For the subjects of the Kingdom of Flame, pioneering unknown lands was not an unfamiliar task.
Humanity coveted the land, reached it, occupied it, and then developed it. All of these were taken for granted; to them, the monsters that roamed the land were just wild beasts that obstructed their expansion, and all they needed to do was to banish, annihilate, and eradicate them.
After all, in their eyes, humanity was invincible! And those beasts, even if they were Demon Beasts, even if they possessed great power, were just beasts!!
Indeed, it seemed to be the case. Confronted by the army of the Kingdom of Flame, those ugly creatures appeared to be scared out of their wits, desperately turning tail to flee. Only a few dared to charge forward and fight with the soldiers. However, after directly engaging with these monsters, the soldiers from the Kingdom of Flame discovered that these creatures indeed had quite tough exoskeletons and were exceedingly fierce, not afraid of death, but with the Mage’s assistance, they quickly exterminated this small group of monsters and then marched forward with high spirits.
"Prepare camp! Send out Scouts to locate the lairs of these creatures, we must completely eradicate them!"
Having won a victory, the soldiers from the Kingdom of Flame seemed to grow even more confident. Soon, the Commander in charge gave orders, and the coalition chose a comparatively safe high ground to begin setting up camp. With the help of the Spellcasters, setting up a simple camp was not difficult. After casting the Stone to Mud Spell several times, a simple camp surrounded by three-meter-high walls was swiftly formed, and the soldiers began patrolling and guarding, clearly prepared to expand their presence from this base.
"Hmm... It seems this small-scale conflict did indeed have its uses,"
While observing the army of the Kingdom of Flame, Fang Zheng silently nodded in agreement. He had not immediately ordered the Zerg to wipe out these soldiers of the Kingdom of Flame for a simple reason: this was the first time that Fang Zheng, since arriving in the Main World, had fought against the people of the Main World with the Zerg. He needed to compare the gap in combat power between the Zerg and the Main World, and the skirmish with the soldiers from the Kingdom of Flame provided just the right opportunity to gather the data he needed.
And indeed, Fang Zheng’s decision had been correct.
Most of these soldiers from the Kingdom of Flame were of regular military level; they basically couldn’t even break through the exoskeletons of the Jumping Bugs under Fang Zheng’s command. Only a few Elite Professionals capable of releasing Sword Qi could manage to break the Jumping Bug’s defenses and inflict damage.
Furthermore, the Mage’s Ice Storm, Fireball Technique, and other Three Rings Spells could cause a certain impact on the Swarm. In contrast, the spells they cast like Fear Technique and Charm had virtually no effect on the Swarm.
Considering that Fang Zheng’s Zerg had increased both their defense and their offense threefold, it could roughly be determined that only Professionals and Spellcasters of Elite Rank or above could actually harm the Swarm, and ordinary Soldiers clearly didn’t possess this capability. Due to the Swarm Network, mental spells found it difficult to control the Swarm, and Illusions were also ineffective on them.
From this point of view, the Zerg should have no major problem dealing with the Army of the Kingdom of Flame. Of course, if they encountered particularly strong Legendary Profession Holders, they might still suffer heavy losses. But the Guardian God of the Kingdom of Flame had already been burned to ashes by Black Katie...
However, since they had come, they shouldn’t expect to leave!
Watching the soldiers of the Kingdom of Flame on the screen, Fang Zheng’s mouth curved slightly upward, revealing a cold smirk.
As a Paladin, and moreover, a Paladin personally anointed by the Sanctuary, Fang Zheng certainly wouldn’t do anything that violated the principles. Everything he did was strictly by the book—the Zerg had dispelled the Chaos and reorganized the Land of Order. According to the rules, they had the right to become the masters of this land.
Also, during the first encounter with the soldiers of the Kingdom of Flame, the Zerg strictly followed Fang Zheng’s orders to warn the other side and drive them away, without causing harm or slaughter.
Under these circumstances, the Kingdom of Flame still chose to invade the Zerg territory and commit cruel acts of slaughter against the innocent Zerg Creatures. Faced with this situation, wasn’t it only natural for my Zerg to rise up in retaliation?
Self-defense is not illegal, after all!
What? You say killing people is illegal? Sorry, the Paladins protect Order, not humanity; humanity must come after Order. Besides, this world is full of races like Dwarves and Elves, and we must treat every species equally, devoid of racial prejudice. Alright, I admit the Zerg look a bit terrifying, but most of the Swarm are kind! You can’t be racially biased against them just because they’re not easy on the eyes!
The tenets of a Paladin are justice, kindness, and compassion... Ah, ah, ah, you there with the racial prejudice, stand still, I’m going to buff you!
Although it appears that Fang Zheng could easily deal with these nuisances with a wave of his F2A command, he doesn’t plan to do so. After all, Fang Zheng’s target was the entire Kingdom of Flame, not just a few minor Lords within Kingdom of the Flame’s territory. You dare to give Heavenly Dao Palace trouble, and you think you’ll get away with it that easily?
Of course, as a Paladin, Fang Zheng wouldn’t launch a preemptive strike against the Kingdom of Flame, but... If you took the bait yourself, you can’t blame me, can you? I’m not tricking you into breaking the law, I’m simply a Paladin serving the Goddess of Order, unable to bear seeing this land shrouded by Chaos. That’s why I sent the Zerg to guard the Order and protect this planet and all creatures living on it... No need to thank me, just doing my duty, serving the people; it’s all part of the job.
With that in mind, Fang Zheng had also made a decision to give the Army of the Kingdom of Flame a "warning"... If they remained stubborn, what awaited them would be the overwhelming onslaught of the Swarm Army.
As for the messenger to deliver this "warning"...
Fang Zheng pondered briefly and quickly came to a decision.
The opponent has come from afar, and since that’s the case, let’s give them some unforgettable memories!
The soldiers of the Kingdom of Flame were unaware that their fate had already been decided by someone. As night fell, the unexplored land was also shrouded in darkness. And on the stone walls, temporarily shaped by magic, several soldiers were on patrol.
"What the hell were those creatures that attacked us during the day?"
While holding a torch patrolling on top of the city wall, a guard casually asked. Hearing his comrade’s question, the other guard shook his head.
"How should I know? Probably some kind of demon beast, but they’re truly horrific, like devils from hell..."
As he spoke, the guard couldn’t help but shudder a bit, still remembering the horrifying appearance of that "demon beast." Its terrifying color and strange shape made him fear that he wouldn’t be able to sleep well for days...
"I wonder if those demon beasts come out at night..."
"Stop it, I don’t want to encounter that thing!!"
Hearing his colleague’s words, the guard gave him an annoyed glance.
"Alright, let’s hurry up and change shifts. This time the commander is a stickler for detail, you don’t want to get a telling-off for being late to the shift change, right!"
"You have a point."
The other guard nodded in agreement and the two of them headed towards the watch post at the end of the city wall.
"Hey, brothers, we’re here to take over... Where is everyone?"
Looking at the deserted watch post, both guards were startled. There should have been two people here before, so why was it empty now? Had they run off somewhere to skive off because of the windy night?
"Damn it, I knew I couldn’t rely on those idiots from the Iron Shield family!"
Seeing that the soldiers who were supposed to be on watch were not present, one of the guards spat in disgust. Although the three families were acting together this time, there was no love lost between them. Especially the Iron Shield family and the Sword family, they had the kind of relationship where they would knock heads together, and it was the Iron Shield family’s soldiers who were previously in charge of this watch post. Therefore, the two guards simply assumed those bastards might have ditched their post to goof off...
"Forget about them, when the inspector arrives, we’ll make sure to complain about those slackers. Humph, they get lazy as soon as they arrive in the untamed lands, I’d actually like to see those bastards freeze to death hanging outside!"
While talking, the guard raised his torch to take a look outside. However, all he could see was pitch black.
"Really, this cursed place is so irritating, and all those weird things...hey, what on earth is that on the ground?"
This time, his partner did not respond to him, so the guard redirected his gaze back to his side.
"I said... Huh?"
When he turned his head again, to his surprise, he discovered that the other guard who should have been beside him had disappeared!
Where is he?
The guard widened his eyes, looking around, and only then did he notice that not just their watch post, but also another nearby post, was completely unattended! At that moment, he suddenly felt a chilling sensation on his throat!
"Pfft!"
A sharp tail blade penetrated the guard’s throat, wrapped around his neck, and then violently yanked. The next moment, the guard, along with the scream he never had a chance to utter, vanished into the darkness.
The city wall was enveloped in deathly silence, not a sound to be heard.
After a moment had passed, several dark figures quietly scaled the city wall.
