“The test from the combat mentor is too challenging, failed?” Song Jian was taken aback and asked hurriedly, “Is that combat classes mentor still around, where is he now?”
World channel: (Jiang Hong) Brother, do you know the Tianfeng Building? That combat mentor is on the rooftop, dressed in black and carrying a long sword on his back. He seems like a swordsman or something, but all his attributes are hidden, you can’t even see his level or name!
Song Jian chatted in the channel for a while and found out that it seemed only Jiang Hong had encountered a professional task, others had just finished creating safe houses. He didn’t exclude the possibility that some of them refused to share their experience with the combat mentor in the chat channel.
Closing the chat channel, Song Jian decided to head first to the villa next to building number 3 in the Meidi district to look for that martial arts master. That should be easier. As for the Tianfeng Building, Song Jian found its location on the map. That area was teeming with level 15 creatures, and there might be a chance of running into a level 15 elite boss. Even for him, he would have to be careful.
Song Jian placed his Black Dragon hatchling, who was sleeping soundly, in the villa and set off alone towards the Meidi district.
The Meidi district wasn’t far from Camel Square. Along his journey, Song Jian even found a few players who had also successfully set up safe houses. However, their safe houses were only level one and had no particular features. It was just a simple wooden wall and house. They didn’t look very strong against wind and rain. He wondered how they managed to withstand the monster’s attacks.
As Song Jian arrived at the Meidi district, he saw seven or eight players surrounding a villa far ahead the moment he entered the district’s gate.
“There were only five or six people in the chat channel just now, didn’t expect so many people to be lurking!” Song Jian thought to himself, and quickly made his way towards the villa.
“Guys, stop crowding here, Master Han isn’t awake yet. Even if you guys huddle around here, it’s pointless. Master Han doesn’t take disciples lightly.” A teenager who looked about 13 or 14, dressed in dark blue clothes and sporting short hair, stood outside the villa with a helpless look, talking to the players around them.
“Lad, we just wanted to know more about the career characteristics of the martial arts master Han Hai. We don’t necessarily want to become his disciples. Can you give us some leeway, or tell us about the career characteristics of the martial arts master Han Hai?” a player who was tall and thin like a bamboo pole shouted out loudly.
“Yeah, Young man, how about you tell us about the career characteristics of the martial arts master Han Hai?” the other players echoed.
They had only come to complete the main task, they didn’t necessarily want to become the disciples of the martial arts master Han Hai.
Song Jian looked up to see that the boy was shaking his head and saying anxiously, “I’m just an apprentice, who’s only been learning for two years. I’m not qualified to be the combat mentor for you people.”
It seemed that the boy was not that naive. Despite his young age, he was not easily fooled. He knew what these players wanted. However, he was just an apprentice and had no qualifications to become a combat mentor. He would not help the surrounding players complete the quest by telling them about the professional characteristics of the martial arts master. The system just wouldn’t recognize it.
Song Jian thought for a moment and began sizing up the villa in front of him.
The villa was about four or five hundred square meters and consisted of three courtyards. It was walled with red bricks on the outside, and there were several single-story houses inside. It had a front yard and a backyard. The building style wasn’t that of a western-style stand-alone villa. Instead, it had the feel of a rural courtyard, with red bricks and tiled roofs. The courtyard was filled with bamboo plants and a few fruit trees. By the sound of it, there seemed to be a stream flowing.
Song Jian went round to the backyard and faintly heard the sound of someone practicing martial arts, the sound was produced by the swift movement of the disembodied air by fist swings and sleeve movements.
Song Jian made a slight jump, caught hold of the wall, and slowly peeked his head in to look inside the courtyard.
The backyard had been converted into a practice field where a man in his forties was practicing martial arts. He was wearing a moon-white long gown, the lower part of which was tucked around the waist.
[LV35 Ancient Martial Arts Master – Han Hai] (Elite) Vitality Points: 2800/2800, Attributes: High resistance, High defense, Swift, Air-tearing; Skills: Ancient martial arts (Advanced), Rhinoceros Fist, Burst Fist, Hurricane Fist.
Watching Han Hai practice martial arts with such discipline, his movements fluid and his demeanor tranquil, filled Song Jian with a sense of excitement and utter thrill, he even felt as if he was a part of it.
Suddenly, Master Han Hai stepped forward abruptly, shattering the green brick underneath his foot. Pieces of broken stones scattered, he then waved his hand and several pieces of broken stone flew towards Song Jian, who was laying on the top of the wall with half of his head sticking out.
Song Jian’s body plunged downwards, hiding behind the wall, leaving only one hand grasping the top of the wall to support his body.
The sound of the stones flying past his head, was terrifyingly sharp, causing Song Jian’s scalp to tingle.
Since he had been discovered, Song Jian didn’t bother to hide anymore. With a strong push of his hand the whole body leaped above the wall as if he were a large bird and landed within the courtyard.
Song Jian made a fist salute and said to Han Hai, “Master Han!”
“Young man, you’re nimble. But did you know, it’s taboo to spy on someone’s practice?” Han Hai said in a deep voice as he appraised Song Jian up and down, with his hands behind his back.
“I’m sorry, Master Han, I just wanted to understand ancient martial arts, so I came uninvited. I wonder if Master Han could explain it to me?” Song Jian said frankly.
“All of you...ah, forget it, since I can’t avoid it, let’s discuss it together. Follow me!” Han Hai sighed and headed out, shaking his head as he went.
Song Jian followed Master Han Hai towards the front yard, passing through a walkway. There was a fake mountain pond on the side, the creek was babbling, and there were even a few koi fishes waving their bodies and occasionally splashing water in the pond.
At the end of the walkway was a moon gate. Passing through the moon gate, both of them came to the front hall. Song Jian could already faintly hear the clamor of the players in front.
“The heart is not sincere or calm. How can martial arts be practiced well? Hmph, 1 won’t accept such people as my disciples!” Han Hai frowned as he looked at Song Jian and said.
Feeling somewhat helpless, Song Jian just followed closely behind Han Hai as they arrived at the front yard.
Pushing open the courtyard door, the figure of Martial Arts Master Han Hai appeared outside the small yard. Right now, his disciple was already sweating, and if it weren’t for him having a higher level than these players, he might have already been unable to stop the players from entering the villa.
When the disciple saw Han Hai coming out, he let out a sigh of relief, and his face eased up. He hurried forward to bow and said, “Master, they...”
Han Hai waved his hand and said, “I know all about it; you back down.”
His disciples backed off, and the surrounding players became quiet seeing the master outside, but their gazes all landed on Song Jian standing behind Master Han Hai.
