In the game development industry, there’s a saying, "If the difficulty isn’t enough, make up for it with a time limit."
To put it simply, if a game developer feels that the final boss stage they’ve created is too easy and fails to meet the players’ expectations for difficulty, the simplest solution is to impose a "time limit" requirement. This way, players will be too busy racing against time to complain that "the final boss is so easy, the development team has really lost face."
Fang Zheng had always thought this was a good solution, but now... being human, after all, one should always leave some room for error!
This damned countdown!
Looking at the countdown timer that appeared on the system interface, Fang Zheng was completely speechless. Without this countdown, he could have carried out his next action leisurely—after all, Fang Zheng had collected several cores previously, and the cores from those four heavy cruisers and one battleship were quite special. His original plan was to wait until his own ship was built before taking action, but now it seemed... clearly, that wasn’t going to happen.
"Hacker Realm!"
As Iona rushed into the light cruiser fleet, Nymph also immediately spread her arms. Soon, a circular Hacker Realm swiftly unfolded, covering all the light cruisers on the sea surface like a large net. Then, with her eyes flashing with circles of light, Nymph watched as almost all the light cruisers began to slow down the moment they came into contact with the Hacker Realm, while a layer of black smoke emerged from the warships’ bodies.
Normally, Nymph would gain control by hacking into the cores of these warships and shutting off their fire control systems. However, this time, due to the time constraints, she didn’t use that tedious method, and instead, she attacked the cores directly and brutally, completely paralyzing them.
Of course, with this approach, one couldn’t expect to salvage the cores of these light cruisers anymore... They were overloaded into charred remnants, useless to collect...
But for Fang Zheng, at this moment, he wasn’t concerned about these cores; after all, the battleship was what mattered most!
"Target locked."
"Fire!"
It was almost at the same moment that Iona locked onto Musashi, the enemy also locked onto Iona, and a barrage of fire crisscrossed with a sky full of torpedo bombs, creating a dazzling fireworks barrier. And amazingly, Iona’s launch of torpedoes and missiles was completely blocked by the enemy!
"Continue to advance!"
Watching this scene, Fang Zheng frowned. He had not expected this super battleship to be so formidable, easily blocking Iona’s salvo. It appeared now, taking her down would be more difficult than he thought. However, even so, Fang Zheng wouldn’t give up.
"Iona, reload and begin! Be careful to dodge the enemy attacks!"
"The ship is locked, unable to evade."
"Overload!"
"Yes!"
Following Fang Zheng’s order, the shield outside Iona’s hull blazed with a deep blue, dazzling radiance. At that moment, the barrage of fire and missiles that erupted from the Musashi ship roared forward in a destructive flood, engulfing Iona completely. When the smoke cleared, the originally rich azure shield was reduced to faint glimmers, appearing insubstantial, like a thin sheet of paper.
"Shield remains at 3%, overload status can be maintained for another 30 seconds."
Hearing Iona’s report, Fang Zheng stood up.
"Iona, attack Musashi again, at least make a dent in her shield!"
"Yes, missile reloading complete, ready to launch."
Upon Fang Zheng’s command, Iona launched another volley of torpedo bombs that struck the Klein Field of the enemy. This time Iona’s attack finally had an effect, as the Klein Field on Musashi began to flicker. But at the same time, hundreds of missiles were again launched from the Musashi, bombarding Iona’s hull.
"Beep——Beep——"
This time, Iona’s shield couldn’t withstand another round of bombardment from Musashi, the previously overloaded shield, which had recovered less than half, was instantly depleted, even one-third of the armor was lost. Alarms sounded throughout the control room, red lights flashing intensely.
"Shield breached, repairing, fifteen seconds remaining."
However, Iona, who was sitting beside Fang Zheng, still appeared very calm, as if she wasn’t the one whose shield had just been blasted through.
But Musashi’s response was not slow either. Just then, Fang Zheng saw Musashi’s main cannon abruptly change direction, locking onto Iona once again with lethal precision.
This guy is really tough!
Seeing this, Fang Zheng’s face fell slightly. Musashi had timed it well. At this moment, Iona couldn’t possibly dodge, for she needed one more attack to break Musashi’s shield. Musashi’s previous attack had already stripped away one-third of Iona’s armor, and her shield had only recovered fifteen percent. If she were hit by Musashi’s cannon again, not only would the shield be gone for good, but the armor might not hold up, leading to structural failure.
But if Iona dodged, the enemy would need less than half a minute to restore the Klein Field. By then, all of Fang Zheng’s efforts would have been in vain!
Fang Zheng had already abandoned his previous plan; his goal now was to have Iona make an opening in Musashi’s shield, then he could teleport directly inside, just as he had done with Takao. Before, Fang Zheng had realized that Musashi’s Klein Field seemed to have some kind of "teleportation defense" power. If they didn’t break through the defense, it was impossible to directly affect her Mind Model...
But if Iona was brought to structural failure...
"Enemy cannon fire."
Just then, Iona’s voice rang in Fang Zheng’s ears. When he looked up, he saw that Musashi had already aimed at him! Before Fang Zheng could issue any commands, suddenly, another silhouette of a warship fiercely surged from behind and positioned itself in front of Iona!
"Leave it to me, Commander!"
"Vampire?"
Hearing Vampire’s voice, both Iona and Fang Zheng were taken aback. At the same time, Musashi’s main cannon fired, and the blazing red light beam shot past, striking Vampire with all its might. Accompanied by a scream, Fang Zheng saw the Dragon Cavalry spin backward like stone skipped across water.
"Vampire... Shield deplete to zero, armor remaining at 3%."
"Huh..."
Hearing Iona’s report, Fang Zheng finally breathed a sigh of relief. He certainly understood what had just happened. He had to admit, that clever little Vampire had rushed in front of Musashi’s cannon and activated the Energy Leech, using the energy drained from Musashi. Coupled with her now modified ship shield and armor, she barely managed to deflect the full salvo from Musashi, the Super Battleship. Otherwise, even a Sea Mist Destroyer would’ve been blown into fragments with one hit in this world.
But even so... she was nearly brought to structural failure... Are the cannon shots from the Sea Mist World warships this freakishly powerful?
Nevertheless, this was the best opportunity!
Musashi’s Klein Field had not recovered, it had even weakened due to Vampire’s recent energy drain. At this moment, Iona’s missiles were also reloaded and ready!
"BOOM, BOOM, BOOM!!"
The torpedoes and missiles roared as they struck Musashi’s Klein Field once again. This time, Musashi’s Klein Field finally reached its limit, bursting with a loud "bang." Subsequently, Fang Zheng swung his hand violently, and in the next moment, he appeared out of nowhere on Musashi’s deck.
"Huh?"
The girl in front of Fang Zheng, sporting silver-white long hair, a black hat, black tight-fitting clothes akin to a swimsuit, and suspended briefs, was surprised to see him suddenly appear. She closed her eyes, turning in astonishment toward Fang Zheng.
"Human? How did you..."
"Hehehe..."
Hearing Musashi’s question, Fang Zheng let out a cold laugh and then raised the Vampire Greatsword in his hand.
"Now I’ll see where you’ll run to!"
As he spoke, Fang Zheng flipped the greatsword and thrust it forcefully down toward the deck.
"Banishment!"
