As the cultural festival approached, everyone had more and more things to prepare. In addition to the Light Music Club’s scheduled activities, each class began preparing for their own events. Fang Zheng, Kazusa Touma, and Kiyora Setsuna’s Class E planned to set up a ghost house, while Komizo Yukina and Saiin-ji Sekai’s Class A decided on a maid café. As class president and vice president, naturally Fang Zheng and Kiyora Setsuna became busier. As for Kazusa Touma... Although she couldn’t care less about these activities, she obediently stayed under Fang Zheng’s threat of "If you don’t stay to help, go play by yourself."
"I... am... so... afraid... ah..."
In the dim light, a female ghost in disheveled hair and white clothes slowly emerged from the well. Seeing this scene, many people’s hairs stood on end, while Fang Zheng nodded in satisfaction.
"Well done. This female ghost really suits you, Touma."
"Haruno, this isn’t a compliment for a girl."
Even Kiyora Setsuna couldn’t help but interject, but Fang Zheng... didn’t care, of course.
"Who cares? At least we need a committed female ghost right now, don’t we? Well done."
"........."
Playing the female ghost, Kazusa Touma glared coldly at Fang Zheng and then shrank back into the well.
"This way, the setup is almost done."
Fang Zheng turned his head to once again carefully inspect the current ghost house.
"Let’s proceed as planned for the next part... We should be able to finish before the cultural festival. Let’s call it a day here, everyone worked hard."
"Well done!"
Hearing Fang Zheng speak, the other students around him immediately relaxed and began to turn around to head home. Fang Zheng greeted Kiyora Setsuna warmly and then walked to the classroom door—unsurprisingly, Sora and Gui Kotonoha were waiting there.
"Let’s go."
Greeting the two, Fang Zheng led them out of the school.
Gui Kotonoha only started walking home with Fang Zheng and the others a few days before the cultural festival began. The reason was simple: since the festival preparations began, Gui Kotonoha’s classmates had been pushing a lot of work onto her. Gui Kotonoha always tolerated it silently, without complaint, which Sora couldn’t stand. As a result, after finishing her own work, she would pull Gui Kotonoha away and go home with Fang Zheng. Moreover, around Fang Zheng, Kotonoha’s classmates didn’t dare to trouble her anymore.
After a few interactions with Gui Kotonoha, Fang Zheng had a pretty good grasp of this girl’s personality—obedient, introverted, shy, not good at communicating with others. Unlike Sora who couldn’t care less about forming relationships with classmates, Gui Kotonoha wanted to befriend people but didn’t know how.
No wonder she would kill.
Honestly, after understanding the situation around Gui Kotonoha, Fang Zheng almost understood why she would resort to violence. After all, a docile person bursting into anger is the scariest thing, and Kotonoha had been bullied in school. Coupled with any further provocation or incidents, it wouldn’t be surprising if she suddenly exploded like a volcano.
On the other hand, Saiin-ji Sekai puzzled Fang Zheng somewhat. Despite knowing her for quite some time, he felt Saiin-ji Sekai, though a bit cunning, was essentially lively, cute, and slightly mischievous. Unlike Gui Kotonoha, who had no friends and often faced cold violence, Saiin-ji Sekai seemed to have friends all over the world and was cheerful and outgoing, so why would she resort to violence without provocation? Fang Zheng couldn’t understand it.
"How was school today?"
In the train, Fang Zheng looked at the rapidly passing scenery outside the window and asked. Hearing his question, Sora snorted lightly.
"Boring."
"Alright."
Hearing the usual response, Fang Zheng shrugged with resignation.
"Even though I won’t ask you to get along with those people, you should still be mindful. Although they won’t bother you because of me, they might cause trouble for Classmate Gui. You can’t be by her side 24/7."
"I, I’m okay."
Upon hearing Fang Zheng speak, Gui Kotonoha, standing on the other side, quickly waved her hands and replied.
"Classmate Gui, the same goes for you."
Since he started speaking, Fang Zheng decided to say a few more words.
"Retreating can’t resolve problems. Remember, those people might be your classmates, but that’s it. If they don’t treat you as friends, you don’t need to treat them as friends either. Stand up and refuse when you need to. If you keep being obedient, those guys will only get worse."
"... Yes."
Hearing Fang Zheng speak, Gui Kotonoha lowered her head and replied softly. Watching this scene, Fang Zheng shrugged and said nothing more. After all, to solve school bullying, the person involved must take action. No matter how much outsiders do, it won’t help. If Gui Kotonoha continues like this, even if Sora protects her, there won’t be a good outcome.
Thus, the three of them remained silent for the journey, and Gui Kotonoha bid farewell halfway. Then, Fang Zheng brought Sora home.
After dinner and tidying up, Fang Zheng returned to his room to rest and gazed at the night scenery outside the window. By now, it was late at night, and rain started to fall, enveloping the entire town in a blur.
"Sometimes, it’s nice to relax like this."
Yawning, Fang Zheng relaxed. This world didn’t have any fighting or violence, just ordinary school life, which was refreshing. If every world he traveled to were this simple... attending class, flirting... oh, right, provided that irritating system doesn’t mess things up.
"Boom!!"
Just as Fang Zheng turned this thought, suddenly a clap of thunder echoed, and the next moment, the entire room plunged into pitch black.
"What the heck, did the power go out?"
This sudden blackout startled Fang Zheng, but in the next instant, a scream rang out, which made Fang Zheng jump off the bed.
"Ah------!!"
"Sora?"
Hearing this scream, Fang Zheng hurried out of his room, following the sound into the living room. But as soon as he reached the living room, a small figure rushed into his arms.
"Sora? Are you okay!"
Even though the living room was pitch black, Fang Zheng, with his "Dark Vision," could clearly see Sora in front of him, drenched from head to toe, merely wrapped in a bath towel—well, she was just showering moments ago.
"I-I’m okay..."
In Fang Zheng’s arms, Sora seemed to calm down a lot.
"Did the power go out?"
"Looks like there’s a power outage."
Fang Zheng glanced out the window; everything was dark. It seemed like that lightning strike earlier messed something up again.
"I see..."
Hearing Fang Zheng’s response, Sora murmured softly, but said nothing more, and the two of them stood there in silence. This was definitely not right.
"Sora? Go change your clothes, you’ll catch a cold like this."
"...Help me."
"Hmm? What?"
"Help me dry off..."
Burying her head in Fang Zheng’s chest, Sora spoke in a low voice.
"I can’t see by myself..."
I can’t see either... no, wait, I can see just fine.
"It’s okay, after all... we’re siblings."
"Alright."
Since Sora said so, Fang Zheng naturally wouldn’t insist otherwise. He took Sora to the bathroom, grabbed a towel, and began to wipe down the girl in front of him. Starting with her smooth long hair, then her cheeks, neck, shoulders, and then... ahem...
"Ugh..."
Feeling the touch from Fang Zheng, Sora bit her lip and lowered her head. Even in the darkness, Fang Zheng clearly saw the blush on her cheeks.
Hmm... the little girl’s figure is still a bit underdeveloped... she really needs to eat more meat.
Shaking off his random thoughts, Fang Zheng helped Sora dry off and then handed her pajamas to put on.
However, just as he was about to turn and leave, Sora reached out again and grabbed his arm.
"Can we... sleep together tonight?"
Faced with Sora’s suggestion, Fang Zheng naturally wouldn’t refuse. After all, it’s not the first time he’s slept with his sister.
Returning to the room, the power outage continued, and Sora, holding her pillow, lay down beside Fang Zheng.
"Alright, time to sleep."
"Brother..."
"Hmm?"
"How long... has it been since we slept together?"
"It’s been a while, I think."
Fang Zheng carefully recalled that they had been sleeping separately for quite some time, though it was a trivial matter.
"Hmm..."
Hearing Fang Zheng’s answer, Sora said nothing, closing her eyes. After a while, Fang Zheng also closed his eyes, drifting into a deep sleep.
However, not long after Fang Zheng closed his eyes, he suddenly felt a soft touch against his arm.
What is this...?
Just as Fang Zheng was puzzling, a soft voice echoed in his ear.
"Brother... big brother..."
It was Sora’s voice; it sounded a bit shaky and restrained.
Beside Fang Zheng, Sora was biting her lip, uttering a barely audible whimper. Her petite body trembled continuously, curled up beside him. After a moment, Fang Zheng felt the girl beside him suddenly tense up, followed by a sigh of relief as she returned to normal breathing.
A little while later, Sora’s once tempestuous breathing became steady, clearly indicating she had fallen into a deep sleep.
What a bother...
And lying beside Sora, feeling the warmth of the girl’s body, Fang Zheng sighed deeply in his heart.
What am I going to do about this...
