At this moment, the Empress suddenly said, "What are you saying? Anle has long been promised to someone. Besides, Marquis Yun has just met you for the first time, and you're already speaking of these matters. Aren't you afraid of scaring Marquis Yun?"
Ji Yi helplessly chuckled lightly and said, "It seems I've gotten a little confused. Alas, I can't be blamed; I've simply taken a great liking to Marquis Yun upon meeting him!"
The Empress said, "Your Majesty, time is on our side. Marquis Yun won't leave the Capital City in just a day or two; there will be plenty of opportunities. Once you've recovered, you can meet with Marquis Yun more often."
Ji Yi chuckled lightly, "That's very good!"
The Empress looked at Gu Zhan and said, "Marquis Yun, His Majesty's health is unwell, and the Imperial Physician has advised he needs more rest. Let's end today here. When His Majesty recovers, he will summon you again."
Gu Zhan stood up, cupped his hands and said, "If that's the case, I shall take my leave!"
Ji Yi slightly nodded.
The Empress instructed the eunuch next to her, "Escort Marquis Yun out of the palace."
Immediately, the eunuch respectfully invited Gu Zhan to leave.
Once Gu Zhan had gone far away,
The Empress waved her hand, instructing all the maids and eunuchs in the hall to leave and close the door.
At that instant, the Empress's smiling face suddenly turned somber, coldly looking at Ji Yi on the bed and said, "Is Your Majesty trying to let Marquis Yun break into the Imperial Palace to set things right? Why didn't you just tell him directly earlier? Marquis Yun is reputed as the best under heaven; who knows, perhaps he could indeed single-handedly oppose the entire Imperial City Guard and the Sacrificial Pavilion!"
Ji Yi lay motionless on the bed, his gaze coldly fixed on Empress Lü Wantang, without speaking.
Lü Wantang slowly sat by the bedside and said, "Your Majesty, why must you do this? For one Gu Zhan, you intend to oppose the Ji Family and the Lü Family? Don't you understand who granted you your throne? For one Gu Zhan, you're willing to give up your throne!"
Ji Yi's face darkened, "It's not for Gu Zhan; it's for the Xia Kingdom, for this hard-earned state stability, Lü Wantang. Do you know what you all are doing now? You're leading the Xia Kingdom toward destruction; the Xia Kingdom will be ruined at your hands!"
"Humph," Lü Wantang said, "The Xia Kingdom will not be ruined by us; rather, it will prosper for generations, unify the world. Ji Yi, you've truly become muddled; don't you understand the significance of the Method of Divine Sight? Don't you comprehend the meaning behind the Immortal Sect inheritance that Gu Zhan holds?
Do you know that the Method of Divine Sight can create limitless Land Immortals? Do you not comprehend what this means? This means we can directly annex Southern Jin and Beiwei, step out of the Northern Wilderness, and unify the world!"
Ji Yi coldly smirked, remaining silent.
Lü Wantang continued, "Do you know how terrifying Gu Zhan's inheritance is? He, an ordinary person without Martial Arts knowledge, achieved such accomplishments in just four years. If this inheritance were in the hands of the Lü Family and Ji Family, what difficulty is there in unifying the world?"
Ji Yi slightly shook his head, "You've been blinded by greed."
"It's not us who are blinded; it's you who are wrong, forgetting the essence of this world!"
At this moment, a white-bearded elder emerged from the main hall.
Upon seeing the elder, the Empress hastily bowed respectfully, "Ancestor."
The elder nodded slightly, walked up to Ji Yi, and said, "Yi'Er, Ancestor will ask you for the final time, are you truly unwilling to cooperate?"
Ji Yi looked at the elder before him, a trace of sorrow in his eyes.
This was the Ji Family Ancestor, the most formidable among the Ji Family Noble Families' few Land Immortals, who had once helped him ascend the throne single-handedly but now came personally to destroy him.
Ji Yi gazed at the Ji Family Ancestor and said, "Oh Ancestor, you all are truly mistaken; the Method of Divine Sight is a new system of Martial Arts inheritance. I understand its value very well; I know it can change the era. However, we don't need to do this. Gu Zhan is a citizen of Great Xia, he's the Duke of Great Xia. His ability to create the Method of Divine Sight means he is more valuable than the Method itself.
Now, Great Xia has just stabilized, internal and external troubles remain, but with him as the best under heaven, with his creation of the Method of Divine Sight, as long as he guards the borders for a day, we need not fear foreign enemies for Great Xia. The world covets his Method of Divine Sight, does this not prove that everyone dreads his Method of Divine Sight?
He is a martial enthusiast, one addicted to Martial Arts. As long as the Royal Family treats him sincerely, he will return that sincerity. Great Xia will then possess a Stabilizing Needle; why should we seek to destroy him? If he were to disseminate the Method of Divine Sight within Great Xia, wouldn't the Royal Family be the first to benefit?"
The Ji Family Ancestor shook his head, "You are mistaken; you haven't understood at all. Our true purpose is not merely the Method of Divine Sight but the unparalleled inheritance behind Gu Zhan!"
Ji Yi helplessly smiled and said, "If it were for the Method of Divine Sight, I might still accept it, as its significance is immense. But you are merely pursuing an imagined inheritance?
The so-called unparalleled inheritance is nothing but your fantasy; there's no evidence whatsoever that Gu Zhan holds any kind of unparalleled inheritance. Just for something imaginary, are you willing to gamble the entire state? The Xia Kingdom cannot withstand any turmoil anymore. If you truly take action against Gu Zhan, if you win, the world will be plunged into chaos, the people's hearts will collapse, and Southern Jin and Beiwei, fearing this, will surely unite to attack.
If you lose, Gu Zhan will surely raise an army, possibly even to open the gates and let foreign enemies invade. The Xia Kingdom will perish!"
"You are wrong," the Ji Family Ancestor said, "Firstly, Gu Zhan absolutely possesses an unparalleled inheritance; otherwise, how could he have achieved such accomplishments?"
