Ye Chen had just returned home when his phone rang.
The call was from Lin Wanrou.
"Sir, did you see the news?"
"What news?"
Ye Chen opened the website.
A piece of news came through, causing a sensation in the entire Chinese Community.
The web revealed that the list for the 76th Oscar nominations has been announced. Hua CountryРІР‚в„ўs film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" is nominated for three major awards: Best Foreign Language Film, Best Director, and Best Visual Effects.
As soon as the news came out, it caused an immediate sensation in Hua Country.
ItРІР‚в„ўs known that Hua Country has never had a film nominated for an Oscar award before.
"Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" is the first, and itРІР‚в„ўs nominated for three awards at once, which is unprecedented in Hua CountryРІР‚в„ўs history.
Especially Best Visual Effects and Best Director, these two titles are the most prestigious awards at the Oscars.
The Oscar Awards ceremony will be held in seven days, and Ye Chen is a special guest.
Almost on the same day, another piece of news arrived.
"Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" received twelve nominations at the Golden Eagle Awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Actress, Best Music, and Best Design, making it the biggest winner at the Golden Eagle Awards.
A single film obtaining twelve nominations also set a record.
The Golden Eagle Awards ceremony will take place in three days.
Ye Chen, along with Zhou Fa, Tong Xiaoya, and Liu Hua, the main actors, will attend the Golden Eagle Awards ceremony.
In the car, the few of them were chatting and laughing.
Back then, when Zhou Fa was making this movie, no one thought he would succeed; skepticism was rampant.
Yet Zhou Fa proved himself with his acting skills.
Tong Xiaoya and Liu Hua are regulars at the Golden Eagle Awards, but itРІР‚в„ўs Zhou FaРІР‚в„ўs first time attending such an event.
"Are you nervous, Zhou Fa?" Ye Chen asked with a smile.
"Yes, a bit nervous," Zhou Fa nodded.
Thinking about it, itРІР‚в„ўs just like a dream; a month ago, he was still playing an extra, but now he has become a big star.
Ye Chen smiled lightly: "Well, keep a calm heart, I believe one day you will become a superstar."
Zhou Fa nodded vigorously: "Mr. Ye, you are my benefactor; without you, I couldnРІР‚в„ўt have achieved what I have today."
Ye Chen shook his head: "Alright, this is also the result of your hard work, no need to thank me."
Half an hour later, the group got out of the car.
After getting out of the car, itРІР‚в„ўs the red carpet, with many journalists taking photos in front of it, and quite a few guests had already arrived.
At this moment, Dong Bo was standing on the red carpet waving to the journalists.
However, when everyone saw Ye Chen, they directly ignored Dong Bo and surrounded Ye Chen.
Dong BoРІР‚в„ўs face turned livid, but he could only fume quietly.
After all, Ye ChenРІР‚в„ўs popularity is far higher than his now; he simply canРІР‚в„ўt compare.
Ye Chen stood on the red carpet with Zhou Fa and the others, waving to the journalists.
The journalists handed their microphones to Ye Chen in succession.
"Mr. Ye, how many major awards do you think our film will win today?"
Ye Chen smiled and said: "LetРІР‚в„ўs see how fate decides."
Other journalists asked questions one after another.
Compared to the bustling scene on Ye ChenРІР‚в„ўs side, Dong BoРІР‚в„ўs side was very dismal, with no one paying attention.
Two journalists from small tabloids wanted to interview Dong Bo.
Dong Bo was initially quite happy, but his face turned black as he heard the question from them.
"Mr. Dong, do you regret withdrawing from the РІР‚в„ўCrouching Tiger, Hidden DragonРІР‚в„ў crew?"
"No comment," Dong Bo left with a black face.
After taking photos on the red carpet and finishing the interviews, Ye Chen and the others entered the venue.
Ye ChenРІР‚в„ўs seat was very close to the front.
Beside him, Zhou Fa was very nervous, and his body was even trembling.
Ye Chen said with a smile: "Relax."
At this moment, Dong Bo walked over, and their seats happened to be next to each other.
Seeing Ye Chen, Dong BoРІР‚в„ўs face fell.
Because of Ye Chen, his popularity was greatly affected.
Although his film was nominated for the Golden Eagle Awards, it didnРІР‚в„ўt even make back its cost at the box office, flopping terribly.
It was clearly the movie that failed, but he blamed Ye Chen for his movie flopping.
Ye Chen glanced at Dong Bo, looking smug and displaying an expression as if he was seeing an idiot.
Back then, Dong Bo deliberately withdrew from the "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" crew, scornfully criticizing Ye ChenРІР‚в„ўs directing skills.
As a result, this movie became the box office champion in recent years, while Dong BoРІР‚в„ўs film, which had a billion investment, only made ten million at the box office, becoming a recognized flop.
If Dong Bo hadnРІР‚в„ўt withdrawn back then, he would have gotten a share.
Just from the share, Dong Bo could have at least earned a billion in bonuses.
Now, due to his withdrawal and scornful criticism of Ye Chen, not only did he lose money, but his reputation also suffered.
At this moment, all the guests had been seated, and the lights dimmed.
The hosts for this Golden Eagle Awards are Teacher He and the famous mainland host, Miss Zhu Zhu.
As the lights dimmed, music accompaniment sounded in the venue.
"Ladies and gentlemen, good evening, welcome to the Golden Eagle Awards ceremony, to participate in this celebration."
The audience applauded thunderously.
Ye Chen also watched smilingly at the hosts.
Although this process was quite dull, the camera was on, so even if it was boring, he had to pay attention.
First came some polite speeches, followed by performances.
Going back on stage marked the first award of this Golden Eagle Awards, Best Editing Award.
This was also one of the nominated awards for "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."
Unfortunately, "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" did not win the award in the end.
Then followed several awards unrelated to "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."
The sixth award, Best Screenplay Award.
"Ladies and gentlemen, now I announce the winner of the Best Screenplay Award is, РІР‚в„ўCrouching Tiger, Hidden DragonРІР‚в„ў Ye Chen."
At the same time, the camera focused on Ye Chen.
Today, Ye Chen maximized his Charm Value, making him more charming than usual.
Usually, Ye ChenРІР‚в„ўs Charm Value is around 6, and even so, he attracts many girls; now at Charm 10, it drew exclamations from many young girls.
Next was the Best Production Award.
Upon seeing the winning work, Teacher He was shocked.
"Oh my God, Mr. Ye is truly a versatile talent, the winner of the Best Production Award is РІР‚в„ўCrouching Tiger, Hidden DragonРІР‚в„ў Ye Chen."
The venue erupted in enthusiastic applause once again.
"Please welcome Mr. Ye to the stage, along with the award presenters."
Ye Chen walked onto the stage for the second time.
Up next was the award acceptance speech.
Ye Chen stood on the stage, speaking into the microphone: "Today, I am able to receive this award, firstly because I want to thank our film crew; it is your efforts that have led to the achievement of РІР‚в„ўCrouching Tiger, Hidden DragonРІР‚в„ў today. It is because of your unwavering support amidst a whirlwind of doubts that todayРІР‚в„ўs glory is forged; this award belongs to all of us..."
Below, Dong Bo was almost driven mad with anger, this was clearly targeted at him.
Ye Chen deliberately mentioned the whirlwind of doubts, didnРІР‚в„ўt that specifically refer to him?
The director was, whether intentionally or not, focusing the camera on Dong Bo, whose face was black.
Ye Chen finished his speech and then stepped down, the audience erupted in applause once more.
Just at the beginning, Ye Chen had already won two major awards!
