If one day, the god you believe in stands before you and offers to enlighten you into immortality, would you be ecstatic? I believe most people in this world would excitedly say: I am willing.
Watching Ye Xuan in the scene, many cultivators were envious. They have cultivated all their lives and have never seen a true deity, let alone been enlightened by one into immortality.
But Ye Xuan just played the flute for a while, and the Nine Heavens Mysterious Lady appeared to offer to enlighten him into immortality. Such luck is extraordinary.
At this moment, many people secretly thought they might need to learn some musical instruments too. Maybe one day, they could also attract the attention of a deity. However, at this moment, they could only watch Ye Xuan in the scene with envy.
“It seems that Ye Xuan must have agreed to the Nine Heavens Mysterious Lady’s enlightenment without hesitation.”
“He must’ve also gave up with the appointment with the Dragon Princess which is quite shameful.”
Some people, jealous of Ye Xuan’s opportunity with the Nine Heavens Mysterious Lady, couldn’t help but make some sour remarks. In reality, if it were them, they would have agreed to go with the Nine Heavens Mysterious Lady without hesitation.
In the scene, Ye Xuan heard the Nine Heavens Mysterious Lady reveal her identity and was somewhat surprised. “Nine Heavens Mysterious Lady... Are you a deity from the heavens?”
The Nine Heavens Mysterious Lady slightly raised her lips, showing a rather cold smile and nodded.
“Sorry, I can’t go with you.” Ye Xuan said.
“Uh... Why?” The Nine Heavens Mysterious Lady was a bit puzzled: “Don’t you want to become immortal?”
“Yes, of course I do.” Ye Xuan said: “But I have an appointment here with someone and cannot leave with you.”
“An appointment with someone?” The Nine Heavens Mysterious Lady said: “Do you mean to tell me that just because of an appointment, you want to miss this chance to ascend to immortality? You will regret this in the future.”
“Leaving with you, I don’t know if I will regret it in the future, but if I leave with you now, I might regret it immediately.”
Ye Xuan bowed to the Nine Heavens Mysterious Lady, “Thank you, Goddess, for your favor, but perhaps I am not destined to become immortal.”
The Nine Heavens Mysterious Lady looked at Ye Xuan quietly.
“Ye Xuan actually refused?”
“Incredible–!!!”
“Is he out of his mind? Refusing such a great opportunity?”
“I have every reason to believe that he is indeed out of his mind.”
“He probably doesn’t understand the benefits of becoming immortal.”
“Yes, indeed...”
“But I think it’s admirable that he keeps his word.”
“Heh, keeping his word? It’s more likely that he doesn’t believe the Nine Heavens Mysterious Lady.”
Do you not believe that I am the Nine Heavens Mysterious Lady?”The Nine Heavens Mysterious Lady said to Ye Xuan, “If you leave with me, I can make you ascend to the heavens in an instant.”
As she spoke, she gently pointed towards Ye Xuan. The next moment, Ye Xuan felt as if he were floating on clouds. Looking around, he realized he was already in the sky.
“I can also grant you eternal life. Even when earthly immortals age, celestial immortals remain as youthful as ever.”
With another wave of her hand, Ye Xuan felt as though he witnessed the changing of the seas into mulberry fields and the aging of gods. Yet, for the immortals in the heavens, it was all but a fleeting moment.
“Hiss–!!!”
Seeing this scene unfold, all the cultivators couldn’t help but gasp in astonishment.
This scene was exactly like what they had seen when they looked into the Cosmic Cave Heaven. For them, everything in the Cosmic Cave Heaven was also just a moment in time.
Could it be that, for those in the heavens, they too are just the same? All their experiences are merely fleeting shadows in an instant.
“Do you see?”The Nine Heavens Mysterious Lady said to Ye Xuan, “Everything you are experiencing now is but a moment for the immortals and gods in the heavens. No matter what promises you have made to anyone, once you enter the heavens, everything will become the past.”
At this moment, all the cultivators couldn’t help but show a hint of sadness. For mortals, they were just ants in the eyes of cultivators. In a fleeting moment, the world changes, and for cultivators, time seems to have little meaning.
But for the celestial beings, their entire lives also seem to be just a fleeting moment. If given the opportunity, they would definitely want to agree to go with the Nine Heavens Mysterious Lady.
As for appointments... It’s not such a big deal, why keep it? Moreover, the Donghai Dragon Princess didn’t arrive on time herself.
“Thank you for your guidance, but I still want to stay here.” Ye Xuan said: “I have an appointment with the Donghai Dragon Princess, and she hasn’t arrived yet. I cannot leave.”
“Sigh.” The Nine Heavens Mysterious Lady sighed and shook her head: “What a pity.”
It was unclear what she was pitying. After speaking, she turned and left.
In the next moment, Ye Xuan returned to the place where he was playing the flute, feeling a bit lost. He knew he had missed a great opportunity. However, there was no regret in his eyes.
If it were a normal appointment, he wouldn’t need to keep it. But the Donghai Dragon Princess saved his life; how could he not wait for her?
At this moment, the sea waves parted, and the Donghai Dragon Princess walked out of the sea. She smiled at Ye Xuan: “Sorry to keep you waiting. My father insisted on playing with me, and it took a lot of effort to get away.”
“No problem, I haven’t waited long.” Ye Xuan smiled. At this moment, his expression was extraordinarily gentle.
Watching this scene, many people couldn’t help but be moved. At this moment, Ye Xuan truly seemed like a gentle person. He clearly waited for the Dragon Princess for so long, even missing a great opportunity.
But he did not blame the Dragon Princess for being late. Actually, if the Dragon Princess had arrived a bit earlier, Ye Xuan could have kept his appointment and still left with the Nine Heavens Mysterious Lady.
Alas, it was such a pity. Watching this scene, the future Dragon Princess couldn’t help but twitch her face. She never thought she had such a past with Ye Xuan.
Could it be that because of her tardiness, Ye Xuan missed this great opportunity, which led to his later actions? This shouldn’t be–!! Why did she have no memory of such a past?
“Ye Xuan, your flute playing is so beautiful. Can you teach me to play this flute?” In the evening, the Dragon Princess reluctantly stood under the sunset and asked Ye Xuan, “So I can play with you in the future too.”
“Of course.” Ye Xuan said, “But it’s already late today. I’ll teach you tomorrow.”
“Hmm, that’s settled then–!!!” The Dragon Princess nodded happily and left.
