Anyang City.
The news of not purchasing the Yun family’s pills anymore was undoubtedly spread by the Shen family themselves.
Now, even the street vendors were talking about it, saying that the Yun family was about to fall into decline.
Many family elders used the Yun family as a counterexample to lecture their younger generations.
In the Yun Mansion, when Patriarch Yun received the letter sent by the Shen family, a smirk appeared on his face.
"I wouldn’t have thought my good son-in-law would actually try to use these to threaten an old man like me.
It’s indeed my own fault for being blind, how did I marry my daughter off to that scoundrel back then."
As he spoke, all the members of the Yun family around him also had smiles on their faces.
They were all core members of the Yun family and were somewhat aware of the family’s secrets.
During the time the Yun Mansion was closed, they had already been preparing.
The Yun family would no longer refine the previously low-grade pills.
Recovery Pill, Blood Replenishing Pill.
These pills that were previously purchased by the garrison had already been discarded by the Yun family.
Even if the Shen family still wanted to purchase these low-grade pills, the Yun family had none to sell.
The direction of the Yun family had already changed.
The core members were the most trusted in the family.
The patriarch and the uncle of the Yun family would teach some techniques for refining high-grade pills, but would hide one key step.
This step would be personally handled by the Yun family’s uncle and patriarch.
This way, even if a clan member betrayed them, missing one key step would still make it difficult to complete the pill formation.
The other alchemists who used to refine Recovery Pills and Blood Replenishing Pills.
Were taught the methods for middle-grade pill refinement.
The steps were separated, and the alchemists couldn’t grasp the full technique.
The patriarch had already selected the middle-grade pills for refinement.
Only two, Qi-Enhancing Pill and Replenishing Pill.
These two middle-grade pills were actually substitutes for Recovery Pill and Blood Replenishing Pill.
Compared to Recovery Pill and Blood Replenishing Pill, these middle-grade pills had better effects, shorter activation time, and fewer drawbacks.
The only drawback was that they were much more expensive.
With many soldiers in the army, a large number of pills were consumed daily for training and practice.
If war broke out, the consumption of these two pills would greatly increase.
With limited military funds, the army would naturally choose the most cost-effective pills.
But after refining techniques improve, the production cost of these two middle-grade pills would greatly reduce.
The materials for Qi-Enhancing Pill and Replenishing Pill were similar to those for the low-grade Recovery Pill and Blood Replenishing Pill, with many overlapping ingredients.
But no medicine-refining family had a stable pill success rate for middle-grade pills.
The usage rate of materials was low, and the refining time was long.
These two pills needed to be sold at ten times the price of Recovery Pill and Blood Replenishing Pill to recover the cost.
As a result, the cost-effectiveness of these two middle-grade pills would greatly reduce.
Soldiers in the army needed to be at least at the officer level to be eligible to use these Qi-Enhancing and Replenishing Pills.
However, using the new refining techniques and exquisite pill formulas.
The Yun family would be able to greatly lower the price of these two middle-grade pills.
In the future, when the Yun family sells Qi-Enhancing and Replenishing Pills, their price would at most be four times that of the Recovery Pill.
The efficacy is a full grade higher than low-grade pills, yet the price is only four times more.
Whether the army under the Shen family’s control would purchase them, the Yun family did not care, as these pills would definitely have buyers.
Even if all the armies of Great Wei listened to the Shen family, the Yun family would not worry.
Middle and high-grade pills were already extremely marketable.
If the army doesn’t buy, aristocratic families would surely purchase them.
Moreover, how could it be possible for all armies to heed the Shen family’s words?
"Patriarch, how should we respond to the Shen family’s letter?
Should we write a letter back to retaliate against the Shen family, vent our frustrations?"
Upon hearing this, Patriarch Yun pondered for a moment and shook his head.
"No need to argue with the Shen family; in time, they’ll regret it.
I am more curious to see, with the Shen family being so arrogant now, how they’d act then.
Would they come to us thick-skinned, pleading for help from our Yun family~"
Since the patriarch had spoken, the rest of the Yun family naturally had no objections.
"Let’s take this opportunity to see which other families still remember our past favors.
Everyone speaks of human relationships being indifferent, the world being harsh, only happy to add flowers to the brocade, but who would offer charcoal in snowy weather.
Let’s see which families are willing to talk about relationships; those who are, our Yun family will definitely support in the future."
All the members of the Yun family present nodded in agreement.
In the past, there were many elite families associated with the Yun family; it was a good opportunity to see who was sincere.
If they’re all people with false pretenses, then in the future, it would be only about interests.
As they were about to adjourn, Patriarch Yun called out to Madam Yun, who had been listening.
He asked her to inform Shen Han about today’s events as well.
The Yun family owed their current situation much to Shen Han’s help.
Patriarch Yun also wanted to hear if Shen Han had any thoughts on today’s decision.
Madam Yun nodded, noting down her father’s words.
5:00 PM.
Madam Yun and Cailing, carrying a food box, headed towards Shen Han’s residence.
They lightly knocked on the courtyard door, and after a moment, Shen Han came running to open it.
"Third Madam, Cailing, why did you come all this way? It’s so cold outside, you could have called me over to your courtyard instead."
As he spoke, Shen Han invited the two of them into the courtyard.
He quickly brought a basket of charcoal to slightly raise the temperature inside the house.
While he was of the sixth grade in the Martial Path, Third Madam and Cailing hadn’t practiced martial arts and couldn’t endure this cold winter.
"It’s fine, staying cooped up indoors during winter is stifling.
I also wanted to go out for a walk, get some fresh air."
As she spoke, Third Madam laid out a stack of dishes on the table.
Just like she did at the Shen Mansion.
"I just overheard at the patriarch’s residence, tomorrow, the Yun family plans to reopen their mansion.
All those middle-grade and high-grade pills are ready."
Upon hearing this, a smile appeared on Shen Han’s face.
"Grandfather and uncle, they were quicker than expected; they probably haven’t had much sleep these days, preparing for the reopening?"
"Sleep? How could the two of them sleep?
Usually resting in a chair, they’d wake up from laughter.
Lying in bed, they’re probably so happy they can’t sleep."
Madam Yun couldn’t help but smile as she talked about her father and brother’s recent situation.
The two, combined, were almost one hundred thirty years old.
Yet recently, they were like two children, excited and unable to sleep.
"Third Madam, you’re exaggerating; it can’t be that bad..."
"How could it not be? If you don’t believe me, ask Cailing’Er, it’s true.
My father and brother, their lips haven’t been without a smile these days."
After speaking, Madam Yun restrained her expression slightly and looked at Shen Han seriously.
"Han, the Yun family’s current success is largely thanks to you."
Upon hearing this, Shen Han waved his hand dismissively: "Third Madam, why say such things; it’s just a small matter..."
"Father and brother have told me, those pill formulas and refining techniques are invaluable.
They aren’t things one can just give away casually.
The pill formulas and refining techniques you gave, Han, are worthy of being considered Yun family’s heirlooms."
