Fate is truly unpredictable and strange.
Fang Zheng now has to believe this saying; he finally knows where this star system is.
Well, in traditional terms, at this moment it should be said "A long time ago, in a far, far away galaxy......"
Oh, right, this subtitle must float upwards in italics, that’s the key point, remember it.
"Is there something wrong, sir?"
Seeing Fang Zheng in a daze, Luke curiously asked, and only then did Fang Zheng snap back to reality, forcefully swallowing the "I’m your father" lingering on his lips.
"Oh, nothing, just thought the name was cool... hmm, let me introduce, these ladies are my companions, this is Eiriri......"
Fang Zheng also changed the topic, introducing his side to Luke, and what followed was naturally a bit of cultural exchange.
In fact, after learning Luke’s name, Fang Zheng already had a general understanding of the situation in this world. After all, it’s been a part of his childhood. Though, strictly speaking, he himself wasn’t considered a fanatic of this work, thus he’s not very familiar with the situation here.
If some fanatic fans were here instead, they might even strip the underwear of this world, but as for Fang Zheng... he can only gather some information from Luke now.
However, for now, Luke is just a young man living in a remote area, so naturally, he knows more about this place than Fang Zheng, but not much more. Nevertheless, Fang Zheng and the others still acquired quite a bit of information from Luke.
For example, about the currency issue here———well, there’s no FBI in this world for Fang Zheng to fleece, which left him somewhat dissatisfied.
As for alien races, this star domain is extremely diverse, with all sorts of species. Compared to the Milky Way in the Mass Effect world, where order is obviously established, this galaxy has more trouble, but fortunately, unlike the Mass Effect world, this galaxy is currently under the governance of the Galactic Empire, relatively stable.
Fang Zheng doesn’t care about the affairs between the Galactic Empire and the Rebels, honestly, the Galactic Empire isn’t good guys, but the Rebels aren’t any better. In fact, considering the current situation of the entire universe, Fang Zheng even leans more towards the Galactic Empire. No matter how ruthless the Galactic Empire is, at least its combat strength is unmatched, and it guarantees absolute human dominance in this star system. This is very important to Fang Zheng, just look at the Mass Effect world, where humanity paid so much, yet still suffered miserably under the Citadel Council...... If they knew the situation of the Galactic Empire, who knows how jealous they would be.
But the New Republic, which was established after the Rebels, was a scattered mess, even conducting mass disarmament to flaunt its "peace and justice", Fang Zheng remarked that if a Reaper invades, perhaps the Galactic Empire might still survive, but the New Republic would probably be pounded so hard they wouldn’t even recognize their own grandmother.
As to whether the Galactic Empire has aggressive attributes, Fang Zheng isn’t sure, after all, he only watched the movies, where the Galactic Empire was always quelling rebellion after rebellion after rebellion...... hmm, how does that saying go? Not quelling rebellion, just on the road to quelling rebellion......
So, should we cooperate with the Galactic Empire?
This question has been lingering in Fang Zheng’s mind since he saw Luke. Considering the threat of Chaos, Fang Zheng doesn’t need an idiot Alliance that raises the flag of peace and justice but can’t even manage its own backyard properly. By contrast, the Galactic Empire’s military strength is stronger, it’s more likely to survive the threat of Chaos. Fang Zheng believes that if he explains the situation of Chaos to them, the Galactic Empire should be able to respond correctly to some extent.
As for the New Republic...... well, sorry, Fang Zheng doesn’t have any expectations for their intelligence.
Granted, in the process of quelling rebellion, the Galactic Empire did eliminate quite a few innocent civilians, and used the Dead Star to destroy several planets. But conversely, if Fang Zheng could assist the Galactic Empire in quelling the rebellion in the shortest possible time, then these innocent planets and civilians wouldn’t have to die, would they?
As for the living conditions of the civilians under the rule of the Galactic Empire, the movie didn’t detail that, it just highlighted the warmongering and dictatorial rule of the Galactic Empire——— hmm, well said, but remember, Palpatine came to power through democratic election.
Just like Hitler.
Yet these thoughts just flashed through Fang Zheng’s mind, he needs more information to make a decision. After that, Fang Zheng fulfilled his promise by repairing the old hover car of Luke’s family.
In fact, Fang Zheng didn’t need to repair it at all, just a simple Time Retrospection to the latest state would do.
The brand new hover car astonished Luke and the others, and to express their gratitude, they gifted Fang Zheng and his companions with star map data of the star domain and some communication devices and systems——— hmm, this is quite helpful to Fang Zheng.
Fang Zheng didn’t stay long at the protagonist Luke’s place, because he could sense someone was monitoring them from afar, so he just chatted with them, sat for a while, and then turned around and left on the warship.
"Where are we going next?"
Back in the starry sky, Eiriri curiously asked, and Fang Zheng thought for a moment.
"I’m planning to go to the Galactic Empire, to talk with Darth Vader."
"Eh? The Galactic Empire?"
Illya was visibly uneasy about this.
"But according to Mr. Luke, this Empire isn’t good people... what if they want to capture us?"
"Whether they’re good people or not isn’t our concern, also his personal account doesn’t mean much."
At this point, Fang Zheng looked at the girls in front of him, raised a finger.
"Remember, what we need to do is observe, investigate, research, then make a decision. Don’t just take others’ words for it. To the Rebels, the Galactic Empire is naturally terrible villains. Meanwhile, to the Galactic Empire, the Rebels setting fires in their backyard every day are no better than cockroaches. However, don’t forget, our Heavenly Dao Palace as a political entity needs first to engage with the official highest authority from outside——— regardless of how they came to power, they are, at least, the certified legitimate governing body."
Speaking of this, Fang Zheng shrugged his shoulders.
"So, do you understand? Perhaps the Galactic Empire is quite brutal to its own citizens, but we are not citizens of this country, only people from that country have the right to decide their future. All we can do is watch. Of course, if they wish for our assistance, that’s a different matter."
"But, we don’t seem to have anything to negotiate with them, right?"
Hearing this, Eiriri furrowed her brows.
"Dad once said that negotiations between countries are primarily interest-driven... Yet, do we have any interests in common with the Galactic Empire?"
"That’s exactly it."
Fang Zheng snapped his fingers.
"We have no navigation or trade with the Galactic Empire, nor do we need political mutual support, and lack any foundation for an alliance——— this also applies to the Rebels. We must remember our position, we are not the Savior, nor are we some kind of blue-haired fat cat who would rush to rescue anybody crying ’dad save me.’ Once we intervene in this war, we’ll expend the lives of the Heavenly Dao Palace, yet without any reciprocal return, so this loss-making deal I won’t make."
"........."
Hearing Fang Zheng’s speech, Eiriri remained silent, while Illya and Little Hei exchanged glances, similarly speechless, having experienced the war in District 11 of the Mech World, hmm...... since then, the young ones have been very wary of such so-called "justice" and "rebellion."
However, Shihou Souki clearly has a different opinion.
"Mr. Fang Zheng, this statement is not suitable to be said in front of Misaka Mikoto, that muscle-girl definitely won’t listen."
"That’s why I didn’t bring her here, but she will have to face all this sooner or later."
Fang Zheng agreed with Shihou Souki’s words, if Misaka Mikoto were here, she’d probably immediately jump up and shout about overthrowing the Galactic Empire after listening to these things.
"So, what do we do now?"
"Hmm...... I have a bold idea......"
At this point, Fang Zheng paused for thought, then opened his personal terminal to contact Nymph.
"Nymph, decode the star map and find a planet called Alderaan, have a probe explore around Alderaan, it should be able to discover an artificial fortress. Infiltrate its communication system, contact the administrator inside, inform them of our origin, and apply for negotiations."
"Okay, Master."
Hearing Fang Zheng’s order, Nymph nodded, and quickly took action, while Fang Zheng crossed his arms. This is also regarded as a test of the Galactic Empire on his end, he didn’t see those two robots at Luke’s place, which indicates the story hasn’t started. If that’s the case... perhaps he actually has a chance to save that unlucky planet.
Moreover, it’s also a probe to showcase his side’s technological level to the Galactic Empire. After all, if Fang Zheng’s memory serves, the Galactic Empire’s secret weapon, the Dead Star, isn’t fully constructed yet. If he could contact this hidden artificial satellite directly from outside the galaxy, then if the Galactic Empire has a few competent researchers, they should be able to understand the level of skill disparity between both sides.
Of course, Fang Zheng isn’t sure if the Galactic Empire would use this thing as a show-off to give him a hard time, no matter.
They made their choice, and therefore must bear the consequences.
