Fang Zheng was not at all surprised that some people rebelled, even though he had displayed immense power.
This was completely normal; even the bald guy who was beaten onto a small island was still thinking about counterattacking the continent.
People have to have dreams.
And the rebellion by the Barthomeloi family was even more within Fang Zheng’s expectations.
After all, the World Tree of a Thousand Realms’ war against the Mage’s Association was essentially a lower class overthrowing the upper class, a revolt. And the Barthomeloi family worshipped absolute nobility.
What is absolute nobility?
It means that killing and fighting among nobles are allowed because they are ’people’ on the same level, but rebellion by lower class citizens against the upper class is absolutely not allowed because they are not considered people!
You, as a slave, dare to rebel against the slave master?
This is treason!
Just like how white people would absolutely not allow other races to rise and rule the world, nobles also absolutely do not allow slaves to overturn!
Because only nobles are the supreme, most noble, and most glorious existence!
Others can only obey the nobility, not rebel against it!
If the World Tree of a Thousand Realms Fang Zheng represented was also an ancient noble house, perhaps Barthomeloi could accept it. But unfortunately, the World Tree itself was an alliance of those declining magical families, even the Fiore family as the head family could not be considered an ancient glorious lineage.
So, in Barthomeloi’s view, this was unacceptable.
This was a blatant revolt of lower-class citizens against upper-class nobles!
And they, the nobility, with their glorious lineage, noble bloodline, long history, and powerful strength, how could they possibly allow themselves to be defeated by a bunch of commoners?
Kneel to them? Beg for forgiveness?
What a joke!
Better to die standing than to live kneeling!
That’s right, this is what the Barthomeloi family represents, the absolute nobles’ doctrine of the Clock Tower.
For them, the nobles’ glory surpasses everything.
Forget about the Origin, Warships, Heroic Spirits.
Even if you summon Akatsuki, Gaia, and Alaya, they would still resist to the end.
Even if it means death, they will never surrender or succumb!
Just a bunch of slaves like you want us to surrender?
Impossible!
You can kill us, but you can never make us nobles bow to you slaves!
Death is not negotiable!
This is class conflict, irreconcilable class conflict.
Fang Zheng knew this well; it was normal, as when fighting against tycoons, none of them didn’t resist to the end.
So what more is there to say?
Just kill!
Countless artillery descended from the sky, yet the Clock Tower was evidently not to be overlooked. Quickly, layers of shields sparkling with radiance appeared at the top of the Clock Tower, blocking the bombardment from the sky.
"It’s ancient mystery, indeed."
Medea glanced at it and immediately identified it.
"Not surprising, the Clock Tower has existed for so many years, there are bound to be some treasures kept in the box."
Fang Zheng was rather calm, the Clock Tower, after so many years, couldn’t possibly not have preserved a few relics? Even the Clock Tower itself, according to time, could be considered a kind of mysterious existence.
"Do you need us to take action? MASTER?"
Medea blinked in curiosity, looking at the metal warships in the sky, unable to contain her curiosity. This was also the second reason these Heroic Spirits were willing to come down to assist Fang Zheng. Although Heroic Spirits receive knowledge about this world when they are in the present realm, the warships Fang Zheng brought clearly were not included in this world’s knowledge domain, so many Heroic Spirits were extremely interested in these powerful metal giants.
Helen was wandering around the warships daily, trying to figure out the principles behind these warships. If she weren’t a girl, the Fleet Girl would have kicked her flying long ago.
What are you looking around inside someone else’s body!
"No need, you just need to watch."
Fang Zheng shook his head. He summoned these Servants mainly to provide support, rather than to let them fight. It’s not that these Servants don’t want to fight, but in Fang Zheng’s view, the destruction of an era must be carried out by the creators of the new era themselves. The Servants only need to be responsible for assisting from the sidelines, ensuring their life safety.
As for the real battle... leave it to the Magical Girls of this world.
Moreover... this wave of attack is just beginning.
"Boom!"
Finally, under continuous artillery fire, the shield of the Clock Tower couldn’t hold on and shattered. Following this, multicolored fires whistled through the barrier, directly hitting the giant tower. The next moment, the Clock Tower exploded violently, and after the dazzling radiance, accompanied by thick smoke, the tip of the tower broke and slowly fell from the sky, smashing onto the ground.
At this moment, the Clock Tower is in complete disarray, all buildings are in ruins, and the entire Clock Tower looks as if it had been flipped over, almost no intact structure remains.
"Air bombardment is over, now is ground clearance time."
Fang Zheng said this, looked up at the sky, and soon, a destroyer slowly descended, opened the cabin door, and then the girls walked out from it. They wore Liyuan’s school uniforms, with solemn and serious expressions.
"I think you know what to do next."
Fang Zheng extended his hand and slowly flicked the greatsword in his hand.
"During this period, you have gone through enough, I think, you are well aware of our goal, why we have to do this, and how we should do it."
No one spoke, but in the girls’ eyes, determination was evident. As Fang Zheng said, they already knew what they were going to do. And this comes not only from the teachings of the World Tree of a Thousand Realms and Fang Zheng but also from the "words and deeds" of the Mage’s Association.
It was previously mentioned that after the World Tree of a Thousand Realms formally declared war on the Mage’s Association, the Association repeatedly dispatched several teams to the Far East to try to eradicate the World Tree. During this process, they naturally clashed with the girls under the World Tree, and some even tried to kidnap these girls to threaten the World Tree or plan to use more extreme means to wipe Liyuan off the map.
And it was in this struggle that the girls gradually understood the ideals of the World Tree and the essence of the Mage’s Association. Most of them are not nobles, so of course, they cannot stand on the Mage’s Association’s side. In their view, the Mage’s Association wanting to harm so many people just for themselves is unforgivable.
Not to mention, their targets are not only themselves but also their families, friends, and even their homes...
It can be said that no matter how much the World Tree lays out the facts and reasons, it is not as thorough as letting these girls personally experience a few assassination and Seal Designations by the Mage’s Association.
"Hana."
Fang Zheng looked at Hana, who was leading the group, and nodded.
"You know what to do, defeat the rebels, especially the Lords of the Twelve Noble Houses—capture them alive. Of course, if someone is stubborn and tries to resist to the end, then... execute them."
"Yes!"
Kurotou Hana nodded to Fang Zheng. The next moment, the radiance on her body began to flicker, and then Hana’s clothes changed from Liyuan’s student uniform to a pitch-black outfit that looked quite stylish, resembling a trench coat.
"Sisters, let’s go!"
As she said, Hana made a gesture, and then directly leapt down from the city wall, followed closely by the transformed girls.
They are not just pure Spellcasters, after Fang Zheng’s trials and observations, some of them have been granted Magitech Devices by Fang Zheng, thus becoming "Magical Girls."
This is just the first batch, in fact, soon more and more people will emerge from the warship, line up, and then head towards the Clock Tower.
Although Liyuan is the main base of the World Tree of a Thousand Realms, this doesn’t mean the World Tree has only Liyuan as a base in the Far East. In fact, besides Liyuan, the World Tree has acquired several other schools and found quite a few children with magic potential within.
In addition, there are other Magical Families that joined the World Tree—as the World Tree was originally established as an alliance absorbing those declining Magical Families, naturally, there are considerable talents among them. Especially after the World Tree broke out with brand new magic that doesn’t require a Magic Crest, many originally hidden Magical Families on the Asia continent soon came to seek refuge.
Not to mention those Magicians who were Seal Designated.
Of course, for these people coming for refuge, Fang Zheng was not accepting everyone. After assessing the situations of these family forces, he rejected some and kept some. After all, as Fang Zheng said, this is a revolution, so they need partners with similar ideals, not opportunists looking to benefit from the war.
Even though Fang Zheng had a strict review, nearly half of the families joined the World Tree.
This is very normal.
The Mage’s Association has great power, but where there is repression, there is resistance. Especially in the Far East, the Magical Families here, except for local ones, the majority fled here to escape the Mage’s Association’s persecution and oppression. So it’s no wonder they responded swiftly when Fang Zheng rallied them with "The Mandate of Heaven is dead, let the Yellow Sky reign" and joined the cause.
The people appearing now are all "new era" Magicians like Weber, only with two or three generations of family heritage, without much magic accumulation, looked down upon and oppressed in the Magic World. And precisely because of this, their desire to overthrow the Mage’s Association is stronger than anyone else’s.
"To be honest, I never thought there would be a day where I lead people to destroy the Clock Tower, even in dreams, I never imagined."
Wearing armor and holding a longsword, Haine walked next to Red Ponytail, gazing at the ruins before them, sharing his sentiments—well, he finally heeded Fang Zheng’s advice, no longer using guns.
"This is just the beginning, but it will be a new beginning."
Fang Zheng extended a hand, patting Haine’s shoulder.
"Let’s set off."
"Yes!"
Under the leadership of Hana and Haine, the army of the World Tree of a Thousand Realms swiftly moved forward, rushing towards the distant Clock Tower. Meanwhile, the Heroic Spirits around Fang Zheng also vanished—they did not return home, but would patrol around these soldiers in their spiritualized form to assist them.
Looking at the ruined Clock Tower before him, Fang Zheng’s expression remained very calm.
From today on, there will be no more Clock Tower.
