"What the heck is this?"
Looking at the system prompt in front of him, Fang Zheng was going crazy inside.
Why, why am I the God of Lust?! With all my righteousness, I clearly look like a flawless Paladin, and yet you give me the role of God of Lust, what’s the idea here? Are you trying to push me down the road to becoming an Evil God?
"I object, why do I have to take this divine position?!"
Fang Zheng was merely venting instinctively, but what surprised him was that the system interface suddenly changed in front of him the next moment, and then a long list popped up.
"What is this...?"
Fang Zheng patiently skimmed through the list and found that most of the people on it were those he had some intimate relationship with. From those fleeting nights with the Elves to his official girlfriend, Eiriri Asuna, and then there were the girls like Shiyu of Misty Hill, Kato Megumi, and Chiyo, whose relationships with him were ambiguous.
And next to each person’s name on the list was a status.
Most of them were "Admiration," and some were "Adoration."
"What’s the problem?"
Fang Zheng didn’t expect the system to actually learn to respond, but that was fine; he could vent now.
"With my handsome and charming self, beloved by all, blossoms at every glance, and with such elegance that one pear blossom leans on the begonia, isn’t it normal for so many people to like me?"
The system didn’t answer, but a display box appeared, flashing like a tutorial button in a game. This gave Fang Zheng a sense of foreboding, hesitating for a long time, he ultimately didn’t choose his official girlfriend but selected Kato Megumi instead.
In Fang Zheng’s view, Kato Megumi had always seemed lukewarm towards him, although her status was "Adoration," but...maybe it was a system calculation error?
Thinking of this, Fang Zheng opened Kato Megumi’s interface, where a chart appeared, showing two curves representing "Body" and "Spirit."
As Fang Zheng looked, he saw the curve for "Body" steadily climbing upwards, while the curve for "Spirit" seemed to have hardly changed.
That seemed normal...
Reflecting on what happened between him and Kato Megumi at that time, Fang Zheng wasn’t surprised. After all, Kato was still Aki Tomoya’s girlfriend back then; she embraced him more out of consideration for her boyfriend—well, even though Fang Zheng couldn’t comprehend how this reasoning developed in her mind.
If the chart in front of him were a stock, the "Body" stock steadily rose, while the "Spirit" stock showed barely any motion, with occasional declines.
Then came a rise in the Body stock, and meanwhile, the Spirit stock, which had been falling, suddenly jumped a few percentage points upwards before plunging, straight down past ten percent... It’s a circuit break!
This must have been upon learning that Aki Tomoya was sending her to me for another week.
Fang Zheng carefully observed the chart, almost figuring out why it triggered a circuit break. After all, once is enough, but continuing for another week...you don’t really think your girlfriend is the Virgin Mary reincarnated?
But afterward, an unexpected scene happened: the Body stock kept surging, and the Spirit stock, nearly halted, rebounded strongly. By the final two or three days, the Spirit stock’s chart tangled with the Body stock’s, becoming indistinguishable, and never dropped again, remaining steadily on...
".........."
Upon seeing this, Fang Zheng wiped his sweat silently. He pretty much comprehended what this chart meant...though...maybe it’s a one-off?
Considering Kato Megumi’s unique personality, maybe her thoughts are unique too?
Let’s check on Shiyu of Misty Hill.
Fang Zheng reopened another chart, and its trend was nearly indistinguishable from Kato Megumi’s—initially, a slow ascent in Body stock followed by a surge that led the Spirit stock to rebound strongly...
Perhaps modern young ladies living lives of indulgence have unique tastes? Let’s try someone else, right, Kuroko, Kuroko! Kuroko was always deeply devoted to Misaka Mikoto, her affection should not be too high.
With this thought in mind, Fang Zheng picked another target. This time, the chart initially made Fang Zheng sigh in relief; the Body stock was slowly rising while the Spirit stock seemed to gradually decline. However, just before Fang Zheng relaxed, he noticed the Spirit stock’s curve slip into a V-shaped upswing—well, at least they didn’t entwine entirely, remaining slightly lower.
That was close, it shows that Kuroko Shirai’s love for Misaka Mikoto is still steadfast...wait, that doesn’t really serve any purpose.
Oh, what about Heitong?!
Thinking of that, Fang Zheng clapped his hands. Heitong certainly wouldn’t be like that, considering they only met once, and Heitong was somewhat reluctant during that occasion...
With this in mind, Fang Zheng promptly opened Heitong’s chart.
And the result...just great, Heitong’s Body stock soared upward, while the Spirit stock directly hit the ceiling?
What the hell, are you a masochist?!
Feeling exasperated, Fang Zheng closed the chart, and right at that moment, the system popped up with a message.
[Achievement Unlocked: One Hand of the Divine]
[One Hand of the Divine: Eyes are the windows of the mind, the body is the door to the soul; releasing the body is akin to unlocking the shackles of the spirit. Only those who freely enter any room at will, effortlessly unlock every tightly closed door, can be worthy of supreme glory.]
"Damn it!"
Seeing this, Fang Zheng was completely speechless.
He finally understood why the system had assigned him the divine position of lust rather than love or desire...
True love should be initially mutual attraction, leading to a union.
If it’s desire, then it means one party is madly in love, willing to unconditionally devote everything.
But regardless of the type, their curve charts should raise the emotional aspect first, and then the physical.
Simply put, it’s like a dating game; without enough affection points, you can’t access the flashbacks.
But for Fang Zheng, it’s basically the other way around.
Initially, his emotional foundation with many people was not solid at all, mostly just friendly, not reaching the stage of "love." However, due to various reasons, after he engaged with them, those girls tasted unprecedented happiness and were attracted by it, proactively approaching and opening their hearts to him, resulting in this curve chart being completely reversed.
Others unlock positions by increasing affection; he increases affection by unlocking positions...
"Is it wrong to be good at skills!"
Fang Zheng couldn’t help but complain again, but this time the system didn’t respond and played dead.
MMP!
Fang Zheng silently cursed, then closed the system. Forget it, at least he knows the reason now. It’s not his fault; having good skills is for everyone’s benefit.
She’s good, I’m good, everyone being good is truly good.
Next time, let’s try changing to a different divine position.
Fang Zheng glanced at the divine position certification feature, which was already in the cooldown period, clearly unable to be reopened in a short time.
Forget it; let’s deal with the current matter first.
Although the exam is over, this world is still the first planet Fang Zheng discovered with remnants of civilization in the Yotsuba Galaxy... Well, at least it’s at the "remnant" rank.
Fang Zheng has investigated the whole story through "Ratziel," and in fact, the day before Black and White Bear’s final warning, Enoshima Junko had already manipulated a group of people brainwashed by despair through her network, making them launch a nuclear bomb at America’s capital.
Once the nuclear bomb is fired, the ensuing events are predictable, ushering in a global pace of mutual destruction. Now, the entire planet has transformed into a post-nuclear blast disaster site, with only Tahe City escaping the calamity.
And Tahe City’s survival wasn’t due to luck but because Enoshima Junko originally planned to build this city into a "Hope City" in the nuclear wasteland world, then use it as bait to lure the residents of the nuclear wasteland to survive here, only to shatter their hopes and drive them into complete despair, becoming part of Enoshima Junko’s followers.
Also, because Tahe City is managed by Tahe Group, Enoshima Junko with Tahe Saikyo as her accomplice could easily block all city communications, so even now, outsiders are unaware that the world beyond this city has become a nuclear wasteland apocalypse.
Gotta say, Enoshima Junko’s idea was indeed clever; if Fang Zheng didn’t have a BMW, just relying on two feet, by the time they reached Tahe City, perhaps everything here would have been turned to despair, and those Ultimate family members would have been made into sacrificial offerings to welcome them.
Thinking thoroughly, a group of students, in a nuclear apocalypse world, going through untold hardships, traversing thousands of miles, finally arriving at their destination, only to find the beloved family they wanted to save have become a pile of gruesome corpses... Hmm, that’s truly despairing.
But luckily, the ending is still somewhat good.
Due to Fang Zheng’s timely arrival, many Ultimate family members survived. Makoto Naegi was relatively fortunate; his parents and sister are still alive. And the mother of the Afro Head Diviner successfully reunited with her son.
The crossdresser Fujisaki also reunited with his father again—though I must say his father does have some crossdresser traits; seems like it’s hereditary in their family.
Only Togami Byakuya had it pretty bad, with his whole family blown up on the spot, leaving only a few Togami Family subordinates behind. Another one who had it rough was Kirigiri Kyoko, who had already lost her mother, and then her father was killed by Black and White Bear...
Another one who had it rough was Sonia Nevermind from the 77th batch; she was originally a princess from a small nation, but that nation was directly flattened by a nuclear bomb... From a certain angle, Sonia is the worst off. Others merely lost family or home, but Sonia lost her entire country...
Incidentally, this nuclear flattening is literal. According to Fang Zheng’s satellite scans, the entire Earth was thoroughly cleansed, with no civilization untouched... except here.
Enoshima Junko was too deliberate in her actions...
But well, talking about it now is pointless.
Thinking of this, Fang Zheng raised his head to look at the sky full of dark clouds. Although this area was not hit by nuclear bombs, the influence of nuclear flattening is everywhere. Since Enoshima Junko attempted to use this as a Hope City bait... then he doesn’t mind using this plan to genuinely turn this city into a new Hope City.
For Fang Zheng, this matter isn’t troublesome, though... it is somewhat irritating.
But no matter what, it has to be done... After all, the Yotsuba Galaxy is a critical junction and bridgehead of the Order’s high-speed passage, and he must build the first line of defense against the Chaos Waves here.
This world was initially full of vitality, but it was turned from "dynamic" to "lingering on" rank after Enoshima Junko’s chaotic actions.
"Eh..."
Thinking of this, Fang Zheng let out a helpless sigh.
The future is fraught with difficulties...
