Facing the sudden appearance of these monsters, the reactions of the Lizard Men were quite logical; they instinctively huddled together, raising their weapons and trembling as they watched Jumping Bugs and Hydralisks gnashing their teeth from all directions.
Only the leading Honid roared, "Take my spear!" before raising his iron spear and thrusting it at the Hydralisk controlled by Fang Zheng.
He was then promptly slapped to the ground by the tail of the Hydralisk.
"Take them to the Incubation Pool area."
Facing the Zerg, these Lizard Men had absolutely no power to resist; they trembled as they were "escorted" by Jumping Bugs towards the front. During this, Fang Zheng didn’t even bother to "disarm" them, as he was surprised to find their equipment extremely primitive after sizing up the Lizard Men.
Their clothes were merely rough animal skins that had been crudely cut and barely tailored, the seams were tattered, and their weapons were quite crudely crafted; Fang Zheng even felt that these items were just some crudely ground objects.....
In short, compared to other worlds and most of the civilizations in the Main World, these Lizard Men seemed only slightly better than cavemen..... But their level of civilization was still quite backward.
How had these creatures managed to survive so many years in Chaos Land without being killed off by Chaos Monsters?
Fang Zheng carefully recalled the Chaos Monsters he had seen before that dared to fight with the Swarm, thinking that pulling any of them over would be enough to annihilate these cowards.
About ten minutes later, the Swarm had brought these uninvited guests to a lookout station nearby, and before the Lizard Men could react, they saw a huge creature with purple-red flesh and golden eyes descending from the sky — after releasing the Hydralisk, Fang Zheng casually pulled an Eye Bug to be his second replacement.
Soon, his voice echoed directly in the Lizard Men’s minds through the Zerg’s telepathic waves.
"Invaders, who are you? Why are you invading our territory?"
"This is our homeland!!"
Before the other Lizard Men could answer, Honid was the first to jump up again.
"The land you’re occupying belongs to the sacred Empire of Origin! I command you to leave immediately in the name of the Prince of the Empire of Origin! Otherwise, you and your filthy invaders will suffer the wrath of the deities!"
Watching the idiotic Lizard Man before him, Fang Zheng suddenly didn’t know what to say. Meanwhile, one Lizard Man couldn’t help but tug at Honid, whispering.
"Hey, when did you become a prince?"
"Don’t interrupt!"
His companion’s undercutting seemed to really annoy Honid, who broke free from his companion, responding in a low voice.
"I’m scaring it, and I am a prince, the Chosen One by destiny! See, it’s shocked by me right now. Maybe it’s here under divine command to find me! Only that can explain why these monsters appeared suddenly; they must’ve heard my call and become my followers!"
Fang Zheng felt that nothing he said was likely to be effective right now.
"Listen up, creature!"
With his self-concocted story feeling flawless, Honid hurriedly raised his hand, pointing at the Eye Bug.
"I am Honid Shattered Rock, the First Prince of the Empire of Origin! You must have sensed the royal blood within me! Now, I demand that you apologize for this rude and vulgar behavior! Otherwise....."
I’m a damn Paladin, I can’t just kill, I’m a damn Paladin, I can’t just kill........
Fang Zheng closed his eyes, reciting to himself twice, then issued an order to the Hydralisk nearby.
"Beat him to within an inch of his life for me."
Hearing Fang Zheng’s command, the two Hydralisks approached the self-satisfied Lizard Man from either side. Seeing the two Hydralisks walking towards him, Honid smiled and stretched out his arms, striding towards the two Hydralisks.
"That’s right, you must still remember your mission, you are here to......"
"Whack!"
But before Honid could finish his sentence, a Hydralisk tail struck his face, sending him flying. Then, before the unfortunate Lizard Man could hit the ground, the other Hydralisk whipped him back. This was followed by a series of "pitter-patter" noises, as Honid was batted back and forth by the Hydralisks like a shuttlecock—not a tennis ball, because it wouldn’t bounce back from the ground.
"Foolish creature."
Fang Zheng coughed once, finally getting back into his pace as the Zerg Overlord. He then looked at the other trembling Lizard Men.
"Who are you really? Where do you come from? Why are you invading my territory?"
This time Fang Zheng clearly was out of patience, and as he asked, the surrounding Jumping Bugs also opened their mouths, making "click-clack" noises. While these Lizard Men weren’t as insane as the previous guy, they were scared almost to the point of collapsing on the ground, but soon, one of them timidly answered Fang Zheng’s question.
"We, we are people from the Fragment Tribe, and we hail from the Land of Origin... We did not intend to invade your territory; we merely... we were merely seeking resources from the outside world..."
The Land of Origin?
Upon hearing these words, Fang Zheng’s heart skipped a beat. This wasn’t the first time it had happened. As a Prophet Mage, whenever Fang Zheng unintentionally discovered a "key word" that triggered an event, it almost always provided him with feedback. Especially after acquiring the power of the Third Magic’s Heavenly Cup, Fang Zheng felt his prophetic talents and Future Sight had seemingly reached their limits...
For instance, he could at any moment enjoy the scene of his beautiful girls frolicking in the bath an hour later.
Fang Zheng did not feel any guilt about this; he was merely seeing an illusion of an hour later, not actually spying. How could using his abilities to recall a scene from the bath be a crime?
Moreover, aren’t there many such scenes in current animations?
Now Fang Zheng just did not know whether the "Land of Origin" triggered a main mission, a side mission, or a free mission for him... However, if his spiritual connection with the other party was not faulty, then the words "Land of Origin" were enough to pique his interest.
Moreover, considering that the coordinates given by the Goddess of Order were deep within this continent—of course, it might take Fang Zheng some time to reach these coordinates, but that did not stop him from picking up a mission to pass the time.
"The Land of Origin? What is that?"
Perhaps frightened by the unfortunate encounter with Honid, or possibly more threatened by the Jumping Bugs around them. The Lizard Men did not take much time to confess their origins to Fang Zheng.
As Fang Zheng had surmised, the Lizard Men lived deep within the land in an area of ancient ruins. According to them, those ruins once formed their nation, but their actions had angered the deities, who then transformed them into Lizard Men and sank their entire nation into the ground. Since then, they had lost their former glory, left to barely survive in the dark underground.
However, what intrigued Fang Zheng the most was the discovery, during his interaction with these Lizard Men, that they had been cut off from the world for an unimaginably long time. Obviously, being enveloped in Chaos in such a region made communication with others unlikely, but Fang Zheng still managed to gather some intelligence from them.
They knew nothing of Dwarves, nothing of Elves, and were even unaware of most races currently on this land. They only knew they might once have been "humans," and the only legends that remained were of deities and angels.
Could there really be a bunch of unlucky beings from the birth of order who had survived until now?
Fang Zheng immediately developed an interest in this group of Lizard Men, who seemed not much different from a Primitive Tribe. To them, what they shared may have just been "background history," but for Fang Zheng, who was investigating the backstory of this planet, it was incredibly important.
"I know your origins now."
Fang Zheng pondered for a moment and decided that resolving the conflict peacefully was the better option.
"However, you invaded my territory, and I cannot let this pass. I will send a swarm of insects to follow you back to the Land of Origin to confirm that you are not lying!"
"This..."
This time, the expressions on the faces of the Lizard Men showed unease. Clearly, they understood that leading the Horde as guides, which could bring disaster to their race.
But not every Lizard Man thought the same way.
"I will take you!"
Accompanied by a robust voice, Fang Zheng was surprised to see the previously badly beaten Lizard Man, who seemed barely able to fend for himself due to the beating by the Hydralisks, struggle to his feet. Despite grimacing as if in unbearable pain, he still stood.
"Honid, what are you thinking of doing?"
Upon hearing this reply, his fellows immediately screamed.
"Are you bringing these terrible creatures into our home?"
"Shut up, you idiots!"
Honid suddenly waved his hand, cutting off their interrogation.
"If we refuse, we only face death, but if we take them back, at least the Elder will no longer think we are merely lying! Moreover, they are my followers! They will definitely obey my commands! Trust me, they mean no harm!"
Hearing this, the other Lizard Men, as well as Fang Zheng, fell silent, and finally, one of the Lizard Men could not help but speak out.
"They have beaten you to this state, and yet you still believe they mean no harm?"
"Of course."
Honid proudly stretched out his hand and patted his chest.
"They are testing me, to see if I am worthy to command them! Otherwise, why would they hit only me and not you?"
Can I really not kill this guy?
