Fang Zheng was quite serious about this aid task.
After all, from the task prompt, the setting this time is space, so his warship naturally has a place to be used. However, what was troubling Fang Zheng was that only three people are allowed to enter this world, so the personnel choice... requires careful consideration.
Since it’s a Sci-Fi World, Nymph the Little Angel must be brought along. After all, the black technology from Synapsus is the best in the world. In the many worlds, Fang Zheng hasn’t seen anything the Little Angel couldn’t handle. Next, the Warship of Sea Mist definitely needs to be brought; otherwise, do I have to rely on freestyle swimming in space?
So Fang Zheng thought it over and ultimately decided to bring Iona. Although the little guy is no longer a battleship now, it’s just fitting. After all, Fang Zheng can wait till he gets there to assess the situation and open the Dimensional Gate, and who knows where they might emerge from? If it’s too bulky, it would be inconvenient.
As for the last person... it’s quite troublesome.
Considering it’s the Sci-Fi World, just like in The Matrix of Hackers, all mysterious side abilities are strictly prohibited, so Kurumi Tohka and the like don’t have a chance... Speaking of Yoshino, the little guy spends everyday playing with Natsuse and the others after coming to Heavenly Dao Palace. They’re close in age and play happily together, and given Yoshino’s personality, she probably wouldn’t want to venture into the fighting world again. Fang Zheng doesn’t plan to let her take risks anymore.
And Kurumi... she’s now fully transformed into a nanny.
Honestly, if not for coming to Heavenly Dao Palace, Fang Zheng wouldn’t have discovered so much black history of Kurumi: Nurse Kurumi, Chuunibyou Kurumi, Gothic Kurumi, Otaku Kurumi, a whole bunch...
Oh, right, recently because of the appearance of those Saga zombie idols, she’s even created an Idol Kurumi clone to compete against them...
Considering these clones are reenactments of Kurumi’s past selves on the time axis, sometimes Fang Zheng really wants to grab Kurumi and ask, just what were you doing in the Elf World all those decades? You said you were seeking vengeance against the Primordial Elf, but you seem to be having so much fun...
By the way, the Kurumi main body now indulges in cat obsession daily. Fang Zheng’s little kitten has been completely adopted by Kurumi as her pet.
Originally considering space combat, Atalanta and Little Hei are good choices. However, something like Heroic Spirit doesn’t seem scientific at all, so naturally no hope of entering the Sci-Fi World. Similarly, Black Katie and Tilia are naturally excluded.
Counting like this... Fang Zheng helplessly found that the only ones he could bring were Nymph and those little girls?
The cooldown for the draw stone in this card pool is ten days...
Forget it, Nymph it is.
Fang Zheng thought it over, and ultimately decided not to bring those little girls to the space world. After all, they just returned from the Bio-World, though superficially unaffected, fighting zombies for so long was indeed bad for their spirit. So Fang Zheng decided to give them a big holiday and naturally wouldn’t take them along.
"Alright, ready!"
Standing in the command room of Iona’s warship, staring at the screen before him, Fang Zheng nodded with satisfaction and then reached out to open the system interface.
[Aid Task Countdown: 12:25]
[Open the aide task?]
"Open!"
As Fang Zheng’s words fell, a Teleportation Gate quickly appeared in front of Iona’s warship. The Annihilation Level slowly started up, entering the Teleportation Gate, while Fang Zheng’s system interface changed once again.
[Aid Task Opened]
[Confirmed entry number: 3]
[Countdown start: 10, 9, 8...]
"3?"
Looking at the system prompt, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but be taken aback.
Counting himself, Iona, and Nymph, that indeed makes three, but the problem is the Dimensional Mage himself isn’t counted in the participant limit, right? So, there’s someone else here? Who is on the ship?
However, before Fang Zheng could figure out what was happening, the Annihilation Level suddenly surged forward as if absorbed and entered the Teleportation Gate instantly.
Countless light points emerged outside the window, transforming into light beams swiftly traversing past the porthole sides. Within just a few seconds, Fang Zheng saw the scene outside the window suddenly change, the Annihilation Level passed through the Dimensional Passage, and in the next moment, it appeared in the infinite outer space.
"Is this our destination?"
Fang Zheng took a glance out the window, then shook his head. Just at this moment, Iona suddenly spoke.
"Received distress signal... over there!"
With Iona’s voice, Fang Zheng’s screen locked onto a region, quickly zooming in, and soon, Fang Zheng saw a warship quietly floating in space, seemingly having lost power.
Is that the ship requesting aid? Judging by its appearance, it seems human-made.
"Get close immediately, prepare for rescue..."
"Report, Master!"
But before Fang Zheng’s words were finished, suddenly, Nymph’s expression changed.
"Abnormal signal detected... there is an unknown flying object!"
"Beep--------!!"
At this moment, a warning sound blared, and Fang Zheng immediately saw three small red squares instantaneously appear on the screen in front of him. They were bypassing the human spacecraft and flying towards his direction. Unlike the previous warship that clearly looked like a human creation, these three warships seemed undeniably alien to Fang Zheng. They were all deep purple, looking like a bat, but what made Fang Zheng want to complain was the two large buck teeth at the bows of these ships, resembling rabbit teeth...
What on earth is this? A hybrid of a bat, stingray, and rabbit?
"Radar detection activated, we’ve been locked on!!"
Following Nymph’s announcement, Fang Zheng saw the opposing warships suddenly flash brilliantly for a moment, and in the next, volleys of shells were fired from those strange warships, hitting the body of the Annihilation Level warship, blossoming into dazzling brilliance!
However... in the face of the enemy attack, there was no movement on this side.
"Iona? What’s the damage status?"
"Only 1%, armor repair is initiated."
Iona silently shook her head.
"Their firepower is hard to breach our defenses."
"That’s good, prepare to take action!"
Upon hearing Iona’s response, Fang Zheng immediately gained confidence. Are you kidding me, I just got here and you started firing before I figured out what’s going on? Well, it seems you’re the enemy then!
"Attack!"
"Yes! Beginning target lock, Governor Drone, Berserker Drone, and Infiltrator Drone launched! Preparing for energy neutralization, enemy confusion, and light beam entanglement!"
With Iona’s command, thirty-six drones roared out from the Annihilation Level warship, and at the same time, along with the "DIUDIUDIU" sound of enemy searching, Iona also began to lock onto the three enemy warships on the screen.
At this moment, the drone swarm had already charged into the enemy fleet, quickly circling around the three warships. One after another, arresting light beams shot out from the drones, hitting the alien warships. Soon, the speed of these alien warships began to slow down, and even the radiance on them began to fluctuate.
And amidst the confusion, these warships were evidently unable to lock onto Iona again, launching several more rounds of bombs, all of which veered off target.
"...Nymph, can you control those warships? Like with the Ironblood?"
Observing the distant alien warships, Fang Zheng thought for a moment and then asked. Nymph closed her eyes, sensing for a moment, then shook her head.
"This race’s technology is much higher than the Ironbloods, and they use a completely different encrypted network. It would take a lot of time for me to hack it..."
"Higher than the Ironblood level, huh..."
Upon hearing Nymph’s response, Fang Zheng mused for a moment. Indeed, judging from the exterior, these ships look more "sci-fi," whereas the Ironblood warships... honestly, they have an indescribable blend of rustic charm in an urban-rural junction.
Forget it, however high they are, they can’t surpass my Sea Mist at home. The damage is only one percent, even turning on armor repair feels like a waste of electricity!
"Engage!"
"Yes! Thor heavy attack missiles ready, launch!"
With Iona’s command, forty-eight Thor heavy attack missiles were swiftly launched, rushing towards the warships in front. The enemy warships evidently detected Iona’s attack too, and soon, Fang Zheng saw them flash with a radiance, a semi-transparent blue barrier appeared, covering these warships.
However... in the next moment, Fang Zheng saw these warships suddenly flicker like a light bulb with an unstable power source, and then saw their shields abruptly vanish. Simultaneously, the three warships completely ceased their actions.
Seeing this scene, Fang Zheng also shook his head. Having obtained the Sea Mist Warship for so long, he had some understanding of the basic weaponry and equipment here. Iona had just unleashed heavy entanglement, energy neutralization, and enemy searching interference drones. Amongst them, the entanglement drones would slow down the enemy, preventing escape. The energy neutralization drones would neutralize and accelerate the exhaustion of the enemy’s energy, while the enemy searching interference would disrupt the enemy’s lock-on.
Originally... these three warships could hang on for a while, but they decided to use their shields... do they think shields don’t require energy?
It’s like a phone with only 1% battery left, and you insist on using it to surf the internet and play games, next moment, it’s only going to shut down on you.
Under Fang Zheng’s watchful eye, forty-eight missiles directly bombarded the three warships, accompanied by explosions and dazzling sparks. In the blink of an eye, the previously menacing three warships turned into fireworks in space...
"Phew... doesn’t seem all that powerful."
Watching the three gradually dissipating fireworks, Fang Zheng breathed a sigh of relief.
"Iona, dispatch salvage drones to see if we can pick up anything good from those wreckages. Let’s approach that spacecraft and rescue whoever’s supposed to be saved!"
After destroying the three warships, the Annihilation Level warship restarted, slowly approaching the spacecraft. Only then did Fang Zheng realize how disastrous the exterior of this warship was. Previously, he had observed from the back and hadn’t noticed, but now coming around to the side, Fang Zheng found that this warship was actually only left with half of its hull, appearing as though something had cleaved it in half.
"Tsk tsk tsk, still alive?"
Looking at the sorry state of the warship before him, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but click his tongue in amazement. Meanwhile, Iona nodded.
"Confirmed receipt of a distress signal."
While speaking, Iona waved her hand, and soon, a mechanical voice emanated from the speaker.
"SOS! SOS! SOS! This is UNSC FFG201 en route to Dawn-class requesting immediate evacuation, there are survivors on board, priority boarding code is V05-3-S0117..."
