The situation in the Conan World has come to an end here, and after that, Fang Zheng introduced the others to Mira’s group, letting them stay here for a while, take a break, and then decide on the next steps. As for himself...
He still had something very important to do.
"How did the Third Coordinate Point become such a mess?"
This was the first thing Fang Zheng said to Nymph after sending Little Ai and the others to rest and returning to the study.
It’s no wonder Fang Zheng was so puzzled because just a moment ago, he opened the mailbox to check a report, and the first report shocked him — Kurumi (a clone) at the Third Coordinate Point reported to Fang Zheng that the Academy City and Mobile City had united to attack Lugnica!
What the heck is Lugnica that caused two worlds to team up against it?
"I’m terribly sorry, Master..."
Hearing Fang Zheng’s question, Nymph quickly stood up and lowered her head, but Fang Zheng waved his hand.
"No, I’m not blaming you... I’m just genuinely curious about what’s going on here?"
"Yes, here’s a detailed report... please wait a moment."
Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s inquiry, Nymph hurriedly opened her personal terminal and quickly uploaded a report to Fang Zheng’s personal terminal. Fang Zheng swiftly scanned through it and finally understood the causes and effects of the situation.
It turns out, causing trouble isn’t just a patent of Fang Zheng.
This all started with Amelia and Felt regarding Lugnica.
Because Felt wanted to completely overthrow the nobility’s rule of Lugnica, both sides were in a constant state of conflict. Fang Zheng had seen this before, and at the time, to aid with strategy, he specifically went to the Northern Empire to bring back Esdeath.
Afterward, because of Esdeath’s departure, Lugnica lost the support of the Northern Empire, and the two sides entered a stalemate. Moreover, Lugnica even sent envoys in hopes of negotiating peace with Felt. This request led to disputes within Felt’s group — mainly between Felt and Amelia.
Felt claimed the negotiations were pointless and intended to hang all the nobles from lampposts once she conquered Lugnica. In contrast, Amelia thought it’s safer to show mercy when possible, and the books mentioned uniting the majority. Turning all nobles into adversaries might destabilize things.
After all, both of them were too young to realize it was merely a stalling tactic by the other side. Before they concluded their discussion, the Noble Army launched a surprise attack from the rear, turning a "revolutionary liberation zone" that Felt occupied into ruins. They even slaughtered all the civilians inside, burned down agricultural fields and buildings, and warned the peasants to surrender immediately, threatening to kill them otherwise!
This wasn’t solely for intimidation. According to Kurumi’s report, Amelia, after learning from some foolish online acquaintance, initiated reforms and technological advancements at the revolutionary base. With Meiyin’s assistance, products manufactured in their revolutionary zone weren’t only of high quality but also cheap, completely overshadowing the previously profit-gaining monopolistic noble trade guilds. As they say, cutting off one’s source of income is akin to killing their parents. If it was merely a political issue, it might have been tolerable, but involving economic issues... it’s a different story.
Honestly, this tactic was quite normal for that era. Nobles never viewed peasants as people, and village massacres were commonplace. Unfortunately for them... their target village happened to house many United Army members.
This included — Akame, Heitong, Main, Hill, and Chelsea from the Northern Empire.
The "THE WORLD" foursome of — Yumiya Rakko, Nunotaki Saiai, Inmate Aimi, and Musujime Awaki, idling around for side jobs.
Saten Ruiko, Lei, Misaka Mikoto, and Kuroko Shirai from Academy City, who came to assist.
And from the Wasteland World — Alisa, Hio, and Feli.
The reason for placing them here, of course, was for convenient management. After all, considering they are all residents from other worlds, it would be easier to find them if any issues arise.
By coincidence, at that time, everyone was either back in their worlds or out on missions, so no one was home. Upon returning, all they found were devastated villages and bodies used as warnings, murdered by brutal means.
Thus, the girls were instantly enraged.
For Amelia and Felt, having been instructed by Fang Zheng on Marxist philosophy, they were somewhat mentally prepared. Many examples of bourgeoisie’s brutal suppression exist in textbooks, so they focused on calming the revolutionary region’s residents and preparing for further actions.
But the problem is... they’ve learned it, the others haven’t!
Whether from Academy City or Mobile City, the girls’ sense of morality is very straightforward. If they had any doubts about this war before, there’s no need to ask now: Lugnica is definitely the villain! The kind that’s bad to the bone!
Kill them!!
The first to act was "THE World". After all, they were all former members of the Dark Side, each of them ruthless and silent. They sneaked into Lugnica’s capital, and then publicly, Yumiya Rakko sniped a sage from the Lugnica Sage Council. Following that, they engaged in a chaotic battle with Lugnica’s Royal Knight Order. The four caused quite a stir, but were nearly captured due to being outnumbered.
The reason they were almost caught was because... Akame and the others came, too!
As former members of Night Raid, these girls are almost on par with the Dark Side members in terms of being ruthless and silent. They crept into Lugnica Royal City on practically the same day, but hadn’t had the chance to act before "The World" beat them to it. Seeing "The World" in trouble, Akame, Heitong, and the others immediately stepped in to rescue them.
However, Lugnica Royal City is still the Royal City, with plenty of experts. Plus, the army had an overwhelming advantage in numbers. Joined together, they turned Lugnica Royal City into a bloody battlefield, but were still surrounded by the enemy. Just then, others arrived, nearly sparking a grand showdown.
Thankfully, in the end, Alisa and Saten Ruiko remained sensible. They pulled the others back, and eventually Megumin unleashed a Burst Magic attack at Lugnica Royal Palace, and everyone retreated.
Then began the war of words on both sides.
Lugnica’s nobility naturally condemned the Revolutionary Army for being savage and unfeeling, cold-blooded, and in defiance of conventional rules. But to the girls, this was complete nonsense! Especially for those from Academy City and the Wasteland World, what the heck is this noble bloodline theory? Why should being a noble allow you to kill at will and it’s justified? And our rebellion against you is wrong?
Oh, so only you nobles are allowed to kill civilians, but civilians can’t resist nobles?
Pfft, the wrong party isn’t us; it’s the world!!!
The young are energetic, passionate, and driven... Alisa didn’t hesitate to go back to the Wasteland World to gather her people, pulling a bunch of Divine Machine Users from Griffin. Meanwhile, Yumiya Rakko couldn’t hold back either and went back to Academy City to gather some disbanded Dark Side members. Even Misaka Mikoto returned to recruit Riko Mine, Reiji, and Frenda.
The reason Kurumi reported this to Fang Zheng was that Misaka Mikoto once asked if the Heavenly Dao Palace could directly resolve this issue. Misaka Mikoto knew that the Heavenly Dao Palace had several super warships in that world. In her view, if the Heavenly Dao Palace’s super warships intervened, everything would be resolved.
However, Kurumi told Misaka Mikoto that these warships were maintained for world stability and couldn’t be easily deployed. Actions required consulting Fang Zheng, which is why she forwarded the report to Nymph.
"That Sage Council is something else. They’ve managed to offend both the locals and outsiders in one go..."
After reading the report, Fang Zheng shook his head speechlessly.
"Reinhard isn’t here... Oh, right, he went to the Northern Empire to see his grandmother. I said Lugnica wouldn’t dare act recklessly under Reinhard’s nose."
Fang Zheng scanned the report again and initially found it odd that Reinhard was absent. Then he remembered it was his suggestion to have Esdeath invite Reinhard to the Northern Empire to visit his grandmother and strengthen their relationship. Now with such major issues occurring, Reinhard is probably rushing back.
I wonder if Esdeath wants to cut down the Sage Council’s idiots.
"Looks like this matter needs to be handled."
By the end, Fang Zheng’s expression turned serious because the Lugnica Sage Council somehow learned that many on Amelia’s side were visitors from Another World. They even called on neighboring countries to unite and repel these otherworldly invaders trying to enter this world from outside the Great Waterfall. Things have escalated to an irreversible point.
Originally, Fang Zheng let Amelia and Felt act freely to train them. But who would have thought things would develop this far!
Now Fang Zheng has no choice but to intervene. It’s already beyond a minor squabble. Fortunately, few acquaintances in Academy City wield military power, and the Wasteland World’s resources are still in shambles, unable to form an army to cause trouble. Yet, it’s surprising things have escalated this much.
"Sigh... I guess I’ll find some time to handle this."
With that in mind, Fang Zheng let out a long sigh.
So tiring... why can’t I have a few days of relaxation?
