The elders’ discussion today was somewhat unexpected.
The most surprising aspect was the attitude of Dean Sixin.
As well as the two elders from the Wen Family.
Dean Sixin is Tang Chenyang’s master, and Shen Han won against Tang Chenyang in the competition.
Tang Chenyang, as a direct disciple, losing the competition, not only lost his own face.
Additionally, it also jeopardized Dean Sixin’s reputation.
However, during today’s conversation among the elders, Dean Sixin had no intention of refuting anything.
In fact, someone suggested that Elder Sizhi, her younger brother, should apologize to Shen Han.
Dean Sixin agreed and was even willing to go along to apologize.
Besides her strange attitude, the elders from the Wen Family also behaved oddly.
The Wen Family’s favoring of Qianmu Fan and desire to win him over is well known.
Moreover, anyone can see how close Wen Ranran and Qianmu Fan are.
Originally, Shen Han’s competition should have been against Qianmu Fan.
Shen Han and Qianmu Fan are from the same place, harboring old grievances.
Qianmu Fan sees Shen Han as an enemy, with grudges becoming constraints in his heart.
With such hatred, it is absolutely impossible for them to coexist peacefully.
Logically, given the poor relationship between Shen Han and Qianmu Fan, whom they wish to win over,
the two Wen Family elders should side with Qianmu Fan and speak ill of Shen Han.
They should try to undermine and belittle Shen Han, preventing him from receiving attention.
That would align with others’ expectations of the Wen Family.
Yet, the two Wen Family elders praised Shen Han in their words.
They even suggested that Qianmu Fan should take the initiative to resolve the enmity.
They wanted the two to reconcile and restore harmony.
Rarely did any elders’ gathering present such unified opinions.
However, as the discussion came to a close, the opinions finally began to differ.
Several elders spoke up, expressing their desire to mentor Shen Han.
This idea of mentorship was spoken in a somewhat subtle manner.
After all, to become an elder, who among them isn’t astute?
They are not people with only strength but no brains.
From Shen Han’s match with Tang Chenyang, each elder had discerned something.
Tang Chenyang, as a direct disciple, had rapidly advanced in realm.
At his age, reaching the 7th layer of the Grotto Heaven realm was indeed impressive.
But there seemed to be a sense of external might masking inner frailty.
Even his master, Dean Sixin, evaluated him similarly.
Nonetheless, Tang Chenyang, as a direct disciple, still had some foundation.
Shen Han’s victory over him indeed caused Tang Chenyang to lose face.
But it also proved Shen Han’s strength.
Moreover, these elders
initially couldn’t discern Shen Han’s strength and realm.
They initially regarded Shen Han merely as a servant disciple with meager strength and realm.
Now, they speculate that Shen Han must have mastered some cultivation technique for hiding strength.
Such techniques are notoriously difficult to learn, and even if mastered, it’s hard not to reveal any hint.
But Shen Han seemed to conceal it excellently.
Curiosity about how Shen Han concealed his cultivation strength is one of the reasons these elders want to "mentor" him.
The peculiar situation of the sect in Five Immortals City led the elders, upon seeing Shen Han, to think more about wooing.
The major concern of Song Xiaodie did not materialize.
In fact, the Wen Family and Dean Sixin had already figured it out.
Even if they spoke unfavorably of Shen Han, it would not have any immediate impact on him.
The other forces in Five Immortals City would certainly speak in favor of Shen Han.
By that time, if they oppose him, they would stand out prominently.
They would fail in their objectives and also miss the opportunity to win over Shen Han.
Being astute individuals, they had already thought this through.
The elders’ assembly ended only at midnight.
Upon leaving, there was no decision made about Shen Han’s arrangements.
The idea of taking Shen Han under their wing and recognizing him as a direct disciple left most elders somewhat hesitant.
One competition seemed insufficient; further consideration was necessary.
The ultimate outcome might require the elders to personally speak with Shen Han.
...
With so many elders gathered for a conference in Five Immortals City, it’s challenging to keep any news hidden.
All it takes is a slip of the tongue, and such news spreads everywhere.
The matter of Shen Han’s conflict with Tang Chenyang continued to draw attention for days due to the spread of news.
The disciples in Five Immortals City began treating Shen Han with much more politeness.
Initially, they thought that match embarrassed Qianmu Fan and Tang Chenyang.
Disgracing those behind them too.
The expected attitude towards Shen Han was aversion and suppression.
Yet, unexpectedly, after a few days, the news was about solicitation.
No suppression, belittling, or retaliation.
There were even rumors that Elder Sizhi would seek out Shen Han to apologize to him, a mere servant disciple.
Though still mere whispers, if they’re circulating, the likelihood is high.
In the southern separate courtyard.
In recent days, Qianmu Fan has been feeling extremely troubled.
The Heart Demons that Shen Han had placed on him were actually well hidden.
That restriction makes Qianmu Fan act cautiously, careful in everything.
It might affect his cultivation journey, impacting his efficiency in improving.
However, the impact of this restriction is all hidden.
It hasn’t caused him any severe direct impact.
Before Wen Ranran mentioned it, Qianmu Fan hadn’t even thought about Shen Han.
But after this competition, wherever Qianmu Fan goes, people point and discuss.
In everyone’s words, they naturally talk about his connection with Shen Han.
In the competition, he was so scared by Shen Han that he didn’t even have the courage to fight...
In others’ mouths, the once genius disciple Qianmu Fan, is now spoken of with tones full of disdain.
After this incident, the influence Shen Han had on him has expanded step by step.
Now at night when he rests, Qianmu Fan is instead haunted by Shen Han’s figure.
He has thought many times, what if the one who faced the challenge wasn’t Tang Chenyang, but him, Qianmu Fan.
What would the result have been?
Thinking over and over, but the result of these thoughts is always not very good.
The attacks of Tang Chenyang, Shen Han avoided them with ease.
But Qianmu Fan feels that he would really find it hard to dodge them...
Originally trying to break a heart demon’s restriction, he instead added a more turbulent heart demon to himself.
A heart demon that he can’t escape, constantly ensnares him.
Moreover, there is worse news.
Everyone knows Qianmu Fan is close to the Wen Family.
But Qianmu Fan has recently heard news.
That the upper ranks of the Wen Family actually have some interest in Shen Han and are already preparing to approach him.
This is the biggest blow to Qianmu Fan.
His backer, instead, favors his enemy, even intending to pull him in.
Qianmu Fan inside feels all kinds of discomfort now.
The matter Wen Ranran orchestrated, in the end, the ones hurt were him, Qianmu Fan, and Tang Chenyang who got involved.
On the contrary, the Wen Family which pushed these things, had no impact.
Thinking about these, Qianmu Fan’s face shows a self-mocking smile.
In that smile, a trace of sharpness also appears in his gaze.
Others don’t know, but Qianmu Fan knows.
The strength of Shen Han comes from the Old Method, and it’s not a result of the new cultivation system.
Now looking at Shen Han being impressive, but give Qianmu Fan time, he is confident he will surpass Shen Han.
The elders favor Shen Han because they didn’t thoroughly investigate, they don’t know that Shen Han’s strength isn’t from the new cultivation system.
In Qianmu Fan’s view, if Shen Han wants to make another breakthrough, at least it will be another eighty or ninety years.
Or even in this lifetime, it might be difficult for him to take another step forward.
Whoever takes Shen Han as a direct disciple, upon knowing the truth, will surely regret it.
Qianmu Fan hasn’t publicized these right away, he still wants to see, see how the Wen Family plans to treat him.
Whether they’ll discard him like a worn shoe for Shen Han’s alliance.
In a nearby courtyard.
Tang Chenyang, upon hearing some news, immediately prepared to question his master and his martial uncle, Elder Sizhi.
Tang Chenyang is not a person with a magnanimous temperament.
Losing to Shen Han, losing face, he now wished Shen Han dead.
But his master still thinks about drawing in Shen Han, this to Tang Chenyang is even more humiliating than losing the competition.
Thinking of questioning his master, but for several consecutive days, Dean Sixin and Elder Sizhi haven’t come to find him at all.
Restless, Tang Chenyang found Qianmu Fan.
When Tang Chenyang walked into the courtyard, it so happened that Wen Ranran was also there.
The two speaking wore serious expressions.
Even upon seeing Tang Chenyang visiting, their faces remained solemn.
"Junior Brother, these are the elders’ decisions; it’s truly not something Senior Sister can control."
What Wen Ranran said to Qianmu Fan, Tang Chenyang only heard bits and pieces, but he already guessed some of it.
"Junior Brother, what do you know about Shen Han’s life, tell Senior Sister a bit...
Otherwise, Grandpa will definitely punish me..."
Hearing this, Qianmu Fan frowned and looked quite displeased.
The Wen Family wanting to draw in Shen Han was one thing, but to ask Qianmu Fan.
To let Qianmu Fan speak about Shen Han’s life.
"Junior Brother, please help Senior Sister..."
Qianmu Fan furrowed his brows even tighter, looking at Wen Ranran.
"About Shen Han, I’ve already said what needed to be said.
He is of low character, doesn’t respect elders, or his siblings.
His Shen Family members all wish this descendant would die early."
Upon hearing this, Wen Ranran shook her head.
"Junior Brother, don’t let personal emotions and grudges dictate, speak a bit more objectively...
For instance, how is Shen Han’s talent?
What is his main cultivation technique?
As for character, everyone has different opinions.
Ultimately, we only really know after contact."
Previously, regarding Shen Han’s evaluation, whatever Qianmu Fan said, Wen Ranran believed.
To the outside, Shen Han was of low character, without quality or virtue.
But now, it’s become "we only know after contact."
Hearing this, Qianmu Fan seemed almost amused by anger.
"Then perhaps Senior Sister should go and contact him, understand for yourself, why ask me."
