This state continued until Shen Yuan arrived through transmigration. It was then that he chose to leave that time node, hence forming a closed loop in the cycles of tens of thousands of years.
As soon as Shen Yuan returned to the present world, he immediately ascended to the Major Heavenly Immortal Realm in one step, and with the enlightenment of tens of thousands of years, he successfully wielded the will of the Primal Chaos Realm's world, defeating the powerful enemy, Golden Immortal Bai Yun.
Thus, the causal cycle within the Primal Chaos Realm related to Shen Yuan himself came full circle; he was both the cause of the past and the result of the future.
At this moment, evoking causal retribution was pointless, as the already closed causal loop could not trigger the killing tribulation.
Perhaps outside the Primal Chaos Realm, there were a handful of Highest Heaven beings and even those above Highest Heaven connected to Shen Yuan's own causality; clearly, however, the causal killing tribulation of a Golden Immortal could not shake the Highest Heaven Realm.
Seizing this opportunity, it was only natural for Shen Yuan to ascend to the Highest Heaven.
As he stepped into eternity, the evolution of Shen Yuan's own Great Tao Manifestation, which had been somewhat stagnant, was once again set into motion.
At this moment, not only did Shen Yuan converge most of his causality, but he also pushed the five paths of heaven, earth, humanity, supernatural beings, and divine immortals to their limits upon his Great Tao Manifestation.
Furthermore, by accomplishing the feat of ascending to the Major Heavenly Immortal Realm in one step, Shen Yuan had successfully acquired the transcendental characteristic he had foreseen, and the unification of the five paths on his Great Tao Manifestation had already transcended the dimensions themselves.
Keep in mind, transcendence is a characteristic exclusive to the Highest Heaven Realm, where beings transcend eternal time to authenticate their uniqueness, standing at the pinnacle of all worlds.
In fact, most Divinity Path Emperors become Highest Heaven by divine imperial decree and do not possess the transcendental trait of Highest Heaven; only those who have forged their own path, or Highest Heaven powerful experts in control of the Great Tao Origin, are qualified to attain transcendence.
Already in command of the Heavenly General and Earthly Destroyer Divine Power, possessing the unique characteristic of being the only one in all worlds and this world, coupled with the Divinity Path Emperor's incorporeal persona and transcendental nature, Shen Yuan's Great Tao Manifestation was nearly indistinguishable from that of a Highest Heaven being, despite the differences in realm.
Even within the Primal Chaos Realm sector of the great chiliocosm, Shen Yuan could suppress all foreign enemies below the Highest Heaven using the might of the world's will; in such a state, combined with the Great Tao Manifestation, he was essentially a walking Highest Heaven in the world.
The status of Shen Yuan's being finally reached an unprecedented peak.
The historical river channel in front of him slowly closed as Shen Yuan, at the peak of his state, attempted to probe the essence of this historical river.
Behind him, the Great Tao Manifestation transcendent of dimensions finally descended into the world.
The majestic figure appeared as if an Emperor had descended to the mortal world, or as if a Mortal Emperor had gone on an inspection, with the five paths of heaven, earth, humanity, supernatural beings, and divine immortals synthesizing a road never seen before.
With one step, the Great Tao Manifestation entered into the river of time. This was the first time Shen Yuan entered the river of time without using the Rebounding Wind Returning Fire Great Divine Power.
The figure of the Great Tao Manifestation began to rise infinitely, with myriads of Tao principles evolving around it, seeking to pierce through the boundless time stream and the colossal hand severing the causality of tens of thousands of years' worth of time and space.
Layers of temporal mists were pushed aside, and Shen Yuan finally caught a glimpse of the sights above the historical river.
It was a middle-aged man with a jade-like visage, dressed in a pale blue Taoist robe, sitting calmly.
Underneath him, the remains of a local deity with a human head and a dragon's body stretched across the historical river; the raging torrents blocked by the corpse, the onward march of history seemingly solidified at this point.
And at the other end of the river, the middle-aged man's right hand opened and pressed down upon the historical river.
The moment he saw that scene, a name suddenly flashed through Shen Yuan's mind.
Heaven Overturning Seal!
Under the Heaven Overturning Seal, causality in time and space was severed, giving countless fish the opportunity to swim upstream and transform from fish into dragons.
In that river, Shen Yuan seemed to see one peerless genius after another, standing at the pinnacle of the heavens, swinging their longswords at a dimming Great Sun.
Then space-time shattered into a fleeting dream, and everything returned to the beginning, with only the middle-aged man and the deity corpse that obstructs the river's flow to the future remaining above the river.
As Shen Yuan glimpsed all this truth, the middle-aged man slowly turned his head to look at Shen Yuan, his majestic demeanor revealing a trace of appreciation as he nodded towards Shen Yuan and said,
"Fine!"
The next moment, the historical river in front of Shen Yuan shattered thunderously, and he returned from the previous strange state to normal.
Looking again, the historical river channel that had been opened from the Primal Chaos Realm was still there, but now Shen Yuan could clearly see that the future of the surging historical river had been severed.
This meant that the historical torrent had halted there, never to reach the true future.
"Could it be so?"
Shen Yuan couldn't help but murmur to himself in a low voice.
Just at that moment, the Pitch-Black Demon God that Shen Yuan had captured and had since fallen silent finally stirred, its hoarse voice laced with mockery as it spoke:
"It seems you have also seen the future that has already been severed."
Shen Yuan's eyes rose with a hint of interest, his gaze flitting to the Pitch-Black Demon God, somewhat surprised that a mere Golden Immortal could be privy to such secrets.
Shen Yuan didn't thrust the Pitch-Black Demon God into the river of history primarily because the Pitch-Black Demon God wasn't a disciple under the Yuqing Sect. It would be inappropriate for Shen Yuan to trouble Yuanshi Tianzun to erase his Eternal True Intent.
Leaving him behind casually, Shen Yuan actually had an unexpected gain.
Shen Yuan, full of interest, said, "It seems you know quite a bit, tell me everything in detail.
If the news pleases me, I don't mind sending your bit of Eternal True Intent out of the Primal Chaos Realm."
"Haha! Truly, ignorance knows no fear. You have no idea what you are actually facing."
The voice of the Pitch-Black Demon God became a few degrees sharper, a thick malicious intent emanating from his Eternal True Intent.
"Almost forgot to introduce myself. My name is Great Black Sky, one of the Twenty-Four Protective Deities!
Of course, that's just one of my identities."
The Eternal True Intent began to draw on the darkness around it. Shen Yuan did not stop it, allowing the dense darkness to form into a pitch-black authority token.
On the authority token, two bold characters were inscribed.
"Heaven's Decree!"
Great Black Sky manifested a fierce countenance and declared aloud:
"My other identity is similar to yours, also once a counter-current fish driven by Yuanshi Tianzun.
In that cycle of Great Reincarnation, I once leveraged the Dragon Gate Secret Order to traverse through time, reversing the future of Qingming Great World that was on the brink of collapse, successfully grasping the Heaven's Decree Secret Order, and with it, ascended to the stage of Golden Immortal.
I thought everything would change with this, but when I returned to this time point, I discovered several Dusk Realm Golden Immortals of strength not inferior to mine had already been waiting here, attempting to hunt me down.
I fought desperately and ultimately fled with my life, only to find that even though I changed the history of the Qingming Realm, the future that awaited was still one where all heavens fall.
The Dusk Realm governed all worlds, hoisting the corrupt Great Sun to decay all heavens, solely to elevate that one to the stage of Tao Achievement.
From beginning to end, us counter-current fish directed by Yuanshi Tianzun were not truly confronting the so-called past history or the external enemies of the Dusk Realm, but a supreme entity who was only one step away from the stage of Tao Achievement!"
A thunderbolt resounded above the firmament, a Great Dusk Sun slowly rising.
Even if the Nine Provinces Cauldron, using the fate of humanity from the Primal Chaos Realm, laid down a barrier capable of blocking the descent of the Highest Heaven Emperor, it still couldn't shake the Great Dusk Sun rising within the Primal Chaos Realm.
That was the corrupted past, the finale of all futures!
Great Black Sky howled as if mad:
"That supreme entity will surely ascend to the Tao Achievement, this is a future already foreordained. I cannot change it, and neither can you!"
Shen Yuan felt a tremor in his heart, staring directly at Great Black Sky, he questioned:
"According to what you've said, you've already failed, even becoming one of the Twenty-Four Protective Deities.
In that case, that entity should have ascended to the Tao Achievement by now."
A look that was neither crying nor laughing appeared on Great Black Sky's face.
"The reason is simple, everything was reset."
"Reset?"
"In the moment when I was about to fail, a destructive sword light the likes of which had never been seen before cleaved through all worlds, interrupting the ascension ritual that was about to happen.
From there, all heavens collapsed, Heavenly King Pangu re-opened the heavens and earth, evolving all heavens for the next round of Great Reincarnation.
The Almighty Three Pure Ones could not directly interfere with the ritual of Tao Achievement. They could only scatter pieces across the board, and when all the pieces failed, they would overturn the board and recreate all heavens, starting the next game."
"And we, the pieces that have failed, either perish completely or become subjugated under that supreme entity.
Therefore, you and I are no different, and perhaps when this cycle of Great Reincarnation ends, you too will become one of the Twenty-Four Protective Deities!"
