Alas, Im really too weak and urgently need to strengthen myself.
However, Mingzhen Taoist directly served tea,
No.
Tie Dan,...
Seeing Tie Dans face fall, to avoid pushing him to the point of turning into a ball, Mingzhen Taoist quickly explained,
Fellow Daoist, youve slain so many demons, I think they wont be attacking the pass anytime soon. Actually, looking at the Nine Border Lands, the first wave of demon attacks was mostly thwarted by our Mystic Sect disciples.
Now they might be using the spring thaw to digest the livestock and creatures of Kan Country, gathering strength to evolve. No matter how you calculate it, it would be the end of the year, when the weather turns cold and icy, that theyll prepare for a second invasion.
Tie Dan shrugged helplessly, nodding,
Alright then, Ill just go kill Demon Gods. Indeed, its true that killing one earns one cent, right?
Mingzhen Taoist thought for a moment, feeling that it seemed excessive to exterminate demons for just one cent, almost disrespecting their combat effectiveness rating, and thus suggested,
Fellow Daoist, dont be in a hurry. Its rude not to reciprocate. Now that weve defeated the group of demons and dampened their morale, it certainly is the time for a counterstrike. But our Mystic Sect must do things by the rule.
Why not let me report to the Cloud Platform, commend your contributions, and apply for a counterattack. By then, gather the elites inside the pass, and well charge out together for a counter-slaughter, how does that sound?
In fact, Tie Dan wanted to do it alone, with fewer people to share the credit. But thinking about the many Demon Gods seen earlier, and since he had just broken through and was still quite weak, it might backfire. To stay safe, he nodded.
Mingzhen Taoist was also afraid he wouldnt listen to advice and would stir up more trouble, so he suggested further,
Additionally, I roughly looked over your harvests this time. Most are merely Core Formation stage demons, inherently inferior in quality, and inexplicably, their essence blood is greatly depleted, the quality is not good, not usable for alchemy or artifact refining. Its a pity how poor these are.
Why not contribute these demonic materials you collected to fortify the defenses as sacrifice materials or meat reserves, how about that? I could use my Yuanfu Palaces array diagram to exchange with you, and if you can help me repair the grand array, apply for extra Soldier Repelling Coin rewards for you?
Since theyre all rubbish anyway, Tie Dan didnt mind, so he nodded and agreed.
After all, materials below the Divinity Transformation Realm cant even withstand a casual sword from him, utterly useless, indeed not worth much.
Mingzhen Taoist was delighted, only noting how this Immortal Tie could fight and was quite accommodating, refusing all those materials like that. Receiving such a disciple is truly a blessing for the Sword Sect, though unknown if True Man was partnered yet? Had several partners? Would like more?
But Tie Dan couldnt be bothered with his babble and directly bid farewell to repair the array.
The array diagram provided by Mingzhen Taoist was the defense layout of Canghai Pass. As the guardian of Canghai Pass, he had long arranged each place within the town into the Sanmao Mountain Array, enhancing each array eye with magic treasures and talismans. As long as demons stepped wrongly, it would trigger the array formation restriction, turning them into dust with Heavenly Thunder and Earthly Fire. Meanwhile, training the guard soldiers to fight in and out of the array, utilizing the advantage of the grand array to protect, defeating the strong with the weak, using town defense mechanisms to grind demons.
What Tie Dan needed to do was to thoroughly study the array diagram, inspect each array formation, replace consumed runes, fill offerings with demonic materials, and repair the materials and runes consumed during previous battles.
This basic coursework of Mystic Sect disciples, surprisingly Tie Dan had never done before, finding it quite new. He actually did it with great interest, working seriously, even finding some weaknesses, discussing with Daoist on improvements, making Mingzhen Taoist speechless.
Secretly saying, calling you to repair defenses, marking out the flaws in the formation, what are you trying to do! If not for really finishing off the attacking force, truly suspecting youd be a spy captured here!
Quietly noting down the sect formation deficiencies, instructing him that this was military secrets and must not be leaked, blah blah.
After three days of delay, the defenses were fortified, and indeed no demons attacked, while the edict from Cloud Platform Peak arrived.
Mingzhen Taoist was true to his word, applying for three Soldier Repelling Coins as a reward for Tie Dan for his contributions to demon extermination and defense repair. He also obtained the heads approval allowing the proposed counterattack plan of Mingzhen Taoist.
Now, the decree from Cloud Platform dictates the Mystic Sect disciples assigned to guard Canghai Pass to join this operation, follow the command of the Guardian Master, and provide necessary support.
Well, Mystic Sect is quite troublesome, although somehow strong together, actually just a loose alliance, everyone occasionally gathering for academic discussions.
Disciples from each sect only listen to their Sect Leader, even some wouldnt heed their own Sect Leader...
Therefore, although quite a few from Mystic Sect stationed at Canghai Pass, most really just sit there, as long as demons dont breach the array, its fine. You talk until dry throat and they wouldnt move.
Thus, as Mingzhen Taoist said, wanting to accomplish anything in the Mystic Sect, you must follow the agreed rules, or everyone minds their own, nobody cares about your standards.
Now obtained the Cloud Platform edict, the counterattack is ordered by the nine major sects, as instructed by each sect leader, finally persuading some to exert effort.
Unexpected to Tie Dan was that, aside from Mystic Sects recognition, the Immortal Palace also decreed his promotion...
Alright, seems like due to Immortal Palaces joint effort with Mystic Sect against demons, Three Constellations also dispatched an ambassador to Cloud Platform Peak to liaison, reports from various places are reviewed, allowing reorganization of the scattered guard soldiers across Nine Borders, co-operating on demon extermination operations.
Then inspecting Canghai Pass victory report, hey? This Tie Dan once had merits in demon extermination at Ye Capital, our Immortal Palaces Cloud Cavalry Captain! Now making new contributions, isnt he a great example? Proving our Immortal Palace isnt completely lacking combat power!
Consequently, Three Constellations directly rewarded and praised, coinciding with a rank promotion for Tie Dan, promoting him to Flying Cavalry Captain, rewarding one hundred thousand gold, five hundred bolts of silk.
Unexpectedly, Immortal Palace promoted him, while Sword Sect Honzan showed no sign at all, thats something...
Forget it, the Honzans feigning death was expected, lets just start preparing for counterattacks!
Thus began the pre-battle meeting.
Reporting, True Men, our eagle riders have scouted, the Demon Nest and Demon Cave are on Divine Dragon Island, a hundred miles northeast.
That Divine Dragon Island was formed from the relic of the True Dragon from the Ancient Immortal Palace, used to suppress the dragon vein at the Kan and Gen Countries borders, with a Sealing Demon Altar on it. In the late months, during ebb tides, theres a land route accessible.
Now Demon Gods and Great Demons occupy the island, devouring True Dragon Bone Marrow Essence Blood, growing stronger day by day, already poised to act.
Hearing this report from the garrison captain, a group of immortals bowed their heads calculating.
Tie Dan directly said,
Ill go.
Everyone looked up at him for a moment, then bowed their heads calculating again...
Mingzhen Taoist was not surprised, handing over a yellow talisman,
I, as the guardian of Canghai Pass, must be vigilant against demon ambushes. If situations change, Captain Ma is committed, this talisman will ignite, allowing you to quickly return.
Tie Dan accepted the yellow talisman, nodding,
A heroic and selfless man of great honor.
Guarding the pass and protecting the land, a duty not to shirk.
Captain Ma nodded, not saying much.
Mingzhen Taoist turned to the other side,
Who among you is willing to go together?
Since theres a decree from Cloud Platform, its natural to follow orders diligently. Divine Dragon Island may be perilous, but Canghai Pass cannot be lost.
Whatever arrangement deemed necessary, True Man simply instruct.
Seeing no objection from the Mystic Sect, Mingzhen Taoist also calculated arrangements, stating that now to protect Canghai Pass, twelve must stay, forming the Twelve Palaces. Ahem, forming the Four Symbols Eight Trigrams to guard the formation, while leaving outside for flexibility, serving as reserves, and patrolling around Jieshi Mountain, guarding against demons bypassing and attacking. Providing mutual support if needed. The remaining people would form teams to join a surprise counterattack, striking Divine Dragon Island.
The Mystic Sect also wanted to witness Tie Dans unique skills, so decided to draw lots. The final round of lots chose twelve to remain in the formation, eight to defend, and eight to follow Tie Dan to battle!
Tie Dan,
Good! Lets go!
Hold on a moment!
Mingzhen Taoist quickly stopped him,
Tie Dan glared at him, always bringing up sore subjects...
Got blown up by thunder, alright!
Then someone in the crowd tossed a rusty iron sword,
Quit wasting time, use this.
Tie Dan casually caught the sword, washing it with sword energy.
Instantly a fierce light shone, illuminating the hall, drawing everyones gaze.
The sword measured 3 feet 6 inches, slicing jade like clay, cutting iron to pieces, shaving hair, slicing through blood without trace, casting light for several feet in the dark, illuminating countless stars.
Engraved in seal script, it read, Beichen.
Tie Dan silently looked at that person, ...
The person quickly said, Found it... Found it...
Mad, Mystic Sect...
