Chapter 546: Chapter 540: Bizarre Death
"Humph, our Moonlight Hall doesn’t need a Deputy Hall Master like you who betrays us from the inside out. Get out before I lose my temper, and the farther, the better. Don’t ever come back!"
Lul Peng’s face suddenly turned from black to red, then from red to green, becoming frightfully ghastly!
When the green on Lul Peng’s face spread to its limit, his face suddenly contorted into a ferocious snarl.
"Fengh Qingyue, you have no right! My position as Deputy Hall Master of Moonlight Hall was appointed by the Main Temple, you have no right to interfere, nor can you! Thinking of making me leave Moonlight Hall? No way!" Lul Peng yelled and jumped in anger.
Hearing this, Fengh Qingyue simply laughed.
"Not leaving, are you?"
"Then that’s easy to deal with!"
"Members of Moonlight Hall, heed my command: from today onwards, Lul Peng is no longer the Deputy Hall Master of our Moonlight Hall. Whoever dares to follow his orders, I, as your Hall Master, will immediately expel them from Moonlight Hall!
Furthermore, starting today, if Lul Peng dares to take a single step into Moonlight Hall, notify me immediately and break his dog legs!"
"Accounting Deacon Hee Zai?" Fengh Qingyue called out sharply.
"Reporting to the Hall Master, I am present!" An elderly martial artist wearing a long robe appeared on one side of the Moonlight Hall.
"Starting today, all privileges that Lul Peng enjoyed in our Moonlight Hall are to be suspended immediately! Moreover, even half a Spirit Crystal, he is not qualified to take away! Ah, if I find out that Lul Peng has taken even half a Spirit Crystal, ah, you had better prepare for the consequences!"
The accounting Deacon’s face tightened as he respectfully responded, "I understand. Starting today, without the Hall Master’s Talisman, not even half a Spirit Crystal can be taken by anyone! Moreover, Lul Peng’s privileges as Deputy Hall Master are hereby suspended!"
Hearing this, Fengh Qingyue snapped his fingers crisply, looking rather proudly at Lul Peng.
At this moment, Lul Peng looked as if all life had drained from him!
Because with Fengh Qingyue’s command, even if he were to stubbornly stay in Moonlight Hall, it would be of no use! Not only had he lost the position of Deputy Hall Master, but he had also lost the privileges that came with it.
What’s more fatal, from now on, he would have no prestige within the Sun and Moon Divine Sect and would even become a laughingstock!
"Good!"
Ye Zhen was the first to start clapping enthusiastically. Following Ye Zhen’s clapping, a rapid burst of applause suddenly echoed, including the martial artist who had regretfully stood aside earlier after being singled out by the Messenger Envoy, now clapping excitedly.
Who would be happy if their own Hall Master didn’t take their side?
"Master Fengh, you can’t...." Huo Peng, his face ashen, was making a last struggle. The previous incident had been prearranged by Vice Sect Master Yao, but he had not anticipated this outcome.
"When you betrayed the interests of Moonlight Hall, you should have thought of this! As the elite reserve of the Sun and Moon Divine Sect, if the sect were ever in trouble, Moonlight Hall’s members would be the last hope of the sect!
This was the original intention of the Sect Hierarch when establishing Moonlight Hall; how could it be so easily influenced by a mere Messenger Officer?"
As Fengh Qingyue spoke, he suddenly leaned forward, "What, you’re not leaving yet? Do you want me to send you off?"
An overwhelming aura surged from Fengh Qingyue as if a fierce tiger had just been released from its cage, lunging straight at Lul Peng. Startled, Lul Bao’s complexion changed dramatically, and he couldn’t help but retreat several steps, throwing a resentful look before leaving the courtyard of Moonlight Hall in complete defeat.
This action struck Ye Zhen as strange.
Fengh Qingyue was currently at the Fifth Stage of Vein Forging Realm, only one stage higher than Lul Peng, and yet he had forced Lul Peng to leave with resentment, without even daring to fight back. Fengh Qingyue’s combat power was definitely not simple!
"Ye Zhen, you did well today! Remember, there’s only one rule in Moonlight Hall - follow the Hall Master’s orders. Whoever disobeys will be expelled from Moonlight Hall immediately. Remember, it’s the Hall Master’s orders!" Fengh Qingyue’s gaze swept past the faces of the many Moonlight Hall members once again.
"All right, disperse now. Ye Zhen, you stay...."
Just as Fengh Qingyue was gesturing for everyone to leave, six streaks of light suddenly descended from the sky, landing within Moonlight Hall. Lul Peng, the recently departed Deputy Hall Master, was among them.
However, Lul Peng’s reappearance did not shock people much; what was truly horrifying was an elderly man in blood-red robes, with high cheekbones and an extremely sinister aura.
It was as if with his arrival, he had brought the breath of hell itself, making everyone’s breath catch. Seeing this blood-robed elder’s arrival, even the complexion of Hall Master Fengh Qingyue changed.
Due to the emergence of the blood-robed elder, Vice Sect Master Yao’s sudden appearance seemed rather insignificant, as all attention was drawn to the elder in blood red.
As for the red-bearded man exuding evil Qi and the other two martial artists in blood-red robes, they would have been extremely notable as well, but they seemed inconsequential in the presence of the blood-robed elder.
Regardless of whether it was the blood-robed elder, Vice Sect Master Yao, or the red-bearded man, one thing was the same: their expressions were extremely grim, even dark.
"Elder Tus, what wind has blown you here to our Moonlight Hall? Could it be that Moonlight Hall has some matter that requires the Punishment Hall to intervene?"
Master Fengh greeted from afar, his eyes also showing a hint of solemnity.
In the Sun and Moon Divine Sect, matters that involved the Punishment Hall were always complicated.
The expression on Ye Zhen’s face changed upon hearing Master Fengh’s words.
This was mainly because Vice Sect Master Tian Guizhang had previously briefed Ye Zhen on such matters.
Within the Sun and Moon Divine Sect, each hall has its enforcers, and common violations of the sect’s rules can be dealt with by each respective hall. However, once the forces of the Punishment Hall are mobilized, the situation becomes extremely troublesome.
And now, it was not just any member of the Punishment Hall, but Elder Tus De, known by many as Ghost Fear, who had appeared.
"Could it be that someone in Moonlight Hall has committed some offense?" Ye Zhen was quite puzzled.
"What kind of wind could blow this old man to Moonlight Hall? Naturally, it is the wind of lawlessness and disorder. Master Fengh, today I am here to capture a murderer within the Moonlight Hall who killed a brother of our sect. I ask Master Fengh to cooperate!" said Elder Tus De of the Punishment Hall, clad in a blood-red robe.
Fengh Qingyue’s face changed abruptly, "There’s someone in Moonlight Hall who has killed a brother of the sect? Hm, if there is, I will naturally cooperate!"
Almost simultaneously, Ye Zhen noticed that the intensely fierce gaze of the Red-bearded Martial Artist was firmly fixed on him, as if wishing to kill him on the spot.
If glares could kill, Ye Zhen would have died a thousand deaths over by now.
This abnormal gaze immediately made Ye Zhen feel that something was terribly wrong.
"That would be for the best! Which one among you is Ye Zhen, the member of Moonlight Hall? Show yourself!"
Although Ye Zhen had joined the Moonlight Hall not long ago, after the incident involving the Messenger Envoy just now, almost everyone present recognized Ye Zhen.
Therefore, as Punishment Hall Elder Tus De asked his question, everyone’s gaze, as if by some agreement, turned toward Ye Zhen.
"You are Ye Zhen, seize him for me!" The moment Punishment Hall Elder Tus De’s gaze fell upon Ye Zhen, he sharply ordered, and almost instantly, two blood-garbed martial artists burst out from behind Tus Bei and lunged toward Ye Zhen.
"Hold on!"
Almost at the same time, the voices of both Ye Zhen and Fengh Qingyue rang out.
As the Hall Master, Fengh Qingyue naturally needed to protect his subordinate from being captured! Ye Zhen, on the other hand, wanted clarity! If he couldn’t understand the situation, he was not willing to be captured in such a muddle-headed fashion.
Once seized, the trouble would be immense, with various means of control coming one after another. By then, Ye Zhen feared that even if he wished to escape, he might not be able to.
At that instant, Ye Zhen had already prepared for the worst—if the other party’s attitude proved too forceful, he would have no choice but to think of a way to escape first, at the very least until Tian Guizhang arrived.
"Master Fengh, what now, do you intend to obstruct an elder of the Punishment Hall from carrying out the law? Within the Divine Sect, no one is beyond the reach of the Punishment Hall’s authority below the Sect Hierarch. Do you dare obstruct?"
The Punishment Hall Elder’s expression turned stern, his gaze ominously fixing on Fengh Qingyue!
"Elder Tus is being too harsh. I, Qingyue, would naturally not dare to obstruct the enforcement of Punishment Hall law. You may capture Ye Zhen, but what crime has he committed, whom has he killed? I as the Hall Master at least deserve an explanation, don’t I?"
"Exactly, Elder Tus, even if Punishment Hall wants to deal with me according to the sect rules, at least give me a clear explanation!" Ye Zhen’s voice chimed in at the same time.
"Explanation?"
Punishment Hall Elder Tus De sneered. With a subtle gesture of his eyes, the Red-bearded Martial Artist behind him, unable to contain his fury, burst forth, cursing Ye Zhen vehemently. Had it not been for Hall Master Fengh Qingyue stepping forward just in time, the Red-bearded Martial Artist might have already launched an attack on Ye Zhen.
"Commander Jiao, what is the matter?"
"Ye Zhen, my inner disciple Huaisong had only exchanged a few harsh words with you, and yet you cruelly murdered him. Such a merciless heart you have! Today, I, Jiao Xi, will kill you with my own hands to avenge my inner disciple Huaisong, and to seek revenge for the members of the Sun and Moon Divine Guard Third Guard!"
In an instant, Jiao Xi began pointing at Ye Zhen and cursing with teeth clenched, full of hate.
Ye Zhen was taken aback by the tirade.
This didn’t seem like an act!
"Huaisong is dead?" Ye Zhen was shocked.
"Still playing dumb, you thief! After killing a man, you still feign innocence! It was clearly a vengeful murder, and now you pretend as if nothing happened! Elder Tus, I beg you to take up this cause, to avenge my inner disciple and the member of the Third Guard, Huaisong!" Jiao Xi was livid with rage, pointing at Ye Zhen and cursing nonstop.
Ye Zhen’s eyebrows knitted tightly.
Huaisong is dead?
That’s impossible, right? He only slapped him with a few Spirit Bricks, how could he have died!
How is that possible?
"Master Fengh, what do you have left to say? Step aside! The Punishment Hall has duties to perform, and those who kill their brothers in the sect are to be put to death; that is the iron rule of the Divine Sect!" Elder Tus De of the Punishment Hall commanded.
"Wait!" Ye Zhen suddenly shouted in alarm. At this critical moment, how could Ye Zhen not realize the gravity of the situation? If he didn’t get to the bottom of this, he might very well have to become a fugitive again. One careless move, and his life could be forfeit within the Sun and Moon Divine Sect.
"Can someone tell me, when did Huaisong die, and how did he die?" Ye Zhen demanded.
"You sly villain, still pretending! You know when your own deed happened, don’t you?" Jiao Xi cursed again.
Almost at the same time, Vice Sect Master Yao Sen, who had been silent until now, spoke up, "I should explain this matter. Huaisong died suddenly, and since he had a grudge with Ye Zhen, and Ye Zhen had openly claimed he would kill Huaisong, plus Huaisong died from Ye Zhen’s most proud finger technique, if the murderer isn’t Ye Zhen, then who is it?"
"Vice Sect Master Yao, by that logic, if someone within the Sun and Moon Divine Sect were to die by the Gold Element Sword Skill one day, could the murderer then be identified as you, Vice Sect Master Yao?" Ye Zhen suddenly let out a sneer!
