skill, the most suitable attack distance would only be between 50 to 60 meters – any further would be more difficult to control.
Moreover, after the significant increase in Mental Strength, Song Jian could easily control two or even three or four swords simultaneously. At his limit, Song Jian could control four long swords at the same time, and if he activated Immortal Sword Body, he could easily control five long swords. This meant his enemy would have to face five simultaneous attacks from him; if the enemy’s strength was equivalent to Song Jian’s, they would likely be at a disadvantage from the start.
“Am I invincible at this level?” Song Jian laughed to himself.
Song Jian began to closely examine the Sword Master’s other core skill while adapting to his rapid increase in power – the creation of Sword Spirits.
“It’s actually a supportive skill...” Song Jian’s brows creased. Supportive skills generally did not provide direct combat power, but in the game, the effect of a good support skill was not inferior to combat skills.
Similar to Song Jian’s talent skill, “Thick Skin”, which was also a supportive skill, has saved Song Jian from the brink of death multiple times.
“Swallow the Essence of the Five Elements, nurture your own Sword Spirit...” After carefully reading the skill introduction, Song Jian’s face turned pale.
The so-called Sword Spirit production involved using a weapon as the main body, then continually devouring other high-quality weapons. The main weapon would then nurture its own spirit so that the weapon and the user’s consciousness could become one.
If a weapon produced a Sword Spirit, it would be essentially a division of the user’s consciousness. Controlling it would be as easy as moving a limb, according to the user’s will. If one were to use the Sword Control Skill to control a weapon with a Sword Spirit, it wouldn’t consume Mental Strength, and the difficulty of control would also significantly decrease.
In conclusion, this skill complemented the Sword Control Skill. If a Sword Master did not possess a long sword with a Sword Spirit, they’d feel embarrassed to claim they were a Sword Master!
“Has this game finally begun to make people spend money?” Song Jian asked emotionlessly.
To create a Sword Spirit, you need to start with a simple blood acknowledging ceremony, but the following step of devouring the Essence of the Five Elements is like a black hole.
“Good weapons of higher tiers – and an indeterminate amount at that – the higher the main weapon’s tier, the more you’ll have to devour. This game is practically forcing players to spend money!” Song Jian shook his head, sighing. Moreover, Song Jian’s weapons were sets, and if fully collected, would make five. The consumption would be five times that of other Sword Masters.
“However, speaking of high-quality weapons, after killing Jian Qi, it seems I dropped his weapon!” Song Jian suddenly remembered that there should be a Dark Gold quality long sword in his inventory, which would be perfect for creating a Sword Spirit.
Removing this Dark Gold quality long sword from his inventory, Song Jian found that its attributes were excellent. If it were not for the fact that he already had the Crimson Fire Heart Ape Sword Set, he would probably use it as his own weapon.
“Even if sold, this level thirty Dark Gold quality long sword could raise hundreds of thousands of Doomsday Coins. Throwing away that kind of money feels like throwing it into water!” Song Jian couldn’t help but feel a pang of regret.
Cutting open his finger, he let the fresh blood drip onto the Crimson Fire Heart Ape Sword. He drew a complex guiding rune on the blade of the sword. Luckily, thanks to his previous study of array formations and magic array, Song Jian was familiar with runes; for someone without any familiarity, trying to draw guiding runes with their blood could possibly be filled with failure and end up making them lose too much blood.
“With blood as the guide, and shared spirit – Sword Spirit, awake!” Song Jian shouted lightly and the guiding rune on the Crimson Fire Heart Ape Sword glowed, the fresh blood slowly seeped into the sword and disappeared.
At this point, when Song Jian looked at the Crimson Fire Heart Ape Sword again, an option for “Devour” was now available, along with a slot to insert items.
Song Jian sighed lightly, placed the newly obtained Dark Gold quality long sword in the devouring slot and with a trembling hand clicked on it. The long sword, worth hundreds of thousands, was immediately deconstructed and disappeared. The progress bar for the creation of the Sword Spirit only moved about one-tenth of the way.
“Does that mean that to make the Crimson Fire Heart Ape Sword produce a Sword Spirit, I need to at least get ten similar quality and level weapons?” Song Jian exclaimed in surprise.
Level thirty Dark Gold quality weapons were priceless, with none available on the market. At this stage, no equipment of Gold quality would appear on the market. Even if one or two items were to appear, they would be snatched up in an instant.
There are even fewer Dark Gold quality weapons. It’s unheard of – don’t even think of getting it on the market!
“It seems that in the future, I’ll only be able to get it to devour weapons of Blue or Silver quality...” Song Jian thought to himself.
Just then, a roar came from afar. Song Jian looked up to see Chang Qinghe, now less than 100 meters away from the black pyramid. He was roaring loudly, and his aura was crazily growing. Sword Qi was pouring out uncontrollably in all directions, forming the illusory image of a great river dozens of meters long behind him.
“What’s happening to him?” Song Jian stood up and looked at the scene ahead with a serious face.
Chang Qinghe seemed to be stimulated by something and expressed all his power as well as his Sword Intent to the extreme. This made Song Jian fully understand Chang Qinghe’s power.
“This is close to the power of an elder from Qingyun Sword Sect. I didn’t expect him to hide his strength this deeply...” A pensive expression appeared on Song Jian’s face as he intently watched Chang Qinghe from a distance.
