Next, under the guide of the tour girl, Fang Zheng and the group visited other facilities of Amagi Brilliant Park.
This included...
The theater of Music Fairy Macaron, whose performance can make the audience feel incredibly happy — though it was closed because of a bad mood.
The Candy Fairy Matsubon’s Candy House, whose candy is said to be full of dreams and hope — inside, there were only shabby water guns and terrifying old mouse-killing games.
An indoor theater Elemental Hall, with four Elemental Sprites performing — however, only four girls with 0 acting skill could be seen on stage, utterly clueless with an empty audience.
The heart-pounding roller coaster, thrilling as a storm — slower than the city’s speed limit for cars.
The Child’s Playground where smiles blossom — totally deserted, according to Yukiko, not even a ghost was there.
The Free Fall designed for easy enjoyment by kids — even slower than an elevator.
The spinning coffee cup filled with love and peace — it felt like being out of control... or rather, spinning wildly like being crazy.
After one round, Fang Zheng’s group was utterly speechless.
"Ugh... I feel awful..."
Little Sakura lay on the table, face pale, and Shisei gently patted her back. On the other side, Little Hei was yawning out of boredom.
"I finally understand why no one comes to this amusement park. I wouldn’t want to come a second time either! Isn’t there a single normal amusement facility here?"
"L-Little Hei..."
Facing Little Hei’s complaint, Illya also wore a bitter smile... wanting to stop her but didn’t know what to do.
"Fate, how about you? Are you okay?"
Faced with Nanoha’s concerned inquiry, Fate shook her head.
"I’m fine, I... am quite happy."
"Happy???"
Though Nanoha didn’t say it directly, the expression on her face clearly showed she wanted to ask "what’s so happy about this?". Fate blushed slightly and turned to Fang Zheng.
"Because going out with Mr. Fang Zheng... is quite enjoyable."
"..."
This totally doesn’t count as an amusement park’s merit, does it?
"Brother... are you really planning to let this amusement park open?"
Even Sora showed doubts about Fang Zheng’s thoughts. In fact, even Fang Zheng himself began to question life.
Maybe it’s better to return it... This amusement park, with unmotivated employees and disastrous facilities, is really of no use to bring.
Originally, Fang Zheng thought of exchanging for a ready-made one to save effort. But now it seems he still made a mistake. Just like the planetarium built before, although its basic facilities were disastrous, Yume Hoshino at least has wanted to serve customers for decades. Once the hardware is improved for her, other issues wouldn’t be problems.
But here? Lifeless employees, lifeless equipment, lifeless entertainment projects... making Fang Zheng feel like seeing those lifeless state-owned enterprises in the ’80s on the verge of bankruptcy...
Fang Zheng thought maybe even building one from scratch would be better than this.
"Please enjoy."
While everyone was complaining, the tour girl came over with a tray and placed it in front of them.
"This is the amusement park’s signature croquette."
"Hmm... Seems normal from the appearance..."
Little Hei frowned, staring at the croquette before her, then after a moment of silence, she picked up one croquette.
"W-Wait, Little Hei, you’re going to eat it?"
"What’s the matter?"
Facing Illya’s attempt to stop her, Little Hei chuckled.
"Since we’re Heroic Spirits, we can’t eat to death, right? I’m hungry after a whole day... let me have a taste... ah oo!"
While speaking, Little Hei opened her mouth and took a bite of the croquette in her hand.
"Woo—!!"
As the croquette touched her mouth, Little Hei widened her eyes in surprise, letting out a strange sound. Hearing her cry, everyone else immediately looked on with concern.
"Little Hei?"
"What happened? Are you uncomfortable?"
"Woo... It’s quite tasty!"
"Eh?"
Watching Little Hei start munching on the croquette, everyone was shocked.
"Tasty?"
"Yeah, yeah, Illya, if you’re not eating yours, let me have it."
"I..."
Hearing Little Hei’s words, Illya hesitated, but she still took her croquette and carefully tasted it.
"Woo... It’s really good!"
"Really?"
"Let me try too."
Seeing Illya and Little Hei happily eating, everyone else curiously picked up their croquettes and took a bite, immediately showing content expressions.
"So delicious..."
"Totally unexpected, being able to taste such delicious croquettes here..."
"Yeah... the taste is indeed nice."
Looking at the croquette in his hand, Fang Zheng nodded with satisfaction, crispy and soft with sufficient filling done carefully, it undeniably counts as delicious.
"Any thoughts?"
At this moment, the tour girl who had been quietly observing beside them asked. Fang Zheng quickly finished his croquette and looked toward her.
"To be honest, you’d be better off turning this place into a themed restaurant."
That’s Fang Zheng’s sincere thought. As a theme park, this place is utterly terrible, but if they centered it around the taste of these croquettes to make a themed restaurant, it might have a better chance.
What’s this supposed to be now? Not wanting to work as a theme park manager doesn’t make a good chef?
"Is that so..."
The tour guide girl looked a bit dejected upon hearing Fang Zheng’s answer, but she quickly stood up.
"Please follow me."
"Where else are we going? Haven’t we already seen everything?"
Following the tour guide girl around all day, Fang Zheng and the others had basically experienced all the open attractions of the amusement park, each scoring zero. Only these croquettes made it a full score... but that’s useless for a theme park.
"To see the person who made the croquettes, are you coming?"
"Hmm..."
Hearing this, Fang Zheng and the girls exchanged glances, then stood up.
"Alright, at least it might give a somewhat nice end to this lousy amusement park trip, so let’s go have a look."
Contrary to Fang Zheng and the others’ expectations, the tour guide girl didn’t take them to a cafeteria or kitchen, but led them to the top floor of a castle-like building in the center of the amusement park.
"Please come in."
The tour guide girl pushed open the large balcony door and stepped aside. Fang Zheng exchanged a glance with Sora, and then led the other little girls in curiously. They then saw a beautiful girl, appearing to be around thirteen or fourteen, with golden hair, standing quietly by the tea table on the balcony, smiling as she looked at everyone.
"Welcome to Amagi Brilliant Park, my name is Latifa Fleurange, and I’m the manager of this theme park."
"Manager?"
Everyone, including Fang Zheng, was taken aback hearing this, as the girl before them appeared to be only a few years older than Nanoha and Little Sakura, yet she was already the manager of an amusement park?
"Please have a seat."
Smiling, the girl named Latifa reached out to invite everyone to sit at the tea table, which Fang Zheng, Sora, and the other girls did. Then, they saw Latifa lift the teapot and pour tea for everyone before sitting down in the main seat once more.
"Did you make the croquettes earlier?"
Looking at the girl in front of him dressed like a princess, Fang Zheng found it somewhat unbelievable, while Latifa nodded, a bit embarrassed.
"Yes, I make them every day, at least hoping that the guests can be a bit happier..."
"...Well, at least there’s someone doing their job."
Hearing Latifa’s response, Fang Zheng shrugged and commented. Hearing his comment, a bitter smile appeared on Latifa’s face as she looked at Fang Zheng.
"May I ask, what are your thoughts on Amagi Brilliant Park?"
"I’ve told her before, and I’ll say it again here."
Taking a sip from his tea, Fang Zheng pointed to the tour guide girl standing nearby.
"You’d have better prospects turning this place into a croquette themed restaurant."
"..."
Faced with Fang Zheng’s frank appraisal, Latifa lowered her head.
"I understand. You must be greatly unsatisfied... but Lord Fang Zheng, I have a request."
"Oh? What is it?"
Fang Zheng figured this sounded like an NPC giving him a mission. Latifa then lifted her head, her azure eyes fixed on him.
"Please revive this amusement park that is on the verge of bankruptcy."
"Huh?"
Stunned by this, Fang Zheng paused for a moment, and Latifa’s expression remained unchanged.
"I want to ask you to become the manager of Amagi Brilliant Park."
"..."
Everyone, including Fang Zheng, was astonished hearing this.
I just woke up, strolled through this amusement park out of idleness, and now you’re suddenly asking me to become a manager... I haven’t even brushed my teeth!
"You want me to be the manager?"
Fang Zheng furrowed his brow, and Latifa nodded.
"Yes, if it’s you, you can definitely save this amusement park, according to the prophecy we’ve received."
"Prophecy?"
"It’s a revelation from the gods."
As she spoke, Latifa stood up and walked to the edge of the balcony.
"We are residents of the Magic Kingdom, ’Maple Red Paradise.’ We come from a true Magic Kingdom different from this world. Most of the staff working at Amagi Brilliant Park are residents of the Magic Kingdom. However... if the number of visitors does not exceed five hundred thousand within the next three months, we residents of ’Maple Red Paradise’ will lose our place to live and our power to survive."
So, it wasn’t just a setup.
Hearing this, Fang Zheng and the girls weren’t particularly surprised, as they had already seen a lot on this journey.
"The residents of Maple Red Paradise need excitement, happiness, and joyful emotions to survive, which is why we built this amusement park. But, as you can see, the park is no longer able to continue. That’s when we received a prophecy that today, a special group of guests would visit the park, and Lord Fang Zheng, you are the key to saving it..."
So that’s how it is.
Hearing this, Fang Zheng nodded. It seemed strange for him to suddenly be asked to become a manager out of the blue, but it now made sense... so should he agree?
At that moment, a system prompt floated before Fang Zheng again.
[Facility Task Activated]
[Task ’Roller Coaster Tycoon’]
[Everyone has a beautiful childhood and dreams, saving dreams is akin to saving the world. Become the manager for this amusement park! (If successful, the Amagi Brilliant Park will be permanently stationed at Heavenly Dao Palace. If failed, you will lose the Amagi Brilliant Park building module)]
"Hmm..."
Looking at the task requirements before him, Fang Zheng was silent for a moment.
So, should he agree?
