Chapter 659: Chapter 659: Book of Fusion
Many times in the game, Bosses guarding treasures didn’t drop items. The treasures they protected were actually their loot.
However, the fact that the Swordwood Puppet also dropped an item and that of high quality, gave Song Jian an unexpected thrill.
Song Jian was originally going to retrieve the Dark Gold Quality Skill Book, but he casually picked up the golden item dropped by the Boss as well.
“Skill Book: Ten Thousand Facets Sword Technique, Usage Effect: The user can learn the skill ‘Ten Thousand Facets Sword Technique’ after usage. Ten Thousand Facets Sword Technique (Gold quality): A sword technique created by perceiving natural forces such as wind, rain, thunder, and lightning. The technique contains twelve moves, each can harness the power of nature to deal extra damage to the target.”
“A sword technique that uses the power of nature?” Song Jian frowned slightly as he read the skill introduction.
This sword technique was somewhat vague and didn’t specify its attributes. After hesitating for a moment, Song Jian decided to learn it directly. The Skill Book turned into a golden light and disappeared. Instantly, a stream of information containing the Ten Thousand Facets Sword Technique flooded into his mind.
“Ouch~” Song Jian didn’t expect the content of the Ten Thousand Facets Sword Technique to be so vast. He momentarily felt as if his brain was being hit with a heavy hammer. He immediately felt dizzy, and blood trickled from his nostrils.
“Evening Snow, Lightning Thunder, Wind Sweeping Clouds, Torrential Rain, Nine Suns Shining the Sky, Stars Surrounding the Moon,...”
In his mind, a figure appeared, constantly brandishing a long sword, where every stroke and every move could trigger the transformation of natural phenomena.
Song Jian was stunned. He didn’t expect the Ten Thousand Facets Sword Technique to be so powerful that one sword strike could harness the natural forces within several hundred meters for his own use.
“This... this is unbelievable, is this a sword technique, or sorcery!” Song Jian exclaimed: “However, although this sword technique is powerful, mastering it is not something that can be achieved in a short time...”
Each move of the Ten Thousand Facets Sword Technique can harness a different natural force such as thunder, fog, frost, and even the power of the sun, moon, and stars.
After resting for a while, Song Jian stood up slowly. In his skill bar, the icon of “Ten Thousand Facets Sword Technique” had already appeared. However, of the twelve sword moves, now only the first one “Evening Snow” could be used. The other eleven were all in an unusable grey state.
Song Jian’s gaze fell on the second move and found it could only be unlocked when the “Ten Thousand Facets Sword Technique” reached level 2.
“It seems that each time the Ten Thousand Facets Sword Technique is upgraded by a level, a corresponding move can be unlocked...” Song Jian mused.
Song Jian removed his eyes from the moves of Ten Thousand Facets Sword Technique and walked towards the stone platform.
The dropped sword technique from the Boss was an unexpected delight, but Song Jian didn’t forget that there were more precious items awaiting his collection.
“It seems to be another skill book. I wonder what skill it will be this time. Probably another sword technique. Well, with so many different sword techniques, which one should I practice?” Song Jian immediately fell into a happy confusion.
Other players complained about having too few skills, while Song Jian was worried about which sword technique to focus on.
However, when Song Jian picked up the book on the stone platform, he was taken aback.
“It’s not a Skill Book but an item?” Song Jian was surprised.
Song Jian had one book type item before, the Book of the Abyss, which almost allowed Song Jian to impersonate another profession, similar to an Abyssal Mage;
However, all the skills in this book required a vast amount of battle experience to activate. So far, Song Jian had only activated the basic two skills: ‘Abyss Magic Flame Armor’ and ‘Abyss Temptation’;
The Book of the Abyss covered a complete skill tree, and if all the skills on it were activated, Song Jian could completely impersonate an Abyssal Mage.
“Book of Fusion? What is this!” When Song Jian examined the book sparkling with dark gold light in his hand and figured out its use, his face lit up with ecstatic joy.
“This, how is this possible, how can there be such an overpowered item?” Song Jian couldn’t help but exclaim.
“Book of Fusion (Dark Gold): Special item, Usage Effect: Can fuse two skills into one; Method of Usage: Set one skill as the primary skill and another as the secondary skill, for upgrading; Upgrade Effect 1: The secondary skill will disappear, and the primary skill will acquire the corresponding level increase; Upgrade Effect 2: Both primary and secondary skills will disappear, giving birth to a new skill which will cover all the characteristics of the two skills; Usage Requirement: None.”
Without the Book of Fusion, if one wants to fuse two skills, both skills must be upgraded to the max level. This requires a considerable amount of time and energy to raise the skill proficiency, and a vast number of skill points for skill progression.
However, with this special item, the Book of Fusion, all previous limitations are removed, and two skills can directly be fused into one.
Moreover, the biggest benefit of the Book of Fusion is that there is no possibility of failure. Either the proficiency of the primary skill increases, thus upgrading the level of the primary skill, or a stronger new skill will emerge after fusion.
After obtaining this item, Song Jian had an urge to fuse all his skills immediately;
However, Song Jian soon calmed down. Certainly, it was impossible for this book to be flawless. The most critical point was that after using the Book of Fusion, regardless of the outcome, two skills will always transform into one skill. If he used this item frequently, he could end up with fewer skills in the end, leading to a potential decrease in power.
After some thought, Song Jian finally decided to first fuse two skills of lesser importance to see the results;
After selecting from the skill bar for a while, Song Jian finally picked two skills, the Ten Thousand Facets Sword Technique and the Qingyun Sword Skill.
“The Ten Thousand Facets Sword Technique is a sword technique that borrows the power of nature, while the Qingyun Sword Skill is a sword technique realized by the state of natural flowing clouds. The core of both is very similar, it’s just that Ten Thousand Facets Sword Technique is more comprehensive...” pondered Song Jian.
He opened the Book of Fusion, set the “Ten Thousand Facets Sword Technique” as the primary skill and “Qingyun Sword Skill” as the secondary skill and started the fusion process.
Whoooosh~
The Book of Fusion slowly floated up, hanging in mid-air with the pages flipping automatically. The two original skills turned into two swirling energy balls, and under the pull of the Book of Fusion, slowly came together and gradually fused into one.
A flash of white light, and the Book of Fusion flew back into Song Jian’s hand. At this time, his skill bar had changed.
The Qingyun Sword Skill which had been cultivated to level nine had disappeared, replaced by the proficiency level of Ten Thousand Facets Sword Technique, which had significantly increased.
“The first situation occurred. The secondary skill disappeared, and the primary skill gained proficiency?” Song Jian frowned slightly, opened the fusion information and started to read.
System: You used the Book of Fusion, set “Ten Thousand Facets Sword Technique” as the primary skill and “Qingyun Sword Skill” as the secondary skill, and began fusion...
System: Fusion successful, “Qingyun Sword Skill” disappeared, “Ten Thousand Facets Sword Technique” gained three hundred and twenty points of proficiency. The second move of Ten Thousand Facets Sword Technique, Wind Sweeping Clouds, has its effect strengthened; Wind Sweeping Clouds skill power increases by 15%, attack range +3. Within the skill range, the lagging effect is triggered, changing from the original “movement speed decrease by 30%” to “movement speed decrease by 45%”.
