Amidst the Martial World, there are always a few tacit rules,
Among them, the most common are two: first is seniority, the other is the hardness of one’s fist.
If one’s martial world seniority is sufficient, while walking the world, whether for face or reputation, others will more or less show respect, at least openly so as not to invite gossip, and to elders, people are always very respectful.
Then there are those whose fists are hard enough. Such people walk the martial world and everyone gives them face, because not giving face will easily get you beaten.
Besides these two, there are other considerations,
such as background, such as influence, and so on.
Now, this Celestial Deformed Leg Yu Fengxing is formidable. Every essential criterion for moving in the martial world, he possesses them all.
As for seniority, he is of the same generation as the old Sect Leader Zhang Xuanche of Lingxi Sword Sect. In today’s Canglan Daoist Martial World, he is the highest-ranked old hand. In terms of strength, the fame of Celestial Deformed Leg was earned with his one broken leg. And in terms of background and power, he lacks nothing—Changfeng Valley is a first-rate force, the top sect in Pingyang.
A man such as this is worthy of being called revered and respected.
So, when he appears,
even Noble Family Head Lu Tianyang and Guardian Elder of Mountain Moving Sect, both seasoned Great Cultivators, all take the initiative to salute and show their respect.
Gu Fengwei also bowed deeply, saying, "Greetings, Elder Yu."
Yu Fengxing leaned on his cane and slowly walked forward a few steps, looked at Gu Fengwei and nodded, saying, "Patriarch Gu, more than ten years ago, the Gu Family moved here from Qingzhou. I watched you step by step establish yourselves here. It was truly not easy, very hard."
Gu Fengwei said, "We must thank the support of many martial peers."
Yu Fengxing shook his head and said, "There is no such thing as support or nonsupport. Surviving in the martial world depends on one’s own strength and persistence. The Gu Family, as outsiders, survived by merging into the Lingyang Gu Family, a small clan of no standing. To reach today, it has truly been a difficult journey.
However, Patriarch Gu, you must know that the martial world is wild and turbulent. Remember to think thrice before acting. Sometimes, one wrong move can mean no redemption. Today, you, Gu Family, are tangled up with Gu Zhan, that evil demon outcast. Truly, it is unwise.
You must think carefully. The Gu Family has reached today, not easily. If you make a single reckless choice and let years of effort go to waste, is it worth it?"
Gu Fengwei’s expression did not change, replying with neither arrogance nor humility: "Elder Yu, no need to use words to disturb people’s hearts. The Gu Family disciples lack not for resolve.
Also, I must correct an error, Elder. Gu Zhan is Embroidered Uniform Guard Thousand Households, appointed by Canglan City. All the major sects of Pingyang jointly signed the joint declaration. Your current attempt to denounce Gu Zhan violates the rules!"
Yu Fengxing shook his head lightly and said, "Patriarch Gu, let me advise you, regardless of what relation Gu Zhan has to your Gu Family, just stop here and cut your losses in time.
Rules or not, Patriarch Gu should be clear—the so-called joint declaration, if we acknowledge it, then it counts; if we don’t, then it’s just scrap paper.
It’s not that we are violating the joint declaration; rather, Gu Zhan acts in defiance. For the sake of martial world order, for the sake of righteous Dao’s survival, we agreed to sign the statement, to jointly develop the martial world. Yet Gu Zhan betrayed trust and fell into Demon Dao,
not only failing to develop the righteous martial world, but instead acting as a cruel official, wantonly massacring martial peers. Should he not be reckoned with? Should he not pay for the lives of Lingxi Sword Sect’s hundreds of disciples?"
Gu Fengwei replied calmly, "Elder Yu, what you call ’betraying trust and falling into Demon Dao’ is your personal opinion. Besides, Gu Zhan is Embroidered Uniform Guard, he is Government Office, not a martial world person. Is it suitable for you to constrain him with martial world rules?"
Yu Fengxing said sternly, "Is there a Government Office in Yunxi Land? The rebuilding of Embroidered Uniform Guard is due to the support of our Pingyang Martial World, Canglan City, the governance of Beidou Bang—all are martial arts, are martial world, not government, not court. Gu Zhan acts as a cruel official in Pingyang, and so Pingyang Righteous Dao Martial World has the duty to reckon with him, and rid the righteous Dao of evil!"
Gu Zhan stood beside Gu Fengwei and raised his brow slightly,
This Yunxi, indeed, is where the court and government offices practically don’t exist,
Though the Great Xia Court is already rotten, and many disregard it, but for martial world gangs to so bluntly claim there is no court anywhere as in Yunxi Land, there are surely few places like it.
The mountainside fell silent,
Gu Fengwei was left speechless by Yu Fengxing’s words.
Just then, a fierce sound of hoofbeats rang,
At the foot of the mountain, a Red Fire Dragon Steed leapt three or four yards, quickly charging up,
The crowd surged, yet all hurriedly made way, for the newcomer was Sixth Young Master Mo Beiyan of Canglan City.
The Red Fire Dragon Steed came like a streak of fire blown by the wind, quickly rushing to the mountainside, Mo Beiyan dismounted and said loudly, "Since you don’t talk about the government, but about the martial world, then in Canglan Dao, we must talk about the rules of Canglan City!"
Mo Beiyan flung aside the reins and strode forward, arching his hands to Yu Fengxing: "Elder Yu, the rules of Canglan City, you of Pingyang Martial World surely recognize them, do you not?"
Yu Fengxing smiled slightly and said, "The rules of Beidou Bang, set by the Dragon King, naturally I recognize them."
"Good," Mo Beiyan announced loudly, "Gu Zhan is Embroidered Uniform Guard Thousand Households, personally appointed by my father. His actions in Pingyang Prefecture came after signing the joint declaration with Pingyang Martial World. Now, you prepare to besiege him—are you treating the rules of Canglan City like worthless shit?"
Yu Fengxing spoke slowly, "Sixth Young Master, it is not that we violate the rules of Canglan City, but that Gu Zhan betrayed trust first. He violated the rules of Canglan City. Did your father never tell you, that possessing Canglan City’s command does not mean one can wantonly massacre martial peers?"
Mo Beiyan’s expression hardened.
Yu Fengxing continued, "Sixth Young Master, Gu Zhan claims Lingxi Sword Sect colluded with the Mang Mountain Thieves, but as we know, Lingxi Sword Sect itself brought out its own traitors and personally sent them to Youyang City to hand over to Gu Zhan,
Yet Gu Zhan behaved as a cruel official, unjustly massacred the entire Lingxi Sword Sect. Sixth Young Master, such perverse, demonic ways, are surely not the style of Beidou Bang?"
Mo Beiyan said gloomily, "This matter, I will have Beidou Bang investigate and handle it. You shouldn’t..."
"Sixth Young Master," just then, Noble Family Head Lu also came forward and said, "Those who kill must pay with their lives, heaven’s law, eternal truth. My Lu Family Grand Elder was also killed without cause by Gu Zhan. If you think just a few words can make us let this go, I fear that won’t work."
"Indeed," Chen Family Head also spoke up, "Sixth Young Master, we respect you, and we signed the joint declaration. But now you put us in a position of injustice—this is unreasonable, is it not? Even before the Dragon King, you would not be justified!"
