Zongheng University’s Main Complex.
Fang Xiu looked at the statue before him; it had already been moved aside.
Beneath where the statue had been lay a horizontal Gate World Passage.
"System, check for me. Is the item that can be used for Sacrifice still here?"
Fang Xiu had the system perform a scan immediately.
’It was supposed to be under the statue.’
’But now, the space beneath the statue has become a Gate World Passage.’
Fang Xiu wasn’t sure if the item was still around.
[Ding! No items available for Sacrifice in the vicinity!]
Just then, the system’s voice sounded.
Fang Xiu felt a little helpless.
’It looks like the item for Sacrifice really did fall into the Gate World Passage.’
"That night, a professor was passing by and noticed the old headmaster’s statue was gone. He thought it had been stolen, but when he came over to check, he discovered this Gate World Passage instead!"
Li Mu explained from beside him.
"The professor then contacted me. After all, matters concerning Gate World Passages are the Awakening Hall’s responsibility. Besides, the danger level of this Gate World was unknown."
Li Mu continued to explain.
Fang Xiu nodded slightly. "So the old headmaster’s statue fell in?"
"Yes. Thankfully, it was only the statue. If it hadn’t been there, a person might have fallen in. After all, no one would have expected a Gate World Passage to suddenly appear here at night!"
Li Mu explained with a slight nod.
She had been in charge of this matter from the start.
So, Li Mu was well-informed about the situation.
"I see!"
Fang Xiu pretended as if he had only just learned this.
After all, with a Gate World Passage having already appeared in his own home, Fang Xiu was no longer surprised by such occurrences.
It was just that no one could find out about the Gate World at his home.
Therefore, he had to act surprised, followed by a look of dawning realization.
"Yes. Thankfully, after an initial survey by the Awakened, we’ve determined that this Gate World isn’t particularly large and seems to be free of any danger. However, we need to conduct a more in-depth exploration for concrete details."
Li Mu continued, "If it’s truly safe, it could serve as a Cultivation ground for Life System Awakened. After all, cultivating in other Gate Worlds always carries the risk of being attacked by Demon Beasts, which requires Combat System instructors to stand guard."
"Okay. Can we go inside and take a look?"
Fang Xiu was curious.
He wondered how this Gate World differed from the one at his house.
Also, had the item for Sacrifice really fallen into the Gate World...
...or had the university taken it?
Fang Xiu needed to confirm this one way or another.
"Of course. The professors are in there as well."
Li Mu nodded.
She then led Fang Xiu into the Gate World Passage.
In the blink of an eye, they arrived in the actual Gate World.
He looked at the clearing around them. In the distance were high mountains and a forest.
Fang Xiu had the strangest feeling.
’This seems just like the Gate World at my house.’
’No, this Gate World seems a little bigger!’
Fang Xiu took a closer look.
Judging from the mountains and forest he could see...
...the area here had to be much larger than his own Gate World.
Furthermore, the Spiritual Power here was more sparse than in his own.
It was probably on par with an ordinary Gate World.
Of course, it was still far denser than in the real world.
"What do you think?"
Li Mu asked from beside him.
Fang Xiu nodded slightly. "It’s fine. But the Spiritual Qi here is quite dense, and with areas like a forest, it should meet the conditions for Demon Beasts to appear!"
Fang Xiu at least knew some of the basics.
"Yes, I’ve considered that as well. The Awakened over here are investigating right now. If any traces of Demon Beasts are found, they’ll inform me immediately!"
The people from the Awakening Hall were already investigating.
Normally, a Gate World like this would be teeming with Demon Beasts.
But so far, not a single Demon Beast had been sighted.
Not even a trace of them had been discovered.
This fact struck not only Li Mu as strange, but also the Awakened from the Awakening Hall who were tasked with the investigation.
"Has a Gate World like this ever appeared before?"
Fang Xiu asked, feigning casual curiosity.
In truth, he was desperate to know if a situation like this had ever occurred.
After all, whether in his textbooks or on the Awakener Website, Fang Xiu had never seen any information about a "Gate World with no Demon Beasts."
In other words, the Gate World in his own house was very likely the first one ever discovered without any Demon Beasts.
’But Kajimi said something else exists at the bottom of the lake in my Gate World.’
’It might not be a Demon Beast, but it’s definitely a living creature.’
’So, if this Gate World is just like the one at my house...’
’...it’s highly likely that the Demon Beasts here simply haven’t been found yet because they aren’t on the surface.’
Of course, all of this hinged on whether a Gate World "without Demon Beasts" had truly never been discovered before.
"No, never before!"
Li Mu shook her head.
This was the first time a situation like this had occurred.
That’s why the Awakening Hall was taking it so seriously.
They had immediately dispatched Awakened to survey the area.
After a full sweep of the entire Gate World, they had preliminarily determined that there were no traces of any Demon Beasts.
As for whether it was truly devoid of Demon Beasts, that would require further confirmation.
"What does ’further confirmation’ entail? What aspects need to be checked?"
Fang Xiu pressed for details.
He wanted to learn a few things that he could later apply to the Gate World back at his house.
