The so-called Immortal Path is long and lonely,
After all, people are social animals, there are always moments of vulnerability, times of being trapped, and there are times when one hopes to have a like-minded companion around, to lend a helping hand, to support each other.
After all, there aren’t many who can truly sever all ties and walk alone.
This bond is called a Daoist companion.
Just like Tang Tong wants to find a wife, and Tie Dan wants to find a good sword, it’s all about hoping to find companionship. Whether the object is a person, a sword, or even a fish, it’s just a matter of personal preference; the longing for the bond of a Daoist companion is the same.
So, even a lone star like Tie Dan has a Daoist companion, not to mention those he has cut down.
So, after killing the villagers and being punished to chop firewood at the foot of the mountain for three days, the companions of those people came looking for him.
So, killing one, then another comes, killing a group, and another group comes.
When will the cycle of revenge end? But since you have severed such a bond, you have sown the seeds of future karma; this is the opportunity for a killing calamity.
"Fellow senior brothers, let’s talk this out, there’s no need to draw weapons and harm the harmony among us..."
Tang Tong, with a face full of cold sweat, squinted and scanned around, at the moment only catching glimpses of eight green silhouettes in the woods, four in the front, four in the back, sandwiching them from both sides, and he didn’t know if there were more.
"Have you all thought this through? The Sect Leader detests in-fighting, we’ve already been punished, and if you act now, you’re knowingly breaking the law and showing stubbornness, which is a greater sin! Do you really think that just by covering your faces, the heads won’t recognize you? Calm yourself, we are from the same sect, the Immortal Fate isn’t easy, why ruin our future prospects in a moment of impulsiveness..."
Tang Tong also knew, in this scenario, silence spoke louder than words, with the interception of Qi, it might erupt into action at any moment, and if it truly erupted, wouldn’t he be the first to die? At this moment, he didn’t dare keep his mouth shut, rambling on ceaselessly.
"I, Tang Tong, am not a coward, so I won’t say much more. Once the fight starts, swords and knives don’t have eyes; if I die under a sword, then it’s my fate. It’s just that if you are here for revenge, you are acquainted with Senior Brother Xue, and perhaps know me too. I hope for the sake of our fellowship, the surviving ones will resolve some of the entangled karma for me, so I can rest in peace."
There was silence for a moment, Tang Tong took it as agreement from both sides, and started leaving his last words while wiping his tears,
"I, Tang Tong, bear my family’s expectations, being the only one in nine generations to have an Immortal Fate, the whole village is counting on me to bring honor to our ancestors, to lead them to riches and glory, without the steadfast support from my village, I would not have come this far. One should not forget their roots, it’s a pity I lack the ability and have let down everyone’s expectations.
I dare not thick-face, asking you to take care of the Tang family, but I only ask you not to harm my hometown; should there be any war or famine, merely lend them a hand and it would be enough.
There’s a box under my bed, with some money saved. My family doesn’t lack this bit of gold and silver. A mortal’s fate is insufficient; forcibly retaining an Immortal Fate may cause disaster, you may help yourselves to it.
In that box are letters to the senior sisters of Qingtang Sect and engagement tokens; the letters to break off I have prepared. If convenient, please deliver it to the Shopkeeper of Qianshengtong in Yang County at the mountain’s foot; they traverse the Xuan Nu Mountain Range every month for trade. Just say I’ve broken this bond, and they will take care of sending it.
It’s common for a Daoist companion to perish and the Dao to vanish. Knowing I’d simultaneously dated fifteen, they won’t likely seek revenge. Rest assured. As for the other stuff in the book box, if interested, help yourselves, if not, a fire will do, remember, remember!
Additionally, I have an acquaintance in Ye Capital, from an official family, due to her grandfather’s crime, exiled to the Imperial Music Bureau. I found her pitiable and saw she had some aptitude, so I rescued her, settled her in the villa at West Huan River, originally intending to conclude my Core Formation and pursue Dual Cultivation with her. If I die, she will be left alone, helpless..."
"Whizz!"
"Swish swish swish!"
"...Eh?"
Suddenly a gust of wind arose, and Tang Tong came to his senses, looking around to find Tie Dan and the surrounding senior brothers had left him and run away!
"What, what’s this situation?"
This damn business is just too damn much...
Tie Dan was truly fed up with hearing all this, approximating an assassination attempt on Sword Sect’s disciples would be the same.
At this moment, those who bore the sword were mentally aligned.
Damn it! Just draw your sword and strike! All this jibber-jabber is infuriating! Trash! Not worthy to die under the sword! Enough talk! Do it!
"Swish swish swish!"
Tie Dan accelerated lightly, instantaneously traversing the mountains.
"Whoosh whoosh whoosh!"
On both flanks were eight green silhouettes performing Instant Step flight, rushing like the wind.
"Ting ting ting ting!"
Swords, flashing cold light, like silver fish, sped through the dense woods in the mountain ranges.
Three swords, under the Sword Control Technique, maneuvered as if gliding, diving like hawks, sometimes striking, skimming at angles, chopping heads, stabbing, twisting, or slashing, as if manipulated by an invisible hand, wielding the Sword Sect Secret Sword, advancing to kill Tie Dan.
Yet Tie Dan remained expressionless, sprinting at full speed, never pausing, never allowing the eight men behind him the chance to surround him, only occasionally whirling his arms when the flying swords attacked directly, Qingshuang fluttering, forming sword shadows, enveloping himself in a sphere with sword energy blades, deflecting away those flying swords.
Too slow! Far too slow!
Moreover, from the tactile sensation of the swords, what they wielded was not the Sword Child’s belly Qi Sword, but True Weapon made of Mystic Iron.
Though both are deadly flying swords, swords forged postnatally, if not inherently possessing Sword Spirit or weapons refined over centuries in a furnace, pale significantly compared to innate Qi or Divine Gang forged swords in the belly!
And honestly, their accuracy is subpar too, because real swords are too heavy, consuming too much energy, the initial advantage if they miss the surprise stab, it’s difficult to gain an upper hand afterward.
Even a fool wouldn’t stand still to let you aim, waiting to be chopped, right? Especially not someone like Tie Dan, always turbocharged, highly mobile moving target!
So, only in the first round, Tie Dan had it figured out.
These people were authentic Honzan’s disciples, at least at the Golden Core Realm, to be able to pursue him through Sword Control. Yet their flying swords failing to strike in the initial attempt and still persistently stabbing, revealed inadequate sword fighting experience.
Besides, they were way too close, openly revealing themselves in front of him, could there be a plot...
No matter now! This is a kill-or-be-killed duel! A crisis of a moment! No room for hesitation!
Seize any chance to strike!
"Ha!"
Tie Dan suddenly turbocharged! Divine Skill activated! Sudden burst of speed! Boom! Foot planted on a fir tree! Swirling rebound! Making a sharp angle! Evading three flying swords! Turning to charge directly at the Green Robed Swordsman ahead!
Now the eight men, chasing Tie Dan through the forest, were unwittingly dragged into a straight line, setting up a one-on-one scenario!
That leading swordsman, seeing Tie Dan coming head-on! Was caught off guard! His sword trembled in his hand! A sword thrust from the sleeve!
The sword light glittered in Tie Dan’s pupils, seemingly piercing straight into his brow!
Trash!
Whoosh! The sword stabbed into empty air!
The treasure sword pierced into the brow of the afterimage left by Tie Dan!
While Qingshuang, striking later yet reaching first! Pierced the chest cavity of the swordsman with a single thrust!
Victory... No, wrong!
Tie Dan suddenly dodged away! Directly abandoning the sword to flee! At the same time, slashing with a sword energy, severing the person’s ankle!
Fortunately, he decisively abandoned the sword! Although that swordsman, pierced through by Qingshuang, with both legs severed, seemed unaffected! Even as he toppled, thrusting another sword, stabbing into Tie Dan’s afterimage!
Tie Dan, without hesitating at all, abandoned Qingshuang behind! Turning and running! So much so that the pursuing swordsmen behind couldn’t surround and block him in time!
The tactile sensation, the Qi sensation, even the color of the cut blood was all wrong, not a single drop of blood...
These swordsmen, were not living people!
Now Tie Dan understood.
So this is the tactic.
Just as my Senior Brother said, the Sword Sect’s forte has never been direct combat but assassination.
Engaging flying swords for guerrilla assassination, while manipulating puppet soldiers with some unknown Left Dao technique, for sieging and joint attacks!
The person controlling the swords actually remained steadily hidden behind the scenes the entire time! Sneakily making their move!
Perhaps, there weren’t many people.
Just one person.
It wouldn’t take eight Golden Core Ream disciples to gang up on one Foundation Establishment disciple.
So this is likely a Golden Core Realm disciple of Honzan! Wielding three flying swords, eight puppets simultaneously! Using Honzan’s Secret Technique, having a duel with Tie Dan!
Let’s see if this is the case with a test!
"Whoosh whoosh whoosh!"
Two flying swords dived before him! Like scissors slashing diagonally down! A flying sword pierced from his back! Seizing the moment when Tie Dan was without a sword! A set of killing formations, the killing intent revealed itself completely!
"There!"
Yet Tie Dan was faster! Those three swords hadn’t arrived yet! He sidestepped diagonally, flipping his hand to strike!
"Bang!"
A blue light blossomed in the forest! The foreign Magic Bead "bang!" in an instant! Directly striking and breaking the flying sword piercing the back!
After all, although it was a foreign magic treasure, and Tie Dan was only at the Foundation Establishment, unable to truly employ it with the Treasure-wielding technique, this thing was still a Nascent Soul Realm Treasure.
How many Nascent Soul Treasures were there in this world! Getting struck hard, still think they could withstand?
Indeed! Abruptly hit by it! That flying sword, too rigid couldn’t endure, was instantly smashed into two segments by the Treasure Bead!
The Golden Core’s Primordial Spirit clearly trembled, abruptly sustaining severe injury! The seven pursuing swordsmen all trembled in unison, their movement techniques slowed.
The nearest one among them suddenly accelerated, charging fiercely! Actually pounced forward, pressing the Treasure Bead firmly beneath themselves!
And the other two flying swords, at this moment, directly hovered in the air!
Humph! So it indeed is just one person!
Found him!
The Gourd Spirit received the command, fanning its Rabbit Ears, transforming into Qi, merging into the ground.
