The entire Yun Mansion is still filled with red lanterns hanging all around.
These lanterns were put up when Tianyi Academy announced Shen Han’s advancement to the Fifth Grade of the First Snow Realm.
Since the year’s end is approaching, they might as well leave them hanging.
Sitting at the banquet, there really is a feeling of celebrating the New Year.
After having some food, the entire topic of the banquet fell on Shen Han.
When asked if he returned early for some reason,
Shen Han found a reason, saying he wanted to learn some Alchemy knowledge, especially understanding herbs.
He often adventures outside and cannot recognize treasures when he encounters them.
It’s a waste of good fortune.
Hearing Shen Han wants to learn Alchemy, Patriarch Yun couldn’t help but stand up, a serious look on his face:
"Han, are you serious? Are you not joking?"
"Grandfather, there’s no need to be so surprised...
I just want to learn about pills to broaden my knowledge."
But grandfather didn’t care; as long as Shen Han wanted to learn Alchemy, he was already happy enough.
Halfway through the banquet, Patriarch Yun asked if everyone was full.
Seeing Shen Han nod, he immediately got up and pulled Shen Han into the Pill Room.
In the eyes of Patriarch Yun, Shen Han is a heaven-sent prodigy in the Alchemy Dao.
Who else, apart from him, could understand a Pill Formula overnight?
Shen Han’s willingness to learn Alchemy means not only the Yun Family’s pills are going to advance again, but also the Alchemy Dao of Great Wei would take a significant leap forward.
From that night onward, Shen Han was caught up by Patriarch Yun.
Madam Yun tried several times to see Shen Han, only to be turned away by Patriarch Yun, not letting her disturb him.
He even said that during the cultivation time, not even visits were allowed.
Following Patriarch Yun, this time, Shen Han did not refuse.
He might as well seriously learn some Alchemy and the Medicine-Refining Technique.
This technique is indeed a very meticulous cultivation artistry.
It has great similarities with arrays in terms of precision.
But in practical application, the differences are vast.
In alchemy and medicine-refining, the precision is mainly in refining, extracting, and synthesizing.
It’s about the use of heat control, the duration of each step...
Though both require precision, the aspects to be paid attention to differ greatly.
With still some time before the year’s end, Shen Han followed Patriarch Yun, advancing step by step.
Previously, Patriarch Yun always suspected Shen Han had already known some Alchemy.
Otherwise, he shouldn’t have been able to understand those pill formulas overnight.
But while learning together, it was only discovered that Shen Han was truly a beginner.
Though a beginner, his learning speed was astonishingly fast.
Patriarch Yun instructed for two days, and when Shen Han went to rest, he picked up a book on Alchemy to study.
One or two days were generally enough for him to master those quite challenging techniques.
Though he learned them, the medicine-refining techniques needed quite a few two-hour periods to hone.
After the basic techniques, there was some simple practical operation.
Taking this opportunity, Shen Han began to probe subtly.
The properties of various herbs, whether they are warm or cold-natured, aggressive or gentle...
Flipping through the herbal compendium, Shen Han asked casually.
Having a very solid foundation, Patriarch Yun could promptly answer whatever Shen Han asked offhand.
Finally, Shen Han "inadvertently" turned to the Cloud Rong Grass.
"Grandfather, there is a herb named Cloud Rong Grass here. Judging by its name, its properties should be gentle, right?"
Patriarch Yun naturally didn’t take it seriously, assuming Shen Han just happened to turn to it.
Mentioning the name Cloud Rong Grass, Patriarch Yun couldn’t help but laugh.
"Not only is its property gentle, but its nature is incredibly soft.
This kind of herb is basically not found anywhere outside the Land of the Far South now~"
Shen Han feigned curiosity: "Is this herb very unique? What does it look like?"
"Hmm, to count, there isn’t a herb more fragile than it; it is indeed unique.
If the wind blows a little strong, or if some animal passes by, its stem would practically snap.
This herb can’t survive outside.
Only in the Land of the Far South, in those poisonous places barren of bird droppings, could it be found..."
Talking about these, Patriarch Yun felt a bit of regret.
"Grandfather, have you ever seen this Cloud Rong Grass?"
"Seen it, of course, I have. Let me sketch its rough shape, in case you encounter it outside.
Finding a stalk, though no match for Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures, it is still precious."
While speaking, Patriarch Yun drew the Cloud Rong Grass for Shen Han.
He also explained in detail some habits of the Cloud Rong Grass to Shen Han.
He didn’t know that Shen Han truly intended to collect it.
Otherwise, he probably wouldn’t have been so forthcoming.
The time for cultivation and study passed especially quickly.
Winter Month twelfth arrived in Anyang City; in a flash, it was already the year’s end.
During this time, Shen Han learned quite a bit of the Medicine-Refining Technique.
Patriarch Yun even let Shen Han see his manuscripts.
In just two days, Shen Han pointed out many errors to him.
Seeing his own mistakes highlighted, Patriarch Yun was stunned for a long time.
After confirming together with Shen Han in the Pill Room, they found out that they indeed were mistakes.
The mistakes pointed out brought a massive improvement in the Alchemy of the Yun Family.
Previously, several types of pills always ended up as Scattered Pills.
The cause was always elusive, but it was finally identified now.
The night of the New Year’s Eve, the Yun Mansion was bustling with excitement.
Patriarch Yun allowed the servants to invite their families over for a lively year-end celebration.
Last year, the Yun Family hadn’t closed its doors for several months.
Many people at that time said the Yun Family was going to collapse, deteriorate.
These loyal servants who stayed became witnesses of the Yun Family’s prosperity this year.
Deteriorate, collapse?
The Yun Family now is already a top Pill-Refining Family in Great Wei!
Even the court began to take the Yun Family seriously and commenced talks and exchanges with them.
At the New Year’s Eve dinner, Patriarch Yun was emotional and said a lot.
His old face was almost tearing up.
He spoke many words of gratitude and once again thanked Shen Han.
Many didn’t know what Shen Han was being thanked for exactly.
But those in the know understood and remembered the kindness.
At the banquet, Patriarch Yun distributed red envelopes one by one.
Even the servants received huge red envelopes.
The year’s rewards could rival several years of wages at other households.
Soon after the year’s end, Shen Han bid farewell to everyone the next day, preparing to head to the Land of the Far South.
Of course, the excuse was returning to the Capital City to cultivate.
After noon, Shen Han mounted a fine horse to set off.
Politely declining any guards accompanying him, Shen Han had just taken a few steps when a familiar figure appeared before him.
Behind him, Patriarch Yun and Madam Yun, who were seeing Shen Han off, also saw the newcomer.
"Peak Master Shi from Xiaoyao Peak, why is she here?"
With the year’s end just passing, very few people visit other families during this time.
Even for new year greetings, one would typically wait a few days.
"Father, let’s go back first..."
Madam Yun knew this was a time that should be left for the two of them.
"It’s said that Peak Master Shi is after all a strong Immortal Realm cultivator.
As the Patriarch, not going to receive her properly might be inappropriate..."
"My dear father, please return to the mansion first...
Consider it a plea from your daughter..."
Madam Yun did her best to assist Shen Han.
As she pushed Patriarch Yun away, she winked at Shen Han~
