On Cuwei Peak, the powerhouses of the Five Regions gathered.
The Eight Pillars of the Five Domains, martial arts families, the Li Imperial Clan, powerhouses from the Northern Frontier, the Female Emperor of the Southern Borderlands, and the Immortal Artifact of the Spirit Artifact Nation.
But at this moment, the one representing the Five Regions in responding to the Azure Dragon was you, a mere Spirit Condensation realm martial artist who couldn't even fly.
There was no other reason. It was simply because your connections were rock solid.
"Azure Dragon! We have repeatedly informed you that the human race has no intention of exterminating the Demon Tribe. Yet you still insist on war, causing untold suffering and bloodshed! Returning your Demon King is easy. Order your troops to withdraw and never again invade the Five Regions!!"
The Azure Dragon sneered incessantly, its voice echoing across the heavens with a natural reverb and stereo effect.
"No intention of exterminating the Demon Tribe? The egg-swapping incident! The sheer malice of its intent, the despicableness of its execution! Doesn't that prove you want my Demon Tribe to be cut off, without descendants?!"
Here, we must mention the trigger for this war.
Having been in the Five Regions allied forces for so long, you had already figured out the whole story.
Humans and the Demon Tribe were mortal enemies.
Looking far back, the war between the two worlds ended with both sides' legacies severed, transforming from a top-tier world in the Void Realm into one of no repute.
But that matter was, after all, thirty thousand years ago. Nowadays, unless one studied ancient history or held an exceptionally high status or cultivation level, one simply didn't know about the war between the two worlds.
Many even believed the Demon Tribe had been living and multiplying in the human world from the very beginning.
Looking at more recent times.
The Demon Tribe ate humans to increase their cultivation, while humans hunted demons to obtain materials.
Both sides killed each other back and forth, their grievances accumulating over a long time.
However, since ancient times, the two races had established an agreement.
No matter how fiercely the lower-level members of each race fought, those at the Martial King level and above could not interfere without just cause.
This agreement was bound to be established.
Because it was born after the inter-world war thirty thousand years ago.
At that time, both sides were very weak. Not all powerhouses at the Martial King level and above were extinct; a small number remained.
Without this agreement, one side would inevitably be hunted to near extinction.
Therefore, regardless of the distant or recent past, while the two sides had their enmity, over the long ages, they had not erupted into a conflict and bloody war of this scale.
The trigger this time was the "Egg-Swapping Incident."
About sixty years ago, someone in the Five Regions obtained a pill formula from somewhere, called the "Demon Essence Pill."
As everyone knows, the Demon Tribe is oviparous.
The Demon Essence Pill used demon eggs as the main ingredient for alchemy. After the pill was successfully refined and consumed, it could extend one's lifespan by up to a year!
The amount of extension depended on the purity of the bloodline of the demon egg used for alchemy.
At most, just one year. It doesn't sound like much, does it?
Here's the crucial point.
All known lifespan-extending methods for humanity currently were non-repeatable.
Even if you ate a Five Regions Sacred Pill, eating a second one wouldn't extend your lifespan again.
But the Demon Essence Pill could!
As long as you obtained enough demon eggs, you could keep refining Demon Essence Pills and keep extending your lifespan!
This excited the few people who obtained the formula to no end.
Initially, they operated covertly, only stealing demon eggs in the Eastern Wastes.
Later, their ambitions grew. They started to find the bloodlines of the Eastern Wastes' demons insufficiently pure and began stealing eggs from the demons of the Great Wastes.
The secret of the Demon Essence Pill gradually became impossible to conceal. More martial artists learned of this pill's existence and, through various channels, obtained the formula.
In the end, it basically became an open secret tacitly acknowledged by all major martial arts factions.
Which family didn't have a Founding Ancestor nearing the end of their lifespan?
Founding Ancestors often possessed very high cultivation levels. Wouldn't it be a pity if they died?
If they could keep extending their lifespan and keep guarding their sect, wouldn't that be a perpetual motion machine?
Thus, more and more martial artists went to the Eastern Wastes to steal eggs.
But everyone soon realized a problem.
Operating so brazenly, the Demon Tribe would inevitably discover the secret and, enraged, declare war, cutting off this little trick for lifespan extension.
It was truly killing the goose that laid the golden eggs.
Moreover, the Demon Essence Pill only made sense with long-term consumption.
So, a certain "idea king" came up with a devilish scheme.
There was another type of creature in the human world called Exotic Beasts.
Exotic Beasts had limited intelligence, but they also possessed ancient divine beast bloodlines and were also oviparous.
Humanity had the Beast Taming Dao, which could tame Exotic Beasts for their own use. For example, the Beast Taming Sect among the Eight Pillars of the Five Domains was particularly skilled in this area.
The eggs of Exotic Beasts and the eggs of the Demon Tribe were extremely similar—so similar that even the demon mother herself would have difficulty telling them apart!
Furthermore, the Demon Tribe could not hatch the eggs of Exotic Beasts.
Additionally, the Demon Tribe itself had a certain probability of failure when incubating their own eggs.
With these several buffs stacked together.
The result was.
After martial artists from the Five Regions stole demon eggs, they would place a similar Exotic Beast egg in the demon nest.
The demons, thinking they had laid another bad egg, would abandon this unhatchable egg and continue nurturing the next clutch.
Those refining the Demon Essence Pills could thus obtain demon eggs over the long term!
This matter was only completely discovered by the Demon Tribe a little over ten years ago, and they traced it back to martial artists from the Five Regions.
Before that, the demons at most had suspicions, never imagining humanity would use such methods against them.
Therefore, the Four Great Demon Ancestors decided to go to war with the Five Regions, vowing to completely exterminate all humans in the Five Regions to vent their racial hatred!
"So this is the reason the Great Wastes demons declared war on the Five Regions..."
Chen Yi recalled that during this simulation, when the Sword Lord and he were reading lips in the air, the Azure Dragon had also mentioned this.
The Shen Family and the Three Great Holy Lands would not come to support the Five Regions, choosing to stand on the side of the Demon Tribe.
Indeed.
Either you bring your great army to bear, face the Demon Tribe head-on in a bayonet charge, and wipe them all out—that would show you had guts.
Stealing their eggs and then swapping them with Exotic Beast eggs, making all their efforts futile and even risking cutting off their lineage, was too wicked.
The Holy Lands and the Shen Family probably felt the Five Regions truly had no moral high ground in this matter.
But they weren't supporting the Demon Tribe; they were just letting the two sides settle their own grievances, not helping either side.
They just didn't know that the Demon Tribe's so-called "settling private grievances" meant wiping out the entire Five Regions.
"In this simulation, the Sword Lord should have clearly investigated who directly participated and where the Demon Essence Pill formula originally came from.
Next simulation, I can directly cut off this source, avoid war between the two races, prevent mutual depletion, and avoid repeating the tragedy of the Demon World's destruction..."
Chen Yi always felt that all of this was inextricably linked to the Dragon-Man tribe.
Out of nowhere, where did this Demon Essence Pill formula come from?
Why didn't it exist before?
It probably came from the Dragon-Man tribe.
If it's something the Dragon-Man tribe wants to accomplish, going against them is definitely the right move.
What made you feel sorrowful was.
When you asked the Sword Lord exactly which people were refining the Demon Essence Pills, and whether handing them over to the Demon Tribe for punishment could quell the demons' fury and thus end the war.
The Sword Lord just sighed and told you.
"Too many."
"You've eaten Demon Essence Pills too?"
"No, not a single person in the entire Limitless Sword Sect, from top to bottom, has participated! But within the Five Regions, nearly half of all the factions you can name are implicated. At most, some were unaware."
This made it easy to understand why the Demon Tribe was so furious, determined to wipe out all the people of the Five Regions before they would be satisfied.
From the crowd, someone responded to the Azure Dragon.
"Talking about 'egg-swapping' cutting off the Demon Tribe's descendants! Haven't you demons eaten plenty of us humans!"
