Fang Zheng casually boasted for a second, the consequence of which led him to spend a week calming down the dissatisfaction of the little girls led by Nobiru.
These little girls aren’t disobedient, obstinate, or naive. After all, they know that although their growth has been delayed, the price is the elimination of the Intestinal Virus. Otherwise, they would be worried about turning into monsters. So they understand that this is something that cannot be helped, but...
You can’t just say it outright.
That hurts, bro!
Especially when Nobiru and the others discovered that Raphtalia and other subhumans were actually not much different in age from themselves, but in that world, subhumans have the characteristic of absorbing a large amount of experience when young to automatically grow up, they became so envious they couldn’t contain it.
If only we could have the characteristics of these subhumans! You know, these Cursed Children fight Intestinal Creatures in the Black World every day, their levels must be super high! If they had this ability, that would be wonderful!
But well... unfortunately, now these little girls can only dream about it.
Fang Zheng also considered analyzing the genes of subhumans to find this rapid growth gene and then modifing the little girls. Unfortunately, after consulting Mirune, he had to abandon this idea. According to Mirune’s statement, the rapid growth gene of subhumans enables them to grow automatically in a short time. However, the genes of Cursed Children have already undergone two rounds of modification; first, they were infected by the Intestinal Virus during the fetal stage, which modified them, then Fang Zheng conducted a second gene modification using the Zerg.
Simply put, the bodies of the Cursed Children now are like houses cobbled together with various materials, painstakingly built to meet safety standards. If one were to add subhuman growth genes, it would mean re-modifying them.
The problem is the current house was constructed by the Zerg; you can’t guarantee the foundation can withstand a rapidly growing house.
To illustrate, the bodies of Cursed Children are like small wooden huts on the beach that were riddled with holes by the Intestinal Virus, then the Zerg came and transformed the huts into steel-reinforced concrete villas, which are stable and allow enjoying the power of a level seventeen typhoon from the balcony.
But suddenly turning this small hut into a three-hundred-story skyscraper would likely sink it into the sand.
The resulting manifestation would likely be that Cursed Children might gain more Zerg features due to unbearable changes. Perhaps one might wake to find oneself transformed into a brand new Zerg unit...
Hence, Fang Zheng decisively abandoned this idea.
That’s too extreme, the little girls certainly wouldn’t accept it.
Of course, to soothe the little girls’ wounded souls, Fang Zheng had to take them to Amagi Brilliant Park to play for a day, and accompany them... finally dispelling the little girls’ anger.
Well, kids...
Incidentally, Amagi Brilliant Park finally completed its task of bringing in five hundred thousand visitors.
"It’s finally done..."
Looking at the fading sunset, the pitch-black night sky, and the shining roller coaster and Ferris wheel, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. Beside him, Latifa was quietly watching him.
"Yes, Lord Fang Zheng, thank you..."
"You’re welcome, I just did what I could."
Upon hearing Latifa’s words, Fang Zheng waved his hand. Latifa’s gratitude was not solely because the amusement park reached its reserved visitor count but also because of herself. Latifa had once been cursed by an evil Mage in her kingdom, forcing her to come to the amusement park to rely on the magic here to extend her life. But now, Fang Zheng had helpfully lifted Latifa’s curse, so the problem troubling her naturally ceased to be a problem.
For Fang Zheng, solving the task also meant Amagi Brilliant Park could permanently exist in the Heavenly Dao Palace, tidying up his nearby matters nicely.
"Next, I will leave for a while. The duration might not be short, and the amusement park will be entrusted to you, Isuzu, and Sora for supervision."
"May I ask, Lord Fang Zheng, where do you intend to go?"
"Outside... strictly speaking, the universe, and no one knows what will happen next, maybe it will be a war... In short, the situation will change, and there will be a period during which the Heavenly Dao Palace will be sparsely manned. How to ensure the little girls’ happy lives will depend on you."
Fang Zheng patted Latifa’s head, his expression growing serious. Space travel was not unfamiliar to Fang Zheng, as he had experienced interstellar journeys in the worlds of Aura, Mass Effect, and Lelouch. It requires a vast amount of time, and... by that time, Fang Zheng would find it difficult to return to the Heavenly Dao Palace.
If it were interstellar travel in other worlds, Fang Zheng could easily open a teleportation gate to return. However, in the Main World, that is obviously not possible. Though Fang Zheng has Star Spirit’s Teleportation Skill and some Interstellar Technology he exchanged for, allowing him to create Star Gates and Teleportation Crystals, yet... can such a precision-level leap be achieved in a universe outside, corroded by Chaos?
Knowing even a discrepancy of one digit results in a difference of ten thousand eight hundred miles.
"I’ll do my best, Lord Fang Zheng."
Latifa didn’t ask much more, she being both a princess and ruler, naturally knew that what’s Fang Zheng about to do cannot be easily paused, thus earnestly nodding. Although Latifa also wished to accompany him, she knew it impossible, her curse lifted, but her body remains weak, only able to recuperate in the amusement park.
Moreover, even if she could follow him... Latifa knows she cannot really assist Fang Zheng with anything, might even burden him.
Latifa of course wouldn’t make such a request, though she does indeed reluctantly let Fang Zheng leave.
Realistically speaking, Fang Zheng didn’t wish to depart so soon either, as currently, the Heavenly Dao Palace was still incomplete, and many matters still needed addressing, he too was unwilling to leave his warm cozy nest. But unfortunately, the looming threat of Chaos’s corruption is an imminent issue, if Fang Zheng truly intends to rest, it’ll only be after repairing all the outposts arranged by the Goddess of Order.
However, this is only a vanguard.
Just thinking about the chaos outbreak gives Fang Zheng a headache.
What kind of mess has the Order Clan created...?
Sigh...
Fang Zheng has already formulated the specific actions, and the candidates have been decided. Apart from those who often follow him into battle, fourteen members of the Undead Squad led by Raphtalia will join, along with the two chiefs of this world—his muscle-bound leader and Colette, the Chief Necromancer—and some mages under their command... Taking them to see the Star Sea World won’t be a bad thing.
Oh, and also that "bunch" of Goddesses of Order.
Although the reincarnated Fina, for safety and insurance, will surely sit at the main camp, Fang Zheng won’t allow those backups to idle.
After all, the things of the Order Goddesses are only known by the Goddesses themselves, and Fang Zheng won’t allow them to slack off.
Especially when he’s leading troops on the front lines, possibly fighting to the death, while those bastards are enthusiastically watching BL movies in the back... Just the thought of this possibility makes Fang Zheng’s temple veins throb.
He’s not going to let these guys slack off!
If we’re dying, we die together!
Although the Goddesses of Order initially showed extreme reluctance, fortunately, there are reliable ones among the reincarnations of past Order Goddesses. After some "friendly" exchanges through fists, the proposal was unanimously approved with total victory over opposition, deciding to follow Fang Zheng to the Star Sea.
Of course, since they are backup data entities, they don’t have any combat power to speak of, but Fang Zheng wasn’t valuing their fighting prowess.
"So, this is the star map left by the Goddesses of Order?"
Squinting at the vast expanse of star systems in front of him, Fang Zheng spoke. From the appearance, this star system is a spiral galaxy. It is about twice the size of the Milky Way and is referred to as the Radiant Galaxy in the materials left by the Goddesses of Order, and the Main World where Fang Zheng and others are located is a star within the Alfalfa Cluster of the Radiant Galaxy.
Location-wise, the position of the Alfalfa Cluster isn’t very good; neither convenient nor fast, with a considerable distance to other clusters.
From the star map, the Goddesses of Order have put a lot of effort into this world. With the Alfalfa Cluster as the center, they have established Order Guardian Barriers around the cores of four surrounding clusters, constructing three layers in succession. It can be said to be layer upon layer of protection, thoroughly sealing up the Alfalfa Cluster airtight.
But unfortunately, no matter how stringent protection is, it will eventually fail. At least according to Fang Zheng’s current monitoring and system data feedback, of the three defense layers, the outermost one has less than ten percent integrity left, while the middle one has about twenty percent, and the innermost defense line has only thirty-five percent left.
This doesn’t even account for the internal defense line within the Alfalfa Cluster.
"I really didn’t expect it."
While Fang Zheng was fiddling with the star map, the Chief Prophet Mage standing by his side sighed deeply, and upon hearing his comment, Colette, who was curiously observing the star map, raised an eyebrow.
"What’s the matter?"
"Although we’ve long known we are just part of destiny, merely a grain of sand in the vast desert, it’s only when witnessing it directly that one can truly grasp the insignificance of oneself."
Saying this, the Chief Prophet Mage sighed and extended his hand to point at the star map before them.
"Look at it, our world within it doesn’t even count as a single grain of sand... To be honest, I don’t even want this to be true, because this..."
For a moment, the Chief Prophet Mage was at a loss for words, never having realized his insignificance as clearly as now. As the Chief Prophet Mage and one of the most powerful mages in this world, he originally felt his power, even if not at the peak, was among the strongest in this world.
Yet... how large is this world truly?
Looking at the star map, the Chief Prophet Mage suddenly had a feeling; they are too small, everything they fought for before is utterly meaningless and valueless in this vast world. Even if mages can crack the ground, summon tsunamis, and destroy life, what impact do their deeds truly have on this world?
This world is so vast, and in it, they are not even as significant as ants!
"I should call more mages to come and see."
At that moment, the Chief Prophet Mage made up his mind; he originally planned to bring only a few capable assistants, but now he has changed his mind and intends to return to the Chief Council, submit a new proposal, and have the council dispatch more mages to participate in this expedition.
Regardless, just this experience is enough to change all their long-held notions.
As for what impact this will have, the Chief Prophet Mage still doesn’t know.
But he is certain it is unstoppable.
